California Power and Light

Had my power out due to a car hitting my electrical poll. Tuesday after Memorial Day, could not get any electrician on the phone but them. They wanted $ 120 to come and look at it since it was an emergency call. Bad start, but I wanted my power back so I went with it. Henry came after 20 minutes and went right to work. Got the parts, went to the county to start the permit, and had a new replacement 200A cabinet installed by that evening. Kept following up with the inspector and pg&e and got the power back the next day. Great work, great following up with all the agencies and all for a very competative price. Mean time, my nighbour who used a different electrcian still don’t have power 3 days later.

Because I bought an in-​home sauna that required a dedicated circuit, I checked on Unilocal for an electrician with great reviews and CP&L arrived within a few days during a busy holiday schedule for all involved. When Henry’s team arrived at the appointed time, we discussed the dedicated circuit and upgrading our 40+ year old panel AND the possibility of not upgrading our panel saving us a few thousand dollars, In the end, it was our choice and we decided to upgrade with the idea that we would add electrical to the backyard project that may not happen in my life time. Yes, the electrical project cost more than the sauna, but it was in my mind, a pay now or pay later situation.
After the estimate of a panel upgrade, permit, stucco repair, and dedicated circuit, I decided to contract with CP&L and paid the 10% deposit. After the estimating team left, Henry called to schedule the job a week out which gave me time to assemble the sauna and clear the space for it and apply for a new credit card which would give me much needed miles/​points.
Before the job, Henry notified me that my power would be out for the day and that his team would need access to the crawl space which was no problem. I have been down this road before.
Although it took a week for the inspector to come out to give the stamp of approval, I was able to use the sauna as soon as the electrical work was done which took less than a day. The CP&L team was professional, courteous, and conscientious. Above all, Henry was gracious and patient in waiting for my new credit card to arrive! Thank you. I am extremely happy with the work.

This is the second time I have called Henry to do a job. The first time, he installed an overhead light over my sink. It was a complicated job because of previous wiring and a cramped location. He did a wonderful job for a fair price. Today, I called to have a burnt circuit breaker replaced for my dryer. Henry was here within an hour, replaced the circuit breaker in not time at all for a fair price. Could not ask for better service.

Wanted to charge me $ 120 for just showing up and then $ 350 to do a diagnostic test to determine what my estimate would be for a job another electrician was able to help me with over the phone for free.

California Power & Light completed technically difficult electrical upgrade on our triplex on time and for a very reasonable price and in a very professional manner. We will definitely be going back to California Power & Light for all of our electrical needs. Henry, the owner, and Doug, his electrician, replaced a 200A main panel with a 400A main 4-​meter socket panel; replaced two subpanels, grounded numerous outlets, installed GFCI outlets, installed bathroom fans (except venting), and installed electrical circuits for future installation of a whole house fan, and more. All work passed City Building inspection without any problems, and the main panel upgrade required coordination with PG&E to disconnect and then reconnect the power to the triplex. We knew that this work required only experienced and knowledgeable electricians, so we contacted only licensed and fully insured contractors to give us quotes. Of the companies capable of doing this work, California Power & Light was the most reasonable. Henry, the owner, was also very responsive to our calls, and both Henry and Doug were very helpful and nice. The work was performed on time and in a very professional manner. Since we had residents living in the triplex, we wanted to be sure that the residents were not without power over night when PG&E did the required disconnect of power before the main panel was installed. Henry and Doug managed to do all the main panel work, get the City inspection and approval, and PG&E back to reconnect the power within one day — this is absolutely phenomenal work. Also, we appreciated Henry’s attention to safety. He took extra steps that were not required but that added to the safety of the electrical installation. He is a perfectionist in his work — something that we very much appreciate.

Was looking to upgrade our new houses old panel to a new 200amp, add exterior lights, canned lights in various parts of the house and ground outlets. Henry was very prompt to come out, evaluate what we needed (and things I thought we did that we may not need). On his evaluation he was very clear on scope of work and provided a very good price for the work. We purchased the lights switches ourselves to save costs at Henry’s suggestion. For the install of panel and light and all Doug was prompt, polite, and awesome to get everything put in. They completed all work in two days flawlessly. Will be doing more work soon and will call CP&L for sure. And recommend without reserve if you need work done.

I hired California Power and Light to replace my old electrical panel. Henry was great to work with and provided a competitive price. He showed up on time, was extremely professional, courteous, knowledgeable, responsive and organized. He completed the project as promised and I am very pleased with the work he’s done. I will definitely hire him again for other projects in the future.

Henry and Doug at California Power & Light in Redwood City, Ca are the absolute best, I am a repeat customer and continue to love CP&L more with each service call, having never been disappointed. The guys are technically competent and provide fantastic customer service, at great competitive prices. I wouldn’t think of using another contractor for my electrical service needs.

Henry and the team were outstanding. They delivered timely service On a moments notice. Henry was obviously very experienced and able to fix my problem with ease. The second time he worked on a project was an addition to the house where he helped me design the lighting and fans. He had a great eye for the design work and the result was amazing. Overall an exceptional experience and I’ve recommended Henry to several others already.

We have called upon California Power and Light (CPL) several times to do work at our home in Morgan Hill. Henry was on-​time, efficient, and offered great service at a reasonable price. He gave us other ideas of how best to light our patio and backyard areas which was very helpful. The guys at CPL are 100% professional and we really appreciated working with us on making a time work. We will use them again would recommend them without hesitation.

Henry and his team from California Power and LIght did an excellent job. We recently bought a house that was built in 1950. Henry very thoroughly explained the worked that needed to be done and did a great job sticking to our budget and our timeline. He was very professional and easy to work with to get the projects done to make our home safe and updated.

We are so happy with the service we had from Henry!!! We had an old house that needed lots of work. We thought we would just re wire it and be done with it. We were so wrong! Henry explained everthing he would do to update the house and make it safe to live in. Henry put in new lighting and grounded everything. The work was done very well.
