Gros Ventre NPS Campground

Located amongst fields of Sage and Cottonwoods this campsite is pretty and was easy to get an electric hookup spot mid-​week. Some spots have been updated, while others are pretty ragged (loop d). Bathrooms were clean but no hand soap dispensers. Dump station and easy access to water. Perfect spot if you are spending most of your time in the park. Definitely not worth the $ 48 per night given other campsites of similar set up are charging $ 26 per night. Bring lots of bug spray.

This campground is the least popular of all of them in Grand Teton National Park but I think it’s one of the nicest. It’s a little out of the way but if you can’t get into Jenny Lake then it’s not any further away from the most popular trailheads than Colter Bay campground (not recommended!). It seems like it’s really big — and it is — but it’s spread out so it’s not crowded and you don’t feel like you’re camping in a crowd.
The setting is within the sagebrush plain with a creek right behind the campground. You can camp along the main road and get a great view of the tetons or you can camp right next to the creek and stalk the moose all evening. There are multiple moose that hang out near the creek in the mornings and evenings. We had a mom and twin boys hang out right across from our site all evening! Bonus stars for being able to hang out so close to the moose.
The tent sites all have pads that they’ve graded and gravelled. They also have picnic tables and fire rings. You can get firewood at the camp office which is open late (8 PM?). There’s no camp store so you’ll need to go into town to get anything else. The bathrooms are super clean! There are several bathrooms so they’re not a very far walk away. Each one has 3 stalls with flushing toilets and 2 sinks. There’s no dishwashing sink but there is a special «toilet» for flushing away dirty food water.
They must not have a problem with bears since there’s only one shared bear proof food vault near the bathroom. It’s good enough to just keep your food in the car.
In the morning it’s nice to drive down the road to Mormon row and get some photos with the tetons in the background. Or go all the way to Antelope Flats Rd to view the herd of bison that hang out there.

Comfortable camp ground. We used the ADA site fit our travel trailer and truck just fine. Had electric for $ 27.00 a night, great price compared to Yellowstone. Enjoyed it very much. A little problem with thier dump site (sign confusion on which one was out of order) other wise a great experience. Clean bathrooms lots of room between campers. Camped two other sites at Yellowstone, Gros Ventre was the best of the three. Only wish they had showers.

Primitive Campground in a very big campground nice and quiet at night very close to the Tetons & Jackson Hole while the close campgrounds were full this one wasn’t and passed a large heard of Buffalo along the way
