Stay away, Wally is not someone you want to do business with, I will go out of my way to make sure my cycling friends stay away from his obnoxious attitude. News flash, if you were such a good businessman you would be out playing golf, or even, get this riding a bike, do some work on your craft, PS its not bikes, its customer service.

While I’m sure he knows a lot about bikes, the guy who runs this place is a pompous jerk who tried to screw me over. Give this place a miss. The rear wheel on my bicycle broke down along the Henry Hudson trail and I took it here to see if they could fix it. The guy said it would cost $ 300 to fix it. I thought that was a bit high, so I took it home and went and got the parts myself. $ 12 worth of parts and a couple YouTube videos later, I had fixed the wheel myself. Planet Bike in Marlboro later told me they would’ve charged $ 35 to fix the wheel. This guy wanted $ 300. He insisted that he needed to fix the brakes too, which he didn’t. Though the brakes were not in great shape, I could still brake the bike and could’ve ridden it home. I think he was clearly trying to take advantage of the fact that my bike broke down near his shop and that I would have to lug it home if I didn’t fix it there. The guy also insisted that I «needed» a full tuneup and that he wouldn’t fix my wheel unless I paid for a full tuneup. This is B.S. No one ever«needs» a tuneup, though it might be a good idea. If he would’ve been honest and said«it would be a good idea to get a tuneup but it’s up to you», then I probably would’ve paid for one but of course he was trying to screw me and wasn’t going to fix my bike unless I bought $ 300 worth of services from him, including the tuneup. I won’t give him a «1» however because I’m sure he does know a lot about bikes. Too bad he doesn’t have comparable knowledge about how to run a business.
