TheaterFun provided the entertainment for my daughter’s princess birthday party. I was a little nervous because I could find no reviews for them on Unilocal or any other website(there are testimonials on their website, but I prefer to find«independent» reviews). The princess arrived promptly and the party went exactly as described on the site – she applied face glitter(not to be confused with face painting – this is just glitter for the cheeks) to all the children, then read them a story a few times to familiarize them with it. Then the children chose which parts they wanted to be in the story(it really goes smoothly – as a former classroom teacher I was impressed), got costumes, and acted out the story. This will NOT be a «performance» in the sense that they won’t be acting in one area for an audience – it’s more like they play/act out the story together. Most of the large group of children were engaged during this entire process. After they acted out the story, the children got a special gift from the princess and could take photos with her if they liked. The princess dress was of good quality, and the princess herself was very sweet. It’s hard to compete with the«real» princesses at Disneyland, and this is not of that caliber, but I doubt you find anything of that caliber outside of the Disney parks. The children all loved her. It is helpful for parents to provide some assistance with the costuming portion(depending on the age of the children) and some direction. If I were being really picky, I’d say the princess could have used some more«classroom management» skills in terms of transitioning from one part of the activity to the next, and maybe some more vocal energy/volume to help with that, too. A phone consultation with a parent before the party might help clarify expectations so that adults at the party could better assist with this. Our party went smoothly, but then I know how to manage kids during transitions and helped with entertaining the kids when they had to wait for costumes/face glitter. Another absurdly picky comment is that I wish the princess had been wearing some color on her lips. No child seemed to notice, of course, like I said, I’m being absurdly picky here. Her hair, clothing, and appearance in all other respects was great. I would hire TheaterFun again without hesitation. My daughter said the princess was her«extra special favorite» part of her party.
