Stopped for dinner on the way to our campground as a spur of the moment decision. Food and milkshakes were tasty. The service was also better than some other posts stated. We would definitely eat here again. The only negative thing was the lighting was a little too dim.

Stopped at this place while killing some time between camera shooting locations. At first, the producer, who I was hired to drive around with, thought it was more or less a carryout place. Pretty medium sized place in an isolated area, probably a quickie mart’s size. Once we went in, all was well. We were immediately greeted, seated, and given menus. For my meal, since everything was paid by the production company, I thought I would try something exotic. Frog legs. Yes, I know. Why would I go out of my way to try something so exotic(well at least for me)? For one, I was not paying for the meal. If I hated it, I would not be losing any money on it. Second, it was probably doubtful that I would be able to try it again. Of course, if you ask anyone who has tried them, they would say the ever popular phrase«Tastes like chicken…» My personal take was that they were like chicken, when handling; however, the actual meat was like a fish fillet meat. It would make sense. *Application of evolution forthcoming* Amphibians are like what, a cross between poultry and fish? Yeah, there is my theory.

This is your good old fashion bbq joint. The pulled pork was juicy and the beef brisket was tender. Fried green tomatoes topped it off. Highly recommend! And don’t forget the loaded baked potato — the normal works plus pulled pork!

One of the attractions of small towns are the little holes in the wall that you can find, and Pop’s is a great example of that. You do really have to pick and choose the foods, though, and expect to get the full bbq motif in all of their dishes. For example: their turkey club is more like a cheesesteak with turkey instead of steak. Very hearty and resistant to vegetables. Recommended eating: Their ribs and their pulled pork are by far the crown jewels, as far as their entrees go. Perfectly prepared every time; the meat on the ribs falls right off the bone. Among their sides, their fried green tomatoes are not to be missed, and try the frog legs if you’ve never had them before! Ask about their daily specials, because unique dishes and apps do come up on the regular, including some special all-you-can eat days where you can get your fill of favorites like catfish or ribs. The ice cream and milkshakes are awesome, but the flavors can rotate so always ask what they have. The décor is super fun, and if you’re okay with sitting outdoors you can even bring your dog.

I stumbled across this place quite by accident. I had just asked a local where to eat in the area and he named chain restaurants. I just happened to see this on the roadside and noticed the lot full of cars. Now, to be honest, that lot full of cars delayed me getting a table anytime soon, but I could’ve chased carry out. My wife and toddler and I sat inside. I had the pork plate and she had the brisket(which is praised in a letter from UK’s Coach Cal framed and on the wall). I had beans and cole slaw for my sides while she had green beans and a sweet potato for hers. I preferred the pork, but I admit that the brisket was the most tender and flavorful brisket I have ever had. The sides were all good, with a fair amount of meat in the BBQ beans. Tp they have a nice menu of shakes, but we had no room for dessert. With water to drink, the total with tip was $ 22. I’ll be back when I’m nearby!

Had lunch on 8÷2÷15 with party of 6: Service was good, décor was hilariously amazing, but food was… meh My food was certainly better than my husband’s. I had the pulled pork with green bean and coleslaw. The sides were good but the pork tasted super salty. Husband had the brisket and onion rings and really didn’t dig any of it. The onion rings are style that has an 80⁄20 ratio of breading to onion, and those aren’t our favorite. Tons of fat on the brisket and the flavor wasn’t really there.

We came in at 7:45 and they. Close at 8. Our waitress was extremely friendly, there is someone who gave a tip that the staff was rude but our experience was fantastic, the staff went above and beyond, but I’ll talk about that at the end. Everyone ordered and everyone got what they wanted and the rest errant wasn’t out of anything. The pulled pork was the best I’ve had in a very long time. We got one of their their home made hand spun chocolate milkshakes and they too were fantastic. We left and as we were standing outside taking some family pictures to remember the cute little barbecue place my youngest sister realized she had forgotten her milkshake on the table. She walked back in and found the table had been cleared. Even though the milkshake was nearly empty one of the waitresses made her another one. If we’re in town on the drive back we will definitely be back!
