Love the food and the service. And BYOB just adds to the pleasure. Everything was cooked well. My daughter did complain a little about the garlic pungency in the chilly garlic noodles because she doesn’t like very spicy food(everyone else didn’t mind it) but other than that really loved the shredded lamb, drums of heaven, Hakka noodles, fish and fried rice.

Ming I, in Edison, was my first foray into Indian Chinese. I loved it. Fast forward and there is a Ming II in Morristown. It’s fancier, more expensive and shares a drink menu with SM23. The verdict: «Meh.» Our waiter was grumpy and overwhelmed. One of the waiters you have to think about the tip for — which sucks because it’s typically 20 percent for me with tax… automatic. The drinks were pretty good — although my spicy margarita was served straight up in a martini glass. Ice? Salt? My mother’s caperhinia with jalapeño was excellent though. We ordered appetizers — the lotus root and the drums of heaven. I remember the drums being better but the lotus root was still yummy. Our mains were the sizzling lamb — which was too sweet and when it’s served sizzling on the table the smoke is spice infused so it gets all up in your face and senses. We also ordered the lobster with black pepper sauce which wasn’t great. The sauce was good but the lobster was mushy and minced into mush balls. The Ming fried rice was very good. Overall the food was pretty salty… and unfortunately I had to ask for a refill of water. The design of the restaurant is nice — although the acoustics make for a loud experience. They will also validate your parking ticket. Oh and it’s not cheap! So yeah… thanks for ruining my memories Ming II.

Chilli Garlic Noodles and Sizzling Lamb ordered Spicy is all you need while sipping a nice smokey scotch from the bar next door. Tip: You can park your car for free at Hyatt Parking Garage and get your ticket stamped on your way out.

Amazing food. Quite expensive but totally worth it. Thier manchurian chicken lollipop, garlic chilli noodles, soup, paneer chilli, everything was need to add any additional sauce.

I work in the building the restaurant is located in so I’ve been here a few times for business lunch. The food is great I’ve never had any compliments but the service is mediocre. Hostess is very rude and doesn’t really pay attention to what you’re saying. The waitstaff doesn’t really check on the table to make sure we don’t need anything.

Came here on a recommendation however still deciding if I want to give it another try. The food was great. Got the crispy sea bass with hoisin sauce and the duck with bbq. However the service was terrible. Not once did the waiter come by and see if everything was okay. Hopefully next time will be better

Modern Asian fusion restaurant serving up delicious and unique dishes. Since my partner and I love Indian and Chinese food, this seemed like the perfect restaurant to try out together over the holidays. The aesthetics are part of the experience — modern décor in what looks like, for lack of a better analogy, the inside of a ship(rounded wooden walls). There is a swanky bar next door that lends to the clubby feel of Ming II, and while sometimes the music was distracting or overly loud, usually it had a neutral affect. We ordered the spicy eggplant paneer — eggplant stuffed with paneer, lightly fried, and covered in a sweet and spicy chili sauce — and the vegetable manchurian — vegetable balls in a spicy sauce reminiscent of thick hot and sour soup. The smell of these dishes as they were brought out was alone worth their price, and they were absolutely delicious. We ended the meal with the mango cheesecake, which was honestly pretty mediocre(and we love mango). Our service was friendly and attentive, even though it was the holidays and we were there late, so I’m sure they were eager to get us moving. We will certainly return if given the opportunity!

The food was good. We ordered the calamari, drums of heaven and a ground chicken appetizer. All very well done. The entrees ordered were lobster in garlic sauce, crispy sea bass, the pad Thai noodles and a spicy fried rice. The food was nice and spicy as indicated in the menu. Now for the not so good part — our table was in the center of the restaurant. The place was very dimly lit. There was loud music and we could barely have a conversation on the table. Quantities were just enough for four mid size adults.

Love this place the food is more of an Indian take on Chinese food but it’s delicious. We had the pad thai, chicken and mushrooms, lamb w/ginger and onion, masaman curry chicken and lychee duck with spring rolls for apps. The veggie and chicken spring rolls were both good, I like the veggie slightly more. portion is about two soring rolls cut into 6 pieces so the perfect appetizer as a light start to your meal and shareable among your table. Lychee duck was tender and not too greasy. Good flavor and not too chewy. Lamb is done very well here, tonight I had the ginger green onion and there is no gaminess to it and has texture of shredded beef. The curry was impressive the perfect balance of coconut, savory, and tasebud enlightenment. It was so tasty it made the chicken and mushroom seem so bland and boring. The pad thai presentation was very very appealing it looked like a stuffed crêpe and the noodles were flavorful not just a bit of flavor stuck to the outside but throughout the noodle. If you are a fan of chow fun and mai fun you’ll like the pat thai. Décor is modern and trendy, a little on the dim side and noise level is in the slightly higher side but great for a family dinner or date night. Drinks have innovative mixes such as lavender or pineapple cardomon. So if you’re looking for funky martini like drinks they should have something on the menu for you.

I love the décor inside the restaurant, it’s very stylish and modern. The food is great, a perfect mixture of Chinese, Thai, and Indian. The desserts were great as well, I had the mango cheesecake and Gulab Jamun. Amazing, I will be back.

VERY expensive mediocre food. The«spicy garlic chicken» wasn’t spicy at all. It was actually sweet. Not a lot of people in there, but still took ~20 minutes to get our food. Waiter asked«white or fried rice» and one guy made the mistake of saying«vegetable fried rice» because he’s vegetarian… and got hit with a $ 40 lunch tab. Their fried rice is all in the $ 20 range! Crazy!

Very similar to Ming in Edison, not surprisingly. This is Chinese food with Indian spices and I love the result! All of the chili dishes; the fish in oyster sauce, black bean dishes and the Thai shrimp are excellent. So is the service and the atmosphere is very nice – good space between tables; comfortable chairs. BUT – when lamb and seafood dishes are $ 18 – 23, it is annoying to spend $ 6 more for white rice(large enough for 3– people, but still…). Portions are generous. The flavors are vivid and spicy means spicy, so ask for mild if that is your preference. Very nice décor.

I tried their mango mojito and also their chili chicken four main course. Loved both of them. I like it spicy and although not that spicy for my palette it was still equally good. Would definitely recommend this place if you like Indo Chinese food or Thai food

Honestly, I expected better from this place. I stopped in here one night to grab a quick dinner to-go. I figured an order of vegetable fried rice would be fast and tasty. I was totally wrong. It took about 20 minutes to get my order. Considering how empty it was, I wasn’t sure what the holdup was. When I got outside with my dinner, I was really disappointed. taste-wise, it was fine. However, it was nothing special either. For 15 bucks, I was expecting something that would knock my socks off. You can get the same amount of rice for half the price with more flavor than what I got. It wasn’t awful, but… just mediocre. I’ll try somewhere else to get my Chinese fix when I’m in Mo’town.

This review is for the hostess working 6:30PM-8:30PM, Saturday, November 29. Upon walking in, every interaction my family had with her was negative. I came in to ask about a table being available since I walked in first. She ignored me as she took a phone call without saying anything. A quick, «I apologize I will be right with you,» would have been nice. Instead, she picked up the phone mid-conversation and proceeded to make a reservation for someone. We waited around for her to get off the phone and then my father asked if the owner was in as they know each other and he wanted to say hi. In a rude, condescending tone that made it seem like my father’s question was dumb and annoying her, she replied to him, «Yeah, he’s here.» When we left, she decided to scold my mother for not correctly using the spoons. She is rude, lacking basic manners and void of class. It surprises me that a nice place would hire this woman. She should not be customer-facing. Our experience once seated outside the kid’s party was good, as it has always been here for the past few years we have come here. Yummy food, nice service. We left full and happy minus the hostess interactions.

I found out about this restaurant during a Unilocal event at SM23 right next to it and vowed to come and visit with my family to get a taste of what they have to offer. Well I finally made my way one Saturday evening and I have to say I wasn’t disappointed with the experience. Now let’s get the logistics out of the way first. Yes, as some people have noted it’s located in a gigantic complex in Mo-town but finding parking is easy enough and the restaurant kindly validates your ticket. Furthermore there are signs everywhere, including next to the elevators, telling customers how to get to the restaurant. Now as you enter Ming II you’ll notice that it’s dimly lit and intimate. The warm glow of the light goes perfectly well with the wood motif they have going on. Ming is not that large of a space but it seems that even on busy nights it doesn’t seem to get stifling because of how they arranged the furniture and maximized the space. My family and I instantly felt comfortable with the place. There was just something about it that made it feel homey but sophisticated at the same time. This feeling continued with our server. A true gentleman he took care of our needs and paid attention to the young ones as well. He just knew how to carry a conversation and always checked up on how we were doing. We started the meal with some appetizers. Asian calamari and BBQ spare ribs were our choice for the night. I don’t know how they cooked that calamari but it was incredible. I’ve tasted many fried calamari in my time but this was on a whole new level. The right amount of onion, garlic, and scallion makes a real difference. To put it simply my little nephew, who’s not into calamari, said it was«yummy!» Now that’s a proper critic if I have to say so myself. The BBQ spare ribs were tender and just fell off the bones but as my other nephew said it tasted like any generic BBQ ribs. It wasn’t bad but it could have tickled the palate more. For entrees we ordered four different dishes, a noodle dish, and a rice dish. The entrees consisted of the crispy duck in BBQ sauce, chicken Penang curry, crispy lamb with hot bean sauce, and stir fried greens in garlic sauce. The Hakka noodles with chicken and the Ming II fried rice with shrimp rounded out the feast. The servings are large enough to serve family style and man I will tell you that my family was not disappointed. The crispy duck was properly crispy(yay!) and the BBQ sauce actually tasted better than it did with the spare ribs app. My favorite was the chicken Penang curry. I could have devoured that thing all by myself that’s how delicious it was. The lamb with hot bean sauce was my pop’s favorite. He raved about it but it didn’t really hit it for me. I guess I like my lamb with more of a Mediterranean flavor. The stir fried vegetables were a second favorite for me. Now as a devout carnivore ordering a vegetable dish doesn’t excite me but this particular dish opened a special place in my heart. The Hakka noodles reminded me of Filipino pancit(so you know instantly that it was going to be a big hit with the fam) and the fried rice was the perfect accompaniment to the delicious entrees. I was very pleased with what came out of the kitchen that particular night. I came to visit Ming II because I was curious of what they had to offer. I’m so glad that I followed my curiosity this time because it led to a great meal and a great time for the family. Now I just have to try the Indian restaurant next door to complete the trifecta of Ming, Mehndi, and SM23.

The location seems somewhat inconvenient as far as accessing(it shares space with the Hyatt). But since the restaurant offers validated parking in the Hyatt lot, it actually is convenient insofar as it saves you from circling around downtown looking for a spot. My first impression was the ambience. Very chic. Borderline clubbish, which makes sense since their club, SM23, is right next door. I was hoping for a Tsing Tao to start, but they didn’t have any, so I immediately thought, «strike one.» Instead, I opted for the big King Fisher to share. As the waiter was pouring our beer, I noticed a piece of food or something stuck to one of our glasses, prompting me to think, «strike two.» I pointed it out to him and he took the empty bottle and full glass of beer away. He returned with a full bottle, pouring half into the new empty glass(mine was already full). This is an important highlight, because he could have easily returned with just a glass full of beer, which would have meant that he poured what was in the dirty glass into a clean glass. But he didn’t. And in the end, the house didn’t charge us at all for the beer. Nice recovery, Ming II. Overall, I was happy with everything we ordered except the hoisin spare ribs appetizer. I don’t mind a little tug off the bone, but these babies were stuck on there pretty good. And while I enjoyed the addition of the scallions for both presentation and taste, they could have cooked the ribs a little longer and added a few sesame seeds to both soften and spruce things up. I really enjoyed the vegetable coriander soup, and the waiter was kind enough to offer to split it for us. Light, but spicy. Don’t let the clear color fool you. For entrees, I was happy with the spice and combination of flavors on the chili duck. I can’t speak for the oriental chicken, but the lady seemed happy with it. The portions weren’t the most generous, but our waiter did offer us white rice to pair with them if we wanted it. Instead, we opted for the Hakka noodles as well as the fried rice.(Why compromise?)

This is a fantastic place for lunch. $ 15 for an app, entrée, and side. Food: App: asian calamari is ok, dumplings/cauliflower manchurian are better, spicy coriander soup is awesome. Entrée: Veg manchurian is amazing… ordered everytime I’m here Side: chicken hakka noodles are good, does help to have the 3 different sauces on the table to spice it up a bit Service/Ambience: Service is quite good, polite, prompt, and will even ask your name if they’ve seen you a couple of times. Really cool interior with dim lighting and a beautiful ceiling Things to note: This place is very quiet for Saturday lunching Park at the Hyatt, the host/ess will validate parking Coat check is available Closed Sunday(always seem to forget this…) Reservations can be made via opentable

Let’s eat fabulously! Waiter was very friendly and had a great sense of humor. The busboy was also quite personable. Ambiance is gorgeous. Kinda dark but relaxing. It smells like Far East spices. Very cool. Mango lassi. I love lassi hahaha. If you love lassi have this. Thick, creamy, mango! Nuts and berry drink — not too sweet. Perfect. Especially if you plan on eating something spicy. Takes the heat off. Pineapple pepper martini. Delicious. Grilled pineapple flavor mixes well pepper on top. Unexpectedly interesting. Drumsticks of heaven Enough for two. Should consider with rice. Scallion soy sauce was excellent to compliment the large drumsticks in a sweet spicy sauce. Just the right amount of spice. Ahhhh lick your fingers. ;) Lamb with hot bean. Ultra crispy from coating with beans. Ahhhh. If you are a fan of upscale jerky. It is what I had hoped for. Ming II fried vegetable rice. Exactly what you should get when you order fried rice. Faint jasmine makes it alluring. Duck pancake. The absolute best. So crispy and a good quality meat. Falls apart in your mouth. Fantastic. Bohoisen sauce was delicious with plenty of pancakes. The dessert menu requires an interpreter as it lists some items that are popular in Indian cuisine but may not be well known to the typical American diner. Green tea cheese cake. Surprisingly good. Light green tea flavor(like green tea ice cream). Chocolate crumb crust almost overwhelms the subtlety of the green tea, but who cares! It’s chocolate!!! Service started slow but improved as the meal continued and then declined a touch at the end. Once a long time ago my family had a similar service experience at the sister restaurant, mehndi. All and all, fabulous. :)
