Best desserts in UT(carrot cake is my favorite). Well worth the drive. Plan on waiting because it’s always packed. I also love their phili stake sandwich served on pita bread. One more thing, their fries are the BEST.

Onion rings and bacon cheeseburger were a hit. The«special»… Not so special. Shaved meats in clumps and pockets of cheese and horseradish made is so I had to take it apart and re-layer 3 times. A little attention to detail would help a lot.

Taggarts is a hidden gem that I’ve been going to my entire life. Location wise it’s a bit of a drive from where any sane person would live, but that’s part of what gives it its charm. It’s nestled in a canyon right off of a highway, which would usually be an issue, but for some reason the traffic doesn’t bother you. Their food is great! Part of what makes Taggarts unique is that instead of using traditional bread they use Pita bread for any time of sandwich or burger. Personally I usually get the French dip(I highly recommend it), but over my ten years of visiting here I have tried almost everything on the menu. Every visit I’ve had the food comes out hot so the cooks and the wait staff are always on top of it. The staff is always very polite and friendly and I have never had a bad experience. If you go at night during the weekend, be prepared for a long wait to be seated. This place is extremely popular! The tables are always clean, partly because they use large strips of heavy duty paper to cover the table and throw it away after each use. I’ve never once been seated at a table that had any leftover food from the previous occupants. However the restaurant itself isn’t the only reason to visit this place. During the warmer months of the year you can sit out on the back patio and listen to the gurgling of the giant fish pond across the back yard of the restaurant. The scenery itself is enough to make me want to visit this place. And if your lucky you’ll get a chance to see their beautiful pet peacock that they let wander around the yard(don’t worry, it’s all very classy and sanitary) Oh and once you’ve eaten, pick up a sugar cookie from their bakery on your way out. They are giant and they are delicious! Taggarts will always be on my top 5 list of favorite restaurants. I hope one day it will be on yours.

Hidden gem of of 84. Great food and great service. The fry sauce and the turkey burger were amazing. A must stop on the way out of Ogden or heading into Salt Lake City

I have eaten here quite a bit and I love it every single time. The servers are always really nice and it’s an all around good establishment. It can get really crowded on the weekends and during nearby events. I would highly suggest the Pot Roast on the weekends. Great local food.

Amazing food, nothing is bad. I love that the patio is for adults only., sometimes you just need to be away from kids altogether! The carrot cake is amazing.

The food always seems good, but this experience was awkward… We came 30min from home for my wife’s birthday dinner on a beautiful evening with hopes to be seated outside on the patio. Little did we know that when dining with children the establishment will not allow you to be seated outside even with very few patrons. Said it was because of «rattlesnakes, and ambiance». So if you’d like to sit outdoors for a family event don’t bother coming to this place… I would like to say that the food and service is usually really good here and I would come again. But I guess I will need a sitter next time.

Brought my family here based on recommendation from friend. Loved the atmosphere and service was great. I ordered the chicken burrito which was lack luster. Just crockpot pulled chicken stuffed into a flour tortilla with flavorless white sauce. Really disappointing. The wife’s burger on the other hand was great. Cooked well on a fresh homemade bun. Beer batter fries are also really good. Got a bunch of cookies and desserts to take home and found ourselves greatly disappointed. We tried them that same night and they were stale and flavorless. My wife put it best — they are trying to hide something when they pile on the toppings. We ended up throwing away most of the desserts. Really feels like the place has lost their way with cooking great, fresh, & homemade food. Really don’t see myself craving or wanting to come back anytime soon. :-/

The food here is mediocre at best. I would never eat a meal here again, it is flavorless. But I would return for the desserts. The carrot cake is to die for and the sugar cookie is amazing! Next time I’m just getting dessert to go

Ate here during the Ragnar Wasatch Back. They were(predictably) slammed from the extra customers but handled it pretty well. Service was friendly and they had a nice selection of beers(got a Uinta Gold Spike Hef on tap). We ordered the spin dip as an appetizer and the pita it came with was pillowy and warm. The dish itself was MASSIVE. It was too much appetizer for the 5 of us. Everyone’s entrees were enjoyed. The back patio area where we sat was charming and had some nice lights strung up. Their dessert case was exceptional-looking but we didn’t partake. This little place is nestled in a canyon and we all really enjoyed eating here.

One of our favorites! It’s a beautiful hour drive from Salt Lake. Take the scenic route east up I-80 and down I-84, it’s a wonderful drive any time of the year. We haven’t had a bad meal there yet. The diversity of dishes and spontaneity of flavors is always fun. Eat outside if you can. The sounds from the highway can be a bit close, however, the peacocks, mountain views and garden areas are stunning. Taggart’s Grill is a destination!

Peacock welcoming committee, amazing deserts, and the jalapeño burger was amazing. The only thing that could make it better is if it had more room. Waits can get a little long. The good news is that the setting of the restaurant is beautiful.

How have I missed this place? I mean seriously, a little place, barely visible from the freeway, 10 miles from anywhere. And the best food for several counties! Being a Friday night, we had about a 40 minute wait. They cruelly make you sit across from the dessert counter and stare at the most delicious cheesecakes, carrot cakes, and other goodies. By the way they were flying out in to go boxes I knew that 1.) this was going to be a big meal and 2.) I better pre-order the coffee cheesecake before my piece gets eaten by someone less deserving. We started with the chips and homemade salsa. Chips were a solid«meh» but the salsa was fantastic and made up for it. Just the right balance of garlic, spice, and heat. The soup, oooohhh the fantastic soup. Creamy chicken with artichoke and this honestly would have been a satisfactory dinner with the homemade bread they serve it with. Divine. We both ordered the sirloin. One medium and one medium rare. Both cooked perfectly and dressed with mushrooms and a bit of hollandaise sauce. Served with sautéed squash and the best scalloped potatoes you’ve experienced. At a $ 27 price tag the value is great for the perfection of the steak matched with the great sides. And yes, the cheesecake made it home in a to go bag.

Definitely a surprise! This hidden gem is tucked away between mountains — it has a great atmosphere. The dining room was a little chilly, but we had coats so we were fine. We started with the pita bread appetizer. The pita was phenomenal, but the«pesto» sauce tasted closer to ranch than pesto(not that I’m complaining). The menu is surprisingly diverse — they offer pizza(on pitas), sandwiches(on pitas), mexican food(on pitas), and burgers(with choice of bun or pita). Didn’t expect such pita love in the middle of Utah. The burgers were HUGE, and topped with all sorts of fun stuff!(I did not expect sprouts at this place). The buns were delicious and hearty. Our server was great and admitted if she didn’t know something(she seemed pretty young and couldn’t answer our beer questions, so she sent over someone more knowledgeable). Overall, a great experience!

When I’m on the road, I prefer to go where locals go. Taggart’s brings new meaning to this. When my client told me that it was in the middle of a mountain and that if I blinked I would miss it, he didnt lie. The best part? Warning signs about keeping an eye on your kids when outdoors cuz of rattlesnakes #wicked! The food menu surprised me. I didnt expect such quality and assortment. Service was excellent and friendly, disproving the fact that all teens are jerks. LOL One tip: Do NOT leave without eating their cookie. It’s slammin!

NOTFORLARGEPARTIESORBIRTHDAYS We called about a party of 16 plus 2 high chairs… We were told they don’t take reservations but could call ahead 30 minutes before we arrived. It’s an hour from SLC, so when we were 30 minutes away we called ahead and were told they don’t accept call aheads for parties over 12! We asked for the two high chairs at the end of the tables, and we’re told«we cannot put high chairs there but we can put regular chairs there.» We were asked if our orders were together or separate, we said just divided into 3 families, then she said«it’s really too difficult for me to split up.» We brought our own birthday cake with small paper plates for a 16th birthday, and while cutting it were told, «we don’t allow outside food… Well we do but we charge you $ 2PERPLATE!!» So an additional $ 32 to serve our own cake that we brought! And we were ALSO buying their desserts to take home! We were so disgusted by their horrible treatment we won’t ever make this mistake again!

I’m not sure why this place has a ton of positive reviews… I found the place to be decent, but far from 4 – 5 stars. The food was good, not great, but good. The burgers were okay(far from the best in the state as someone wrote in a review), the salads were good but the dressings lacked flavor and were below average. The fish and chips were bla and so was the service(and it took five minutes for her to show up and another five minutes just to get our drinks). I will say that they bread, buns & pita bread that they had were amazing and I will stop and grab a few when driving between here and Wyoming… but that doesn’t happen very often if at all so I doubt I will be back. The service did make su feel rushed the entire time, but the establishment itself was very nice, but nothing to write home about.

Excellent food. We started off with the artichoke dip served slightly warm with hot pita bread slices and black corn chips. It’s completely different than your average Applebees spinach artichoke dip so as long as you go in realizing this, I think you’ll like it. It’s white, creamy, and has a strong cream cheese rate. For my entrée, I had the French Dip Sandwich, which was more like a Philly Steak and Cheese Sandwich. I got mine with cheese, roast beef chunks(Their French Dip isn’t sliced, it comes in chunks instead), onions, green peppers, and no mushrooms. It was warm, gooey(because of the homemade pita bread) and absolutely delicious! My wife had the shredded chicken enchilada. It was also very good. We both got a garden salad which included green lettuce, shredded cheddar cheese, black olives, grape tomatoes, shredded carrots, and ranch dressing. It was good but it would have been great had it been COLD. In contrast, think of how cold aTexas Roadhouse green salad is. We went after tubing the nearby river and, during this time of year, that’s probably a bad idea as our wait was 90+ minutes! However, we waited it out and simply ordered desserts while waiting. Their carrot cake was also gooey, thick, and heavy(it literally weighed a pound or two!) but it was still very good. One slice is plenty for 2 – 3 people, even if you get it before you eat your meal. Their peanut butter cookie and pink sugar cookie were also delicious. All in all, it’s a fun atmosphere, and unique, out-of-the way place, that has some of the best homemade pita bread I’ve ever had!
