the location is phenomenal and I’m sure it’s a great restaurant… unfortunately they close significantly before their posted closing time of 2:30(already quite early).

Had dinner there last Friday before attending a show at the Red Rock Amphitheater. We shared Bison Chili and Elk Sliders with onion rings and BBQ Sauce. Delicious! It took a while to get our meals, so they gave us two free desserts! We shared them with another couple that was sitting at our table. The chocolate brownie dessert and the crème brule were delicious-large portions that should be shared. The concert was suppose to start at 6pm, but once we got to the restaurant, the waitress told us that the group we were there to see, Railroad Earth, would not be preforming until 9:30pm! We had made reservations at 5pm, because Railroad Earth was suppose to start at 6pm or so we thought. We did not see anything about others groups(there were 2) preforming first. If we had known, we would of arrived much later for dinner… Beautiful views both from the restaurant and the amphitheater.

We stopped in for a late lunch before hiking around Red Rocks. The service was absolutely terrible. You can tell that they’re the only game in town because this service would put them out of business if there were literally any other option. The hostess originally told us it would be 15 – 20 minutes before we could sit on the patio, so we chose to eat inside because we were starving. Needless to say, we should have waited for the outdoor seating because we waited at our table for 15 minutes in a mostly empty dining room before I went up to the hostess stand to see if a waiter had been assigned to our table. We finally had our server come over, who acted as though nothing had happened. I ordered the Mediterranean Caesar with grilled chicken and E. ordered the Turkey Club with the green chili mac and cheese. It took another 40 minutes to get the food out, which I find pretty inexplicable given that we were ordering food that doesn’t take very long to prepare. The food was decent, so one star for that. After dropping off our food, our waiter proceeded to give us the check without asking whether we wanted anything else.

Good food, pleasant service, nice atmosphere and a great view. Not too pricy with a decent menu selection. A nice conclusion to a long hike around the trading post and surrounding rocks.

My family & I just ate here for lunch on non busy day. Service was borderline terrible. We sat for 20 min before a waiter finally greeted us. Then the food took another 40 minutes to arrive. We had the SW Turkey BLT, the nachos, and the Colorado beef sandwich. No one liked their choice. The manager was unapologetic about the tardiness of the food and offered no discount. We will not be returning.

I would highly recommend you choose something else. Service — We went there after visiting the park about 15 min after they opened. The hostess was not very friendly and told us it would be a 10 to 15 min wait. The place was empty so in not sure why we waited. After being seated we waited again for our server to bring water and ask us for drinks. The same level of service was given to us the entire meal. Food — we ordered chicken nachos as a starter with guac. Came out with more beans than chicken and no guac.(Had to ask server to remove from tab twic which added 15 min to our escape from this place). I ordered an ahi tuna salad and I honestly could not have told you what protein I was eating. It was unrecognizable and tasteless.

There is no doubt that the beauty of Red Rocks makes this restaurant special. But the new menu is pretty awful. Our table tried four items and they were all pretty bad. Their previous menu was much better, especially the garlic fries and green chili. The service has always been slow. Possibly due to the new menu it was slower than usual. It took a total of 90 minutes from seating to leaving. Many people were leaving their meals to get to their seats, and many were frustrated having waited to get in and then not be able to eat before the show. Also, there are no seats at the bar, so waiting for a table is uncomfortable. This used to be a favorite spot of ours. We may give it one more try. But honestly, the food within the venue is good, and if it is a nice evening I would recommend avoiding Shiprock.

We stopped here while checking out the Amphitheater, and it was pretty good! We had an order of the Spicy Rock Wontons: bacon, scallions, green chilies, and cream cheese. The sweet chili sauce and chipotle mustard set it off just right. Our server was fast and friendly, and there’s a great view outside. I’ll definitely stop here if I’m in the area again.

Unimpressed(insert McKayla Maroney face here). Food came at a decent time, but paying for the bill took 15+ minutes. Food is nothing special. Cobb salad was small without that much meat. Bison tamales were all right. It was out of convenience we came here, as we were visiting the Red Rocks. See those, but I’d advise getting your grub on somewhere else.

I’d have to say the restaurant with some of the most beautiful scenery around. Nestled below the Red Rocks visitor center, this place is a nice casual place to get a great meal before or after a concert or just visiting Red Rocks. Had the elk sliders along with the Colorado Cobb salad and I highly recommend them both. Full bar and a great desert menu as well.

Summer is finally here! And this sun-worshiping Denverite finds nothing more pleasurable than eating and drinking outside. This is the main reason why I decided to give ship rock grill a try. We had some time to kill before a concert, so decided to grab a few appetizers and drinks beforehand. We sat outside and the panoramic view is surreal. I have always loved how magnificent this place is, especially when the sun hits the red rocks– breathtaking. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. He recommended the Angus Beef Burger and garlic fries– both items were delicious.

Absolute worst service I’ve ever had in my entire life… no that is not an exaggeration. A group of 4 of us decided to stop at lunch on a Thursday. We were finally seated on the patio and placed our drink order after 15 minutes of seeing no one. Our waitress forgot one of the waters… didn’t see her for 10 more minutes… she forgot it again… we reminded her and waited 10 more minutes… Then I actually got up and went to the bar and got the water myself while staring at the waitress. ITDIDNTREGISTERTOHERWHAT I WASDOING. We waited 30 more minutes until we saw our waitress. We complained and never heard an apology. Another waitress had to come fill our drinks and we asked her to see a manager. When the manager came over we told her everything that had happened and she just looked at us and said«would you guys like anything else to drink?» No apology, nothing. There were a lot more instances including a missing meal that was never put in. They wanted to give us French fries as an apology, and said they can comp a «couple meals». I swear I have never ever had such awful service anywhere. I could go on forever about how awful this place is… Almost 2 hours for 4 meals and 2 rounds of WATER… Go there to see a concert or the view, do NOT eat here. Trust me.

I wanted to make reservations for lunch for 5 people. I called the phone number for them but got an answering machine stating to leave the details of the reservation and someone would call you back asap within business hours… so I did. This was on a Friday. Guess what? No return call! I called again on Monday… same routine, left another message… again no return call. Trying one last time I called again on Tuesday, surprise… Answering machine!!! This time in my message I said that if they are just already booked for that day, a courtesy call would REALLY be appreciated so that I know. Nope… no call. Guess their business is doing so well that they don’t need any new customers. Good riddance.

Small portions and higher than average prices. I had a half sandwich and bison chili, which was good but very small and around $ 9 – 10. My guest had a steak sandwich and fries that resembled a Philly cheesesteak and he reported it to be substandard with what seemed like it had the fake melted cheese you get from 7 – 11 nachos on it. He also said it didn’t fair well on his stomach after and he may have made a mistake by eating there. I must mention that I love Red Rocks and it’s nice to have a sit down restaurant there, but just because you are the only place to go up there doesn’t mean that it’s ok for the food to be lower quality with higher prices.

Excellent food and excellent service. Had the cod sandwich($ 11) which was crispy/delicious and fries that had crunchies on them(amazing). Loaded nachos had fresh ingredients($ 9) and one of the best I’ve ever had. Bill was $ 26 for lunch for 2 w drinks.

I made a reservation here for dinner before a concert. I have to say i wasn’t expecting much, i was expecting slow, or rushed service, certainly not the perfect service that we received. The food was really good too. We had Elk Sliders and Steak and Fries. It was a really good steak. They ran out of our drink of choice so the next drink was on the house. Great service, really good food. I was very pleasantly surprised.

It is the single choice for a sit down meal at red rocks. It took a long time for me know it existed, and then even longer to make an effort to get there. We had friends in from out of town — perfect excuse! I planned a 1pm monday lunch on an amazing day! Hostess was adorable and very sweet! Wait staff seemed overwhelmed. It seems they have the staff cover both inside and outside, so the waitress working the table on either side of you, isp robably not yours. If you want additional drinks or maybe a side or ranch… forget it. Need to pay? well, enjoy the views a bit longer. Basically it’s a tourist trap, so you best be liking what your gettin. The food was ok, not amazing. Hubby started with an appetizer of crab rangoons,(they extra was bacon insdie) — the plate come out with 3 little fried wonders sitting there, with a side of weird mustard bigger than on of the fried things… weird, overpriced. Hubby and one of our friends went with burgers, not terrible, not amazing, garlic fried — beware — they are just their regular fries with a spoonful of garlic dropped on top… sigh. I went with the spinach salad with salmon. IT was kinda pidly for the price — a couple chunks of blue cheese, a couple cranberries, maybe 3 walnuts, and an ok size of salmon on top. The dressing was meh, but since i knew i would never get out waitresses attention, i ate it up! Go with lowered expectations, make reservations, and enjoy the view!(3rd star is for the view) Tip: When your food comes, ask for your check at the same time!

My daughter is having her wedding reception at The Ship Rock Grille in August, so on one of my recent trips to CO, we decided to visit the venue to firm up some details. It was not very busy, since it was a Saturday in March, so we chose to eat at the grille. I ordered the elk burgers and I have to say that they were amazing! My expectations of the restaurant were not really that high to begin with since I was aware that it was obviously a grille/bar type atmosphere, so I wasn’t disappointed at all in the service or food. Would I eat there again, probably so. I’m definitely looking forward to the wedding in August, which I know will be amazing and I’m sure that the onsite caterer won’t disappoint.

This is the only sit-down restaurant at Red Rocks, and for that I am very grateful. Eat dinner here first and avoid the show traffic. This is NOT a «fancy nice» place(no tablecloths), and is closer to a chain restaurant than one might hope for. The quality of the food was better than I expected; I had the salmon burger, my wife had the veggie pita, which she loved. Good wine list although only by the plastic glass, not by the bottle at shows. Service was a little slow but better than I expected based on other reviews. If you are in a hurry, do not come here. Give yourself at least an hour to eat. Definitely recommended. Not the best restaurant in the world, but for what it is, it is good. Some people seem to think it is overpriced, but I thought it was appropriate. Considering that they have a monopoly, things could be a LOT worse!
