Residence Inn Morgantown

Good location, super clean, allows animals, ok breakfast, tiny gym and an okay swimming pool. The room I stayed in was cozy and roomy with a stove, dishes, fridge and dishwasher. Staff was great and they have a nice little outside area with some grills.

Worst hotel I have ever stayed at. The rooms were nice, but the staff was awful. We were here for a business meeting for 2 days. First thing they raised the price the second day because of a home football game the following day. Second thing they would answer phones instead of helping customers waiting to be helped at the desk. Third thing on day of checkout, we had an early meeting and wanted to leave our stuff and come back by 10 for checkout, there was a policeman guarding the parking lot; apparently they sold their parking for the football game later that night. We were informed by policeman that we would not be allowed back in lot without a hang tag, and the desk wouldn’t give us a hang tag in case we tried to use it to come back for the football game.

Wish I could have packed the shower and whoever keeps it clean and taken home with me.
Free microwave popcorn in each room.
This is important because there is no vending machines on the floors, only the snacks for sale in the main lobby area.
Washers and dryers for guest use is available.
Breakfast was sufficient and really appreciate the crock pot of oatmeal along with the toppings.

Great staff! Very helpful! Great rooms! Awesome location! Staff was overwhelmingly helpful. We got there at 3am and we greeted warmly and they even gave us a discount!

Hospitality, that’s it. Staff very friendly and courteous and helpful. Wonderful stay here. Rooms are spacious and very clean. Breakfast was hot and good, especially loved the cook your own waffles. Very surprised to find a happy hour in the evening with a full meal at no extra charge (especially nice not having to go outside in below freezing weather. Although I wasn’t able to bring my dogs with me this trip but I always want to give a big shout out to hotels that are pet friendly. Didn’t get a chance to use them they have a work-​out room with cardio equipment, a small pool. There is also a laundry room. Free wifi. Cable TV with basic cable channels and HBO. They have computers and printer in the lobby, both free of charge. I would definitely stay here again.

Just stayed there. I have found my new favorite place to stay for my frequent visits to WVU. Staff –super friendly and efficient. Stayed in a Junior suite… it was perfect. Clean, maintained, relaxing. I travel a lot and I’ve stayed in much more expensive rooms that didn’t allow me to relax like that. Hotel is pet friendly, bring Fido!
Buffett was meh. Things ran out and the quality wasn’t that great but again, the staff rocked.
I’ll be back in two weeks. Count on it…

Great location and super friendly staff (with the exception of one). Kitchen crew did a great job supplying the breakfast, even on a day it got slammed. Front desk was always helpful, and housekeeping did a great job except for one lady who clearly forgot to take her happy pills. No complaints at all with gym, pool, and laundry facilities. Located near restaurants, shopping, and WVU. Will definitely stay here again if in the area!

Excellent stay. We had one of the recently remodeled rooms and it was spacious, clean and everything worked. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The free breakfast buffet was tasty, and well maintained. We always stay here when we’re in Morgantown.

The Residence Inn is awesome! It’s affordable, and you get a lot of space for what you pay.
I was here overnight this summer, and booked a room specifically at the Residence Inn because it had a full kitchen (full sized stove, pots and pans, dishes, cutlery, dish washer soap, etc.), a microwave and a full sized fridge. This was particularly important because due to my severe food allergies, I prefer to cook my own meals at home so when I am traveling, access to a kitchen is a godsend. I was able to cook a full meal and not worry about accidentally dying at a restaurant due to anaphylaxis.
The air conditioning in the room was excellent, and I even had to turn it off before I went to sleep because the room got a bit too cold. There was a heat wave when I arrived this summer (i.e. 100F+), so it was nice to be able to rest in a comfortable temperature at night.
I did not hear my neighbors, and it was a quiet hotel. The TV was situated in the living room and both bedrooms, so it was nice to be able to watch the local news as a visitor. I recommend this hotel just for the full kitchen for folks like myself or if you have a large family. The bath was full sized, the hair dryers worked perfectly, and the room was clean. I could not have asked for more, and I hope anyone who visits Morgantown will consider this hotel. It is the Residence Inn, and not the Mandarin, so keep that in mind. Prices do go up a bit if it is during the holidays or during a special school occasion/​event so keep that in mind and book as early as possible if you can.

We stayed at the Residence Inn in Morgantown, WV for two nights on 6 – 7 July 2012 and checked out on the morning of the 8^th. Initially, my first impressions of the hotel were positive. We were in town for a wedding that was scheduled for 4:30 pm on that Saturday at a local church. Saturday morning we got up and had a leisurely breakfast which was the typical «hotel breakfast» that includes the make-​your-​own waffles (the batter is very, very, very thin though) and the powdered scrambled eggs and the micro-​waved sausage patties. Our room was on the first floor and, when we walked to the lobby for breakfast, there was no sign of the maid’s cart that they use in the corridors at all (this observation will make sense a bit later.) Although we all made that observation, no one thought anything about it until pondering in retrospect. After breakfast we walked back to our room (still no sign of a maid cart anywhere), changed into swim wear and headed to another hotel in the area where friends of ours where staying. We left the room at about 10:30ish and still haven’t seen a maid anywhere and assumed that someone from housekeeping would arrive and perform their duties in due course. We stayed out of the room until around 2 pm and came back to get ready for the 4:30 wedding. We left the room again at about 3:45 and stayed gone until 6ish to change for the reception. All this time nothing had been done in the room. After we got back to the room at around 10:30, I called the front desk to inquire as to the reason we did not get our room serviced. Nicki, the front desk clerk and apparently the assistant GM, was apologetic and brought us 5 dark brown towels with hand towels and face cloths and a full complement of the standard hotel amenities (soap, toilet paper, etc.). I have never, in all my years seen brown towels in a hotel. We were quite leery about them because, as you can imagine, it was impossible to ascertain their cleanliness. She also told me that she would look into the problem. Other than the apology and towels and such, no other remedy was offered by the hotel.
The next morning, upon check out, I inquired about the reason for not getting service and the front desk clerk informed me that they had not gotten to the bottom of it yet. Still no other remedy was offered. I asked, «Is that it then?» and she asked me what she would like me to do? I asked her what she thinks is fair. In my mind I am thinking that a portion of my daily rate goes to cover the cost of housekeeping and that that service is included with the price I paid. The front desk clerk then informed me that she was only «authorized» to offer a $ 25.00 credit and, although that was a nice gesture, I didn’t think it was going to solve the issue. I didn’t, and still don’t have a monetary figure in mind and never offered one up. I merely asked the front desk clerk to have the GM call me. That was Sunday morning — it is now late Monday evening and I have yet to hear from the GM. I did call at about 2 pm today (Monday) and inquire about why I had not received a call and to inquire about the amount of the «pending» charge on my credit card. I was rudely placed on hold — you know, when they ask you to hold and don’t wait for a response and then just go about their business hoping you’ll eventually just hang up. I did, in fact, hang up, but called right back and the same person (Nikki) answered and, of course she was just attempting to take me of hold, so she says… — yeah… right! So, now Nikki, the assistant GM tells me that the head person of the housekeeping staff had informed her that we told her that we didn’t want service. I told Nikki that that was false and no such interaction had occurred. The then told me, and I quote, «We back our hotel staff.» I then told her that she just called me a liar. She said that she wasn’t calling me a liar and I told her that, yes, she was, in so many words. Now, I am getting angry, and rightly so. But little Miss Nikki was not finished insulting me yet — she went on to mention that, «you only paid $ 129.00 a night and that is $ 100 off the regular room rate.» I answered back that I paid the published rate for a Triple A (AAA) member and that that it was not published that we would have to forego having our room serviced when I booked at that rate. I was now getting angrier and informed her that she was not doing well and that I needed the GM to call me. The call never came — so, I am obligated to tell the tale to anyone who might find this kind of information useful. I will also be lodging a formal complaint to Marriott corporate and you may see this review on other websites where hotel reviews are found.
