Food was good! I was a bit skeptical because of the reviews but everyone enjoyed their food at our table. The service was decent and the restaurant was packed.

Tried this place for the first time the other day for a quick bite to eat so decided to keep it safe and order a burger. The steak fries were good and was a big portion but the burger was worst I’ve ever had! The meat was grey and I really questioned if it was even beef… It was mushy and completely fell apart when I took a bite. So disgusting I just ate my fries, paid the bill and left. Serve was nice but I won’t return.

Manager is NOT accommodating, RUDE and not customer friendly. Food is mediocre. Same quality can be ordered and pleasantly served at surrounding establishments. Limited parking. Nice atmosphere and location. We have had dinners at JJ’s and lunch at this location; however, every time we eat in or order to go food is ?? .eh, just ok. Customer service is worse than the food.

The good — seated promptly at 6:30 on a Friday night. The waitress was firendly but not overly intrusive. The bad — 4 out of 5 peopl had shared 4different types of sushi One type was forgotten to be made by mistake and by the time we got the waitresses attention, we were too late into our meal so we cancelled it. The ugly — Yuck! Sticky dirty table and floors. The one entrée at the table, chicken teriyaki lite with mixed vegetables and steamed rice was reheated via microwave. Gross! Chicken was rubberized and vegetables were wilted like hospital food. Overall, never again!

Interesting restaurant/bar in downtown Mooresville with a varied menu. As the name infers, the menu is skewed toward sushi and Asian food but it also includes soups, salads, wraps, and sandwiches indigenous to a sports bar… so there’s something for everyone. J.J. Wasabi’s has the décor of a sports bar more so than a sushi restaurant with a bar running nearly the length of one wall. They also have a pretty good selection of draft beers including Sweetwater and Red Oak. There are tv’s behind the bar going the length of the bar which makes for good sports watching. I had the Jalapeño Blue Cheese burger($ 7.50) with sweet potato fries. It was a decent burger and the fries were pretty good as well. I was tempted by a few of the Asian dishes, but I just didn’t feel like I was in an Asian restaurant — it feels more like a burger/wrap place. I am curious about the Asian menu though so next time I’ll probably give one a try. The service was great sitting at the bar. Not only did we have the bartender attending to us, but there was also a waitress taking care of us resulting in very good service.

Had a good dinner at this place with my girlfriend. The food was AMAZING, there was a mix up with my order but Marry Lib our server was very quick to correct it. The only down side to this place would be up keep on the booths and tables they were kinda falling apart but aside from that I recommend this place it was very good.

I want to like JJs. I’ve eaten here about 10x over the last 3 years. The location is amazing, in quaint downtown Mooresville with covered outdoor seating. The food is ok. Nothing special. It would help if they had a smaller menu, with more fresh ingredients. Everything tastes prepackaged. The inside décor is dark and dingy, which is hard to accomplish with all the windows, but they do it. I love sushi but I won’t eat it here I’m too worried about getting sick. I just can’t eat raw fish in a place that looks like it needs a good cleaning. I’m scared to see what their kitchen looks like. I hope the owner reads this and makes a change. Mooresville deserves better. Or at least sell the restaurant to someone who cares about being in the business. I would make a call to Gordon Ramsey but I fear that after 3 months everything would return the way it was(is?)… I will now type up 3 positive reviews. La Patisserie, Daily Grind, Tequilas. All great Downtown Mooresville eateries. Ya know, for balance. #gottalovemooresville

I’m sitting here on a Monday at 6:58pm 7-6-2015. This is the most disgusting condition I have seen a nice restaurant like this in some time. The tables are filthy, the floor is filthy. There is dirt and dried up crust on the bottom of both the salt and pepper shaker from never being wiped. I’m sitting at a window seat and aside from sticking to the seat because it’s so dirty there is caked in dirt and food along the bottom of the window. This use to be a nice restaurant and coming from someone who has over 15yrs experience in bars/restaurants I can tell you this is a direct reflection on their management and possibly ownership. Who ever is at fault Shame on you. Just because you and epic are he only restaurants in downtown mooresville doesn’t mean you should give up and do the bare minimum. Update after the food arrived. Don’t bother ordering the spring rolls. They come out the size of your pinky finger on a plate that’s too big for them, so big in fact that when the server put it down one rolled right off the plate. I asked for a manager after we were done and had already paid for our meal. Some guy named Palo that was making sushi introduced himself as the manager. When I asked for a corporate number or a number for ownership he said HE was the owner. I wish someone could verify this because I’m pretty sure that guy was definitely NOT the owner.

The service has improved a lot since my last review. It seems like everyone is much friendlier now and the quality of the sushi is back up to what I used to expect from J.J.‘s. Most recently, I tried The Popper – a daily sushi special with jalapeño peppers, yellowtail and cream cheese. It was excellent!

Just paid to eat here, and had our food and drinks put into take out containers literally FIVE minutes after being served. The waitress argued with me when I told her that the food I was served wasn’t what I ordered.(I had been there the previous weekend, and this time, ordered the same exact dish I had then). The server then went back to the kitchen and was badmouthing me to other employees, WECOULDSEEANDHEARHER! I don’t care how great the food is, I WILLNEVER eat here again! While posting a review on their Facebook page, I read that this customer service issue is chronic, and that I was treated consistently with the others who suffered the same poor service. They did not take anything off of our bill, nor did they offer anything to entice us to give them another try. And, as we were boxing our food and leaving, the server was watching us and smiling the entire time… as if we were the ones at fault.

I haven’t lived in Mooresville very long, but I had heard quite a bit about this place. I am VERY particular about where I will eat sushi(food poisoning is a big risk), but decided to try it out. I’m SO glad I did. My fiancé grew up in Japan and, like me, is pretty picky about sushi. But we both LOVEJJ’s. The sushi is always super fresh, and the bartender is really quick and friendly. A side effect of the awesomeness: it does get WAYY crowded on weekends, but we usually just do a carry-out order!

A nice restaurant if you’re looking for some quality food. The sushi is good along with the other items on the menu. The alcohol selection is very nice and the staff are pretty friendly.

Me and my girlfriend came here for lunch and are never coming back. There was nice service, not especially fast, and the appetizer was fine. When we received our sushi rolls, it didn’t take us long to notice the black hairs in multiple pieces of the sushi. We told our waitress, paid for the appetizer we had already eaten, and left. We were both pretty disgusted and left with no intentions of returning.

Great food and great service! Bar tender was very good! My wife and I were looking for a different place to hang out and this place didn’t disappoint! We had dinner at the bar and we really enjoyed ourselves.

Not too impressed. I tried this place out on a busy Friday evening and maybe that was the problem. Parking was easy but the service was awful. The food was mediocre and both rolls I tried weren’t that great(tempura and calamari). However, the ginger dressing with the salad was pretty good as was the hibachi shrimp.

I can say that after many great meals at Joel’s, I was disappointed in this location. Great location, nice décor, good outside(but smoky) seating. Came with friends and our little baby. They were very accommodating for the kids and baby. First off, ordered a Sam Adams Octoberfest. They offered me a frosted glass with brown sugar around the rim. Seemed odd, but I agreed. Tried it, not helpful. Don’t know what sugar was supposed to add to beer, but it didn’t. Second, ordered a bunch of rolls. Here’s the problem: 1. The Nirvana Roll — it is supposed to be baked and hot. It came on a plate with the other rolls and was stone cold. The waitress did take it back and brought me a new one. I will say the new one was the favorite of my wife and I. 2. The NC Roll — a bunch(too much) of fried stuff in a roll that was way too big to eat bite by bite. Also, it was very dry & bland. Needed some spicy mayo to get through this. For $ 10, not worth it. 3. Tempura Roll — pretty good. No complaints. 4. Philly Roll — just wasn’t feeling it. For some, it might be fine that the fish was the ½ the volume of the entire roll, but that was just too much and ruined the consistency for me. Didn’t taste the cream cheese at all. Ok place, but Joel’s has been better. This was an average place at best. With many places in Florida clearly listing cooked vs uncooked rolls and highlighting spicy or specialty rolls, I was disappointed in the menu as well. Decent food, just not spectacular.

Heard mixed reviews of this place before so I decided to check out for my self. 1. Décor– nice lots if space, furniture is cool and the bar area was nice. 2. Service– attentive, must have multiple hostesses there because I saw at least 3 different girls seating people. My waitress was fast and attentive but not much on personality. The food came out fast but maybe a little too fast like it Still eating my salad and then my app came and while I was eating my app my entrée was served! 3. Food– ginger salad was good and the ginger dressing is betteer than most ive have had Rainbow roll– just ok I didnt like the mackerel on there, the portions were alright but the fish wasnt the freshest ive had bettee sushi from harris teeter Chicken and Mushroom Lettucr wraps– these were good but nothing special, minced chicken and mushrooms that probably came out if a vat they had sitting in the kitchen. Served with stale shrimps chip slices and hoisen, sweet chili, siracha. Pretty dull sauce choices, Overall the experience was ok id try again but I don’t think for the sushi

Asian fusion comes to downtown Mooresville, and it’s pretty darned good! 1st star — Location If memory serves me correctly, JJ Wasabi’s occupies the old Gabriel’s Sporting Goods location in downtown Mooresville. It’s located right next to the downtown center and just across the street from the Bathtub Gin Bar. There’s ample patio seating that’s great in the summer, but not so much in the winter(ahem — ceiling fans, but not heaters). It’s OK, because it’s big and open inside, with a bar and sushi bar on the right wall and plenty of table and booth seating all the way to the back of the restaurant. 2nd star — Service The staff is friendly, and barring a busy night, will usually seat you promptly. Drinks come to the table quickly, and food arrives in a reasonable amount of time as well. The owner, Joel, will often come out and speak to customers. My family swears by the guy. He’s friendly and will take care of his regulars. 3rd star — Value Sushi rolls range in price from $ 5 to $ 19. Entrees aren’t more than $ 20. You can easily eat here for $ 8 before drinks and get enough food for a doggie bag at the end of the night. Beer specials aren’t half bad either — $ 2 Shock Top isn’t bad on a Saturday night if you’re looking to down a few. 4th star — Decent Asian fusion and sushi I’ve eaten a few things here and at Joel’s other spot off Highway 150(west Mooresville), and I’ve never had a bad experience. The roast beef volcano has a terrific flavor. I don’t remember it being terribly spicy, but it was my first dish from JJ Wasabi’s. The pad thai with shrimp was tasty, albeit a little gummy. It had a good spiciness to it, though I wish it had more vegetables. My last visit, I had the sushi. Specifically… 1. Spicy yellowfin roll — 8 pieces, wished it had been spicier 2. Zeffy roll — liked it, but wish the fried part had been salmon instead of tilapia Other members of my family swear by such dishes as: 1. DoMo Cali roll — no sharing allowed by my brother-in-law, covered in baked salmon and crab 2. Steak tatake — my brother LOVES this 3. Tako su – sushi grade octopus salad, courtesy of my brother Missing 5th star — Reserved for a future visit Mooresville needed this kind of Asian fusion. Something NOT Lotus Chinese. Something hip and fun. JJ Wasabi’s delivers, and I can’t wait to visit again.
