Dirty and terrible service. Rock n Roll playing in the restaurant would have been ok if the cook would have turned down his head banging music in the kitchen, but he refused. They obviously don’t care about the customer.

Although I have never had food at gibbie’s, it is a great local bar to go to for people that are looking for more of an older crowd. It is one of the cheaper bars in town with great specials all the time. It is not the cleanest place in town but it is a quiet bar that never had a rowdy crowd. The live music is usually great there too!

Gibbies boast a huge bar with a tone of thirsty college students ready to toss down more than a few brews. If you’re looking for a crowd or a local band this is a place that you might want to put on your Morgantown dance card. The service is ok, but for me, the food is just your basic bar fare, nothing special. This is a solid place to grab a drink with friends or watch a game.

I love this place & go here often. Don’t get the wings, they are run of the mill, but the rest is awesome and the atmosphere is great. On Saturday nights Soul Miners comes in and sing live… It’s a good time :) on Wednesday nights they have trivia and karaōke!

You’re in a small college town with an awesome downtown. You want to grab a drink or hangout with some friends, but you’re not looking for a dank hangout filled with 21-year-olds. You’re over dark rooms with neon lights. You might want to grab some food, a craft beer, or a cheap mixed rink. Gibbie’s is perfect for that. It’s a great downtown spot that fits perfectly with the eclectic feel of downtown Morgantown. It’s a fun, local hangout for 20-somethings and the older crowd alike. It’s not as separated from the young crowd(such as Iron Horse Tavern or the Apothecary), it definitely caters to them as well. But it’s a good combination of what makes Morgantown fun, while not being as unappealing of many of the other bars aimed at college students. Yes, they’ve got drink specials, tons of cheap beer, and plenty of boozy, sweet drinks. Yes, it can have a bit of a ruckus. But they’ve also got a very impressive collection of taps, a pretty decent menu(their wings are great), and plenty of events and happenings. It’s a staple of any night out in Morgantown for me, and one of the places I look forward to visiting. It’s the perfect balance of «let’s party» and«hanging out with friends,» with everything from cheap mixed drinks to legitimately impressive craft beer. I’m a fan.

The bar food is decent/average but what do you expect? People come here for the beer and atmosphere(which is great). Large and varied beer selection. Best bar in Morgantown, good alternative for those who hate the clubs. As good as it gets in Morgantown, but I’ve been to much nicer bars.

We were not impressed with Gibbie’s. The food was solidly OK – the veggie quesadilla was fine, though it took about 45 min to produce. My boyfriend had to send his salad back due to rotten lettuce slime. The server brought him curly fries instead, which were only slightly more palatable than the salad. The server was sweet, but her attentiveness and responsiveness could have been much better. In addition, the TVs were unnecessarily loud for the number of people in the bar and the fact that it was a preseason game on TV. Gibbie’s looks cute from the outside, but unfortunately, we were steadily dissapointed once we stepped inside.

Gibbie’s is great! Their brew fries and burgers are amazing, and 2-for-Tuesdays is steal! Drinks are still pretty pricey during the week, but it’s a great place to hang out and drink with your friends. They also have an extensive selection of beer on tap.

I suppose I expect too much nowadays from my restaurants and bars being that I spend a lot of time with my girlfriend in her town of Brooklyn or my town of Jersey City/Hoboken. I suppose I should stop trying to compare my favorite buffalo chicken sandwich from NJ to anything I get outside of the Tri-State area. I suppose these things don’t help Gibbie’s and its Unilocal rating. On a visit to West Virginia University for my cousins graduation, he brought me to a few of his favorites. Unfortunately, this wasn’t my favorite at all. Yuengling was still $ 4 a glass, which is how much I pay in NYC. How is that possible? I ordered a chicken caesar wrap, which Gibbie forgot that chicken was involved. This wrap was smaller than an elementary school lunch. Taste? I don’t think so. Tasteanogood. I only am giving Gibbie’s an extra star because my cousin loved the place and was excited to show it off.

This place is alright. The service is hit or miss, and the same goes for the food. Sometimes they have a live band, for which they charge a cover, and it’s never a good band… so not worth it.

Wow, this place has gone down hill big time. We stopped by here yesterday after the game in an attempt to find somewhere where we could grab a beer and get away from 22 yr olds. Mission accomplished but the staff is completely oblivious to customers and the whole waiting on people for tip thing that seems to occur in many restaurants in the US. After waiting 20 minutes for someone to greet us, I finally had to go up yo the bar to order not only a beer but food as well. We got the fried pickles because who doesn’t love anything fried with ranch dressing? To my surprise, they came out in the spear form rather than the chip form I’ve seen 95% of the time. And the spears were just depressing, the breading wouldn’t stay on and it was more like hot pickles without any coating, eww.

Our party of 6 ate at gibbies on 09−18−10 at 8 pm. We sat in the back and had loud music distracting us. The ceiling paint was hanging in sheets above our heads and the AC vents were covered on dust that could be easily seen in the low light. Wires were hanging everywhere and we just had the feeling of uncleanliness. That joint needs a face-lift. My steak sub was nasty. A unfresh grinder roll was too much bread and not toasted. Very little stuffing of main ingredients. The curly fries were barely warm and under cooked. Another person had ordered Lasagna and it came out burnt! It was burnt on top and I mean black. I can’t believe the server left the kitchen with it. I cooked in restaurants for seven years and that order would have never left the kitchen! Needless to say the Lasagna was sent back and something different ordered. The salads were ok for the rest in the party. Our server was inattentive and slow. We all agreed that there will be no future visits to gross gibbies in the future. Not recommended.

I’ve never eaten at Gibbie’s(other than cheese fries), but the atmosphere is great, the beer selection is wide, and part of the bar is non-smoking. The real highlight of Gibbie’s though, is that it’s one of the few Morgantown bars where professionals mingle with students. Gibbie’s isn’t a club, so it tends to attract a crowd that likes to sit with friends and enjoy a drink. This is a rarity for Morgantown bars.

I went there with a friend and had a Turkey club on a pretzel roll, my friend had Carolina BBQ(mustard based) wings, and we shared the Cuban pork nachos. Everything was fantastic plus they had a wide draft beer collection. The only downside was too much salt on the fries, which happens a lot, and does not over power the other food which I will all try again.

Wish I had stayed for a few beers or to catch a game because it seemed like a typical pub in a college town that could have been a decent time. Instead, I had somewhere to go, so I can only comment on the food– I had a sandwich that was way too salty if not counteracted by a bland and bready roll. Waffle fries were good, and service was attentive.

while passing thru morgantown, we searched for food on high street. Somehow we ended up here. Prices are what i’d expect for bar food in this part of the country. The service was okay. The food however was so salty it ruined my next couple of meals. I hate a «pulled» pork sandwich which was chunks of? pork lathered in a salt suspension they called bbq sauce.

Relatively chill pub on High St. A few decent beers on tap. But a low rating, mainly because of 1) the terrible food and 2) the equally lousy service. My wife’s steak salad was terrible — the meat looked like dogfood — and it arrived almost half an hour before my burger. The waitress was clueless and distracted. So OK for a drink or four, but avoid eating there.
