best of the best!!! Mikes is an awesome place with awesome people! Whether you need a simple fade, a mullet, fancy new do for your new gf or a straight razor shave this is the place to go! The whole staff is super awesome and incredibly friendly! With two locations you can get in very easily! They make you feel at home and part of the family when you go! They also sell different types of pomade which is nice! Suavacito, Layrite and others at a reasonable price without having to order online or go into SLO! They take pride in their work and always make sure you’re happy with the final results! My boyfriend and dad love coming here and we would suggest them to anyone! I’ve only been to the main location but I’m sure the north Morro bag location is just as awesome!

I’ve been coming here for a little over 2 years now. This is hands down the best cut I’ve ever gotten every single time! I got my hair cut by Jon, the owner, today. He cut my hair really well! Definitely no complaints here. I either go to Jerry or Jon. Jerry does a killer fade. I would go here over a salon any day! I have to admit I was a little nervous going to a barber shop at first, but nobody has ever made me feel uncomfortable. Everyone is so nice and chill. You can even grab a beer on ice while waiting. I’ve also taken my nephew there several times. He loves getting his hair cut there!

My son has a pretty challenging hair texture and it’s difficult for me to find someone that can cut it well. After a friend recommended Mike’s, I thought we’d give it a shot.
Jerry gave my son an amazing and perfect clipper cut today. I won’t be going anywhere else! We found our barber!

I have been getting my haircut at mikes barber shop for a long while now and I got to say it is by far the best experience I have ever had in a barber shop! I have gotten my hair cut by all but one or two of the barbers and they all have mad skills and don’t take any short cuts when cutting hair, they also accommodate most any hairstyle. The atmosphere in Jon’s shops is unlike any, it’s friendly and relaxing, everybody talks with one another about their days and current events. Jon and his team really try to make your experience a good one, he even offers cool beverages on hot days and suckers for kids. I could keep going on and on but I won’t… Just know I would travel out of state as irrational as that sounds just to get my hair cut by these dudes. not to mention his pricing is hard to beat and if you go to get a haircut and he has a line, he has another location just a few miles on the other side of town where you can get the same experience!

I have been getting my hair cut at Mike’s Barber Shop for the past 3 years and have ALWAYS had a great experience. Not only have the cuts been perfect, but the conversations with the barbers (John and Jerry) never fail to entertain. If you’re looking to get a fantastic cut at a very reasonable price, Mike’s is the place to go.

I live in Oakland where there are many old school barber shops that went into business recently. But I think Jon has his place dialed in a little bit better than most other shops of the same ilk. And the prices are definitely better. So when I was in Morro Bay I was pleased to find such a treasure. Haircut was flawless and I even got a straight razor shave which I always love. Great prices too. Highly recommended.

My son will only get his hair cut here at Mike’s. He especially likes the cut he gets from «Tahiti John» who knows how to cut curly hair well. However, all their barbers seem excellent. Being a mom it’s not my favorite place to wait, but guys don’t seem to mind and find it worth the wait.

Very poor customer service. Went in because I was in town on vacation and needed a trim. Since I’m in this area two-​three times a year it wouldn’t be a bad thing to have a decent place to get my hair cut on my mini-​vacations. Thought I’d try this place since it had great reviews and was down the street from where I was staying. Walked in there were two barbers, one chubby guy and another skinnier one that seemed very young. Both didn’t acknowledge me after I said, «hi.» In fact the chubby guy turned away without making eye contact and the skinnier guy just looked down. I waited about ten seconds and just walked out.

It’s a very small shop with two barber chairs and three waiting chairs. But the ambience rocks! Cool music and cool old photos an stuff along the walls and shelves. Ray was obviously trained old school and does a great job. People waiting were all talking together, definitely a cool get your haircut hangout kinda place.
I suggest a mocha coffee from Top Dog around the corner then a seat at Ray’s

Never again will they see me here. Two barber chairs, two customers. Two people waiting when I walked in. One barber says
” oh, by the way, I’ll be going to lunch after this customer.” Kinda made a joke out of it. I guess they have plenty if money that they don’t need customers. His «having» to oh to lunch with paying customers waiting cost him a customer and a decent tip.

This guy named Raymond is the best barber! I got a great haircut, and listened to reggae and all kinds of different music.
I love that small comfy feeling of the waiting room.
Raymond I hope has a great career in front of him; he is big city talent in the coolest Morro Bay environment.

I rarely write reviews but felt compelled after going to Mike’s Barbershop for the 1^st time.
A great haircut and straight razor shave is one of life’s simple pleasures. And this shop does it first rate. One of the best haircuts I have had in awhile. And the shave was simple but it was effective. And all of this at a great price. In fact I have paid twice as much as I did at Mike’s and have not had as great of an experience as I did at Mikes.
Highly recommend a haircut and shave at Mikes.

Best haircut ever! I’ve lived here 6 years and until recently I was driving all the way to SLO for a haircut and who knows why, this is the best! Jon (owner) runs a great establishment and very inexpensive. Even was offered straight razor trim around ears and neck (never had that before and it was great!)
I will no longer go anywhere else, can grab a coffee across the street while you wait and plenty of magazines to keep you occupied. Trust me you will wait because it is a small establishment and he runs two barbers during the week and he works solo on Sundays and it is worth the wait to come to Jon. Thanks man I am a convert I won’t go anywhere else!

Best barbershop in town. John and his crew are the absolute quill. Great cut and they’ll do a straight razor on the neck along with it – all for an unbeatable price you won’t get anywhere else on the central coast. A phenomenal finishing touch.
For the best hair cut you’ve ever had and the old school, classic barber shop feel, you won’t do any better. Grab a coffee across the street or a beer next door while you wait, and be sure to deck yourself out with some sweet Mike’s Schwag before you leave too.

Arrived in Morro Bay after a cross country ride and I needed a shave and a haircut, found Mikes Barber Shop. John the owner gave me the best haircut and shave that I have ever had (i’m from Vancouver Canada and I have never had that kind of service) After John closed shop he met us up at the bar for a beer (maybe a few)

Mike’s barbershop has an amazing Central Coast vibe with it’s many photographs of the vibrant Morro Bay surrounding area.
However I would never endorse a barbershop entirely on it’s physical environment, rather it is all about the barbers which fill the shop. This is where Mike’s barbershop really captures my heart. The barbers in this establishment are some of the most friendly personal folks around coming as far as possible from the factory like barbershops which are becoming more and more prevalent.
The barbers personality aside and considering the quality of the haircut this place certainly captures true aesthetic beauty. There is no other place on the Central Coast that knows how to execute a proper fade style haircut. Just make sure to request Raymond Ramirez and he will make you think you have not had a fade ever before till he came along. He also does a great straight edge shave. If you are seeking a more traditional haircut all the barbers are also excellent.

Walked in and 4 people were waiting. I grabbed a magazine after looking at all the old morro bay pictures and bamboo antique fishing poles. While I was waiting I got to watch a real straight razor shave!
Before I knew it I was in the chair. Awesome music was playing, mostly older but a nice mix. But most importantly I probably got one of the best haircuts of my life. Everything was perfect, they even shaved my neck at the end at no extra charge. Lastly I want to talk about their toy collection. It has vintage toys, and they had real Star Wars toys. Seems like an all around top notch barber shop!!! I will be back!
