This café unexpectedly brewed my coffee right there in front of me, by the cup! I love the shops that do that. And she gave me a free chocolate-covered espresso bean to top it off! We also ordered an iced tea, which came with a limit of one refill. Boo. But hey, at least there WAS refills. Their quiche also smelled delicious, though I didn’t try any. However, they gave us a mushroom and bacon one when we asked for the ham and broccoli(or something like that — it wasn’t mine). So again boo. But overall good.

This place just keeps getting better and more comfortable. Its been through a few owners but the current one, a real local businessman, is doing a great job keeping this establishment a customer oriented and reliable place for coffee and a conversation, newspaper and a pastry, breakfast croissant or soup and a sandwich. Mary the barista is a big part of what makes this place work. She is on top of things. Try the homemade scones, they really are homemade. They are also carrying local wines and beer. Great Wi Fi also. Nice downtown local atmosphere and alternative to the Global conglomerate drive thrus down the street.

You want good coffee, fresh brewed? This is the best coffee south of San Jose!!! If your in Morgan Hill or going through it’s a must. Lots different types of coffee to choose, from light, mild, to dark. Each coffee is freshly brewed to perfection. The elder ladies brew the best

In an effort to expand my Morgan Hill horizons, I decided to give Hot Java a shot. What a mistake. Not only was my latte bitter, but the milk was scalding hot. I had to wait a good 15 minutes with the lid off for my drink to be a reasonable temperature to drink. I was also disappointed to find that there wasn’t raw sugar offered, as it seems to be a staple sweetener these days in coffee shops. I would suggest employee training, a little attention to detail with your offerings, and investing in thermometers before someone gets hurt.

I’ve dropped in here a few times, never had an amazing cup of coffee or latte that is what would be expected when you’re paying a Batrista to make a good joe. Once I chose a frozen, blended drink, it tasted very generic and artificial. I think they could do better in quality and better trained staff members. They haven’t hit«coffee shop quality» yet and need to train themselves betterl for consistency, hope it improves!

Today I met a friend at Hot Java and as usual I felt like I was home. When I walked in I talked to one of the Owner’s, Carl Schindler(other owner is his wife). Chatted with Mary the Barista, then poked my head into the shop with the adjoining door and talked to Patty about my old Guitar — she’s a musician. Finally sat down with my friend and had a great conversation. This is what a local coffee shop is all about. To top it off, their coffee comes direct from one of the best roasters around, Santa Cruz Roasting Co. Ground fresh into the filter and made to order. Perfection.

I like the place. I only order the dark or medium roast there(black), so take this review for what it’s worth. Made fresh by the cup with a drip setup while you wait. They’ll make a suggestion on what’s good, open the jar and let you take a big whiff of the aroma before you decide. The Peruvian is my personal fave. Reasonably priced and they keep the restroom clean. Cindy is personable and professional. Inside seating is a little funky, but there’s adequate outdoor seating with shade. Bowl of water kept by the door for Fido. Two parking lots close by… one with some shade for your motorcycle.

New Owners! Woo hoo! The last owners… well they were better suited to do something else. Like surgically lowering their«high brow» outlook on life. If you want a decent cup of coffee and hear the latest chit chat about Morgan Hill then this is a great place to stop for a cup. If you are used to Star Bucks you should continue doing business there. The staff at Star Buck is trained to listen to and accommodate an order for«a café latte, 145 degrees, 2 and a half shots of espresso, combo of nonfat and regular milk with a splash of soy, steamed so that the foam partially peaks, no more that ½ inch from the top of the cup, and two pinches of chocolate so you can make one of those nice little stars on the top. I will be checking for that! And don’t forget to make it snappy. This is a good old fashion local corner coffee house.

Yikes! I was all geeked out to support a local business… but, when the product sucks, that makes me sad. I cruised in for a nice mocha on a cold afternoon and was extremely disappointed with the lack of flavor in the product. As I waited for my mocha, there was a gentleman who was face down at one of the tables, not moving… at all. Was he dead? He seemed to move about an hour later when I left… so, I didn’t wait for my coffee near a dead person… but it added to the weirdness of the experience. Customer service was peculiar. There was a woman, actually working, and a girl, anxiously standing by with an empty cup… that she never handed to anyone. It wasn’t a very smooth operation. Even the exchange of money went awkwardly. I hope they can smooth things out and last a while.

It’s a cool place, Morgan Hill doesn’t have many hang outs. A coffee shop like this is a nice way to slow down and have some time to think and read.

I stop in here anywhere from once every few months to a few times per month(more often lately). Overall, I’ve always had good service, the drinks are good, the baristas are friendly and nice, and there’s plenty of seating(inside and out) for when I meet friends here. My one complaint is that today after work I stopped in and was helped by an employee I had not seen there before(which is not really saying anything on its own since I’m not there every single day), but not knowing my usual order she somehow missed that I had ordered my drink as a decaf. I certainly wouldn’t let this stop me from going back, as it was a one-time fluke… but it’s a good reminder to ensure one’s order is always understood. Now if I could just get to sleep sometime soon. ;)

this place is alright. mary was really nice and cheerful which was cool. i would come back for the service. i’ve been here twice. the first time i ordered a caramel white mocha blended drink. i think i watched the girl put like 5 pumps of each syrup in my drink. i was going to stop her, but it was too late. the blend it with milk so it’s very watery. and SWEET! so today. i decided to try something different because i couldn’t even drink the last one i had. so i ordered an iced caramel macchiato. perfectly balanced. but i always thought macchiatos were floated shots, not shaken. herb’s drink was an iced coffee w/breve and vanilla. not sweet at all. i don’t know. but i don’t think i’d come back for the drinks. just the service. and i think it’s a bit expensive for the quality. they use ghiradelli so that’s cool, if you like a sweet drink. come here.
