Ran in to grab a pastry while next door at the dry cleaners. Used the restroom first. It was so disgustingly dirty that I decided to forgo food consumption. I never even saw anyone working there. The only people present were a grandma and little girl eating. Creepy and Nasty?! That’s okay, I’ll pass.

I know where to go when chat craving hits! Loved the Dahi golgappe, aloo tikki and raj kachori we had there. We also ordered a pineapple cake and a Black Forest. Both were superb. Perfectly moist and delicious. Going by the reviews I had expected the place to be very tiny but I was happy with what I saw. Spacious and neat. Lucky, I went when there was not a big crowd and didn’t have to wait for long, as others said. Going back a million times, for sure!

Food is not bad, chats are ok, typical indian café offering(try the black forest pastry for a very indian take on German cream cake) . What kills it is the slooooow service. Today was worst, 4th in the line, took about 25 minutes to reach the counter. Very long for typical counter-service Indian cafes. The brown tangy sauce that comes with chicken puff is cloyingly sweet, very odd tasting.

Been here frequent. But don’t think I am fond of this place anymore. Bad service, horrible attitude of the lady at the counter. Closes at 9.30, but this lady tells me it’s not possible to keep an open tab at 8.30. Really? I think this place needs a pleasant face at the counter, even if the present one is the owners daughter!

There was one girl at the counter, taking orders for about 7 – 8 tables. Fellow diners had no sense /respect and were in their zone laughing/yelling. Their kids were running around all the tables including our’s. Took 25 minutes to deliver our panini. Chairs were in no order and left in the middle of the room and bathroom doors were open all the time we were here.

I have been here at least 6 times and have tried almost everything on the menu by now. In San Jose I used to love Chaat Paradise and was hoping to find a close substitute in the Triangle. I tried Raj Bhog but was not a fan. Hot Breads is what has provided my chaat and other indian snacks fix. Here is a break down of the menu items: * The Chaats(Bhel, Dahi, Raj Kachori etc). All are great, no complains. * Dabeli. One of my favorite items on the menu. It is spicy, garlicy and delicious. * Vada pav. I tried this hoping it was as good as the Dabeli but sadly it is just ok. * Pav Bhai. IMHO the best in the triangle. * Bread omelete and Bhurji(both with green chilis). Reminds me of eating eggs in Indian lahris. Authentic and very good. These are my other favorite items on the menu. * Stuffed Parathas. Not bad. * The Sandwiches. These are pretty good. My sister liked the Chicken Panini and my Wife likes the Vegetable Panini. The pastries are fluffy and delicious. Pineapple pastries are in my opinion the best of the lot. Overall, I really like this place for tasty indian street food.

Stale food. there have been many incidences where the food was stale and everyone’s stomach went bad afterwards. At one incident she gave me stale pastry n on complaining, she accepted it and gave us the fresh one. Not to say, there service is not good either, especially when you are ordering a cake over phone. They will take your order and when you reach there to pick up your order, it won’t be there. I have stopped eating at that place because of stale food, but loved their cakes. But my last experience with cake ordering was horrible. I think I am going to avoid this place all together.

One of the worst indian bakery, I have ever come across Things here are in poor quality and very pricey –8 inches birthday cake is $ 26 here, when seen in other places its only $ 14-$ 16 I still dont understand what special ingredients they put to make it costlier –other food items, like samoosa, chats are atleast 50cents to

mostly great food, until recently. Last time I got the Bread Pakoda and Indian Omelet they were crap, tasteless and burnt. I had the yearning for an Indian Omelete was was so let down. Just a super thick omelet, no chilies, nothing. garbage. Kids still enjoy their bland pav bhaji. Stuffed parathas could use more stuffing.

Great place to grab some quick Indian food. I love their Indian bread omelette with green chilies and spices. We come here regularly for Chai(Indian Tea). The service is great and staff is friendly. To top that they play local radio stations so it’s an interesting and pleasant mix

This is the best place around to get Indian sandwiches, which I got a taste for in India and have missed. My favorite is the Chicken Tikka Panini, although the chaat and pav are also excellent. My husband and I go to Hot Breads about once a week and have for 3 years now. I’ve never been disappointed with the food.

Landed here looking for an indian-inspired pineapple vanilla cake for hubby’s birthday. The cake was good and was a hit! Noticed freshly baked puffs and got a potato puff, which was also good. So decided to try other items on the menu as well. So here we are, on a Saturday morning, having a hearty breakfast of aloo paratha, paneer paratha(with yogurt and mixed pickle) and khasta kachori and potato and chicken puffs! The owners are polite and sweet, offer a variety of good stuff. The thing I like most is that it’s very homely food and some dishes aren’t available at other indian bakeries/cafes/restaurants like dabeli, khasta kachori etc. Coming back for more for sure! ;)

Good dine in place but takeout hit and a miss. We have generally been happy with hot breads. But we ordered raj kachori and I requested additional chatnis on the side. Instead that is all I got — no added chatnis but extremely small amount 0.4 oz may be of each of the chatnis. We also had ordered dahi poori chat — that included yoghurt and sweet chatni but not the hot one. Normally when we go in and order items things are well made. I read another person who said the same thing — take out is a lottery system at this otherwise good chaat place.

A year ago I had good chaat AND good cake. This time around the chaat was still great but the cake was dry and tasted stale. The service was awful. Seemed like someone new or hassled or both. We had to wait a while for our order even though it wasn’t terribly crowded. Part of our order was forgotten and we still had less issues than other customers! Disappointing. I hope the service recovers. I like the place. Their chaat is still worth the trouble.

Food taste is good but when having to-go order, it’s a lottery system on complete order. Something is missed from time to time so before hitting your ignition, do a check.

Good cakes, tasty indian street food. Their service might suck at times. I like their homemade yogurt which comes with their dhai(yogurt) puri. It is thick and creamy. They also make good sandwiches and paratas. I have had bad take out experiences couple of times in the past. They are slightly priced on the higher side when compared to their peers. Good food, slightly higher priced and OK service.

Went here after 3 years and I am pleasantly surprised. Their paninis and rolls are fantastic. So is their veg puff and cakes. I haven’t tasted the items I previously reviewed about, so I am not sure about them yet.

I am extremely impressed by the quality, authenticity, and flavors of the chaat at hot breads. Between 3 of us we ordered 5 different things, and I was impressed by all of them. What really stood out to me was the dahi puri and pani puri. I loved that they used white peas as opposed to channa, because they provided a warmer flavor to balance out the yogurt/water. Speaking of yogurt, they had the perfect amount of yogurt on all the yogurt dishes we ordered. I am used to chaat places skimping on yogurt big time, and charging if you ask for extra, but this was not the case at hot breads. Their pani puri really hit the spot – if you ever just crave pani puri, this one does the trick in satisfying the craving! Papdi chaat was really good as well. I wasn’t as impressed by the dabeli, or parathas. The dabeli had a great amount of garlic, and it’s one of the only dabeli I have had in the US that uses peanuts like they do in Ahmedabad. However, it was a little too filling and not as tasty as those original ones in Ahmedabad. I would not recommend getting any of the parathas. They are barely stuffed – especially the paneer parathas. You might as well just be eating a regular paratha. Their sandwiches are also good. I like that they use foccacia bread. I had the paneer tikka panini and it was extremely hearty and well flavored. I do have to knock off a star, however because I spotted a few mosquitoes and even a moth in the facility. The moth was flying around the plastic spoons/forks…but I guess if you are going for the truly authentic Indian experience, that would be a part of it! Also, they do randomly charge for things, so your meal does end up being expensive sometimes. Finally, they don’t have a proper water dispenser – just cups next to a water fountain which is kind of shady to me.

As you can see from my previous review, my family and I enjoyed the food here and used to eat here quite often(almost once a week). Don’t know what’s happened but the quality in food and customer service has gone WAYWAY down. On May 10th, 2013 my Mom and I drove all the way from Apex to pick up a blackforest cake because she really wanted one for her birthday the following day. The hours on the door says the store closes at 9:30pm. When we went in it was 9:20pm, exactly 10 minutes before they close. We went to the counter and asked for a blackforest cake and the lady that was working that night straight up said, «I can’t give that to you right now because I’ve closed the register for the night.» This woman had closed the register TEN minutes before the store was even supposed to close. We were slightly annoyed but told her it’s okay if she can’t accept a credit card and we would give her cash/check instead. She still refused and said, «no, I’ve closed the register for the night.» At this point we were furious because a) we drove all the way from Apex, b) she closed the register before the café was supposed to close and c) she refused to give us what we wanted! I honestly couldn’t believe it. I asked for the manager/owner’s phone number and when we called, it wasn’t even the manager/owner, she gave us the wrong number. This is not the kind of customer service that I expect. This is absolutely ridiculous. It’s a shame because we go there all the time and so do our friends and after what happened to us, we definitely won’t return. Go to 5 Hot Chillies instead: The food is better than Hot Breads & customer service is way better!
