Surfside Pizza

I have tried all the local places coming here for vacation many years. I always ignored this one do to other Unilocal reviews not winning me over. I made a big mistake!!! This place by far is the best pizza here! I could taste the love put into the sauce and dough. My daughter made friends with the owners kids and was having a blast. I like that they don’t do fountain drinks that are flat and all syrup no fizz! They come in the cans! They had individual bottled apple juice for kids! How nice is that when you don’t want your kids having sodas.
Great family pizza business! It’s rare to find these family gems of good food in a over commercialized business, that is of pizza! I had to write this so others don’t make the mistake I did ignoring them and giving a chance to earn your taste buds business. Don’t let some snot nosed kid at dominoes or at the other pizza joints who don’t care make your pizza, you may just get that in your pizza at those other places.

Really good pizza, and not the same old stuff that you can get at a chain restaurant. Nice thin pizza & creative (but not foo-​foo).
We got the «Atomic» and added anchovies — SO good!

Must say this is probably the most decent pizza places in Morro Bay. Came across this place while on a walk one day, they seem to be closed all the time but finally gave it a try. The dough is perfect and ingredients tasted fresh.

I don’t usually post on Unilocal,but this pizza was amazing. My husband had the Special of the day and I had the Margarita. The crust was so light and the toppings were perfect. The basil was so fresh it was pleasant to my pallet. I am not a fan of pizza and I can’t wait to go back up north to visit my mom and get another pizza.

Great pizza!.. Family friendly. They brought over a toy truck for my toddler who was fussing and let them both color. Great view of the ocean and cozy place. We will be back.

I tried this pizza place on a whim while visiting Morro bay for a night and WOW. Let me put it this way– I wish I lived closer so I could eat here more often!
The restaurant is small and homey feeling with carpet and adorable orange curtains. It has a casual, fun atmosphere. Good selection, good service, good prices, and amazing pizza.
My favorite part about this place is it has that small, local, family feel that is becoming harder to find these days. You can tell this place is lovingly run by a local family and that really shows in the environment, service and food. I so appreciate that and will always choose to support a local business over a corporate chain.

Stopped off in Morro Bay for evening while on a highway one venture. Checked into our hotel, starving after hours of nothing past Monterey. Both feeling like pizza, we went solely off the Unilocal ratings of pizza places.
Surfside came up. The place is a little awkwardly set up, but the dining area is small and doesn’t offer for much variation. Service was amazing. More of a «go up and ask» place than someone harassing you every two minutes asking if you need something-​which I love.
Ordered the bbq chicken pizza. This was to die for. If you like thin, crispy crust, this place is for you. Fresh, flavorful ingredients. A large was perfect size for my wife and I to eat, with me eating one more piece than her. Beer was very well priced as well. Bottle only, but a good selection.
Definite mom and pop place that deserves your business based on the atmosphere, service and most importlantly, the food. Would come back every time I’m down this way.

My husband and I were looking for a good Pizza place while on vacation here in Morro Bay and we found it. The restaurant is clean, the service is good and the Pizza was delicious. We had ordered half combo and half pepperoni and it was delicious. You have a nice view of Morro rock and the ocean when you sit by the window. We will definitely come back here the next time we are here in Morro Bay and wanting a good pizza.

Inquired about a pepperoni pizza and the owner Shawn hung up on me. I’m sure with service like that from the Owner, this place will be promoted to Customer in no time. Pretty appalling. If I wanted to be insulted, I could find a lot classier places then this.

WOW. I am really in shock. This is where the tale takes an interesting turn. I get a call at work today (1 day after writing the review) from Surfside’s owner Shawn. He stated to me that he didn’t hang up on me and the reason we got disconnected was because he was, «trying to figure out how to put me on hold.» He then stated that it is only him and his wife who work there. So to recap… he is the only one who operates the phone other then his wife, yet he doesn’t know how to use the hold function of the phone in his own shop. Then when I asked how he got my number, he told me he pulled it from the caller I.D. from the day before, yet only calls to complain about this review and try to get me to change it. I really thought he was having a genuine bad day, but now that he suddenly finds my number to call me back on his mess up after this review to complain at me like it is my fault he is a shitty host. If he had called to apologize and invite me in, that would have been one thing, but he didn’t do that. He tried to dissuade me from this post by saying he didn’t call the cops yet. If he wants to make it right with me, he can take me to lunch someplace. To Shawn, I wish you well.

Quick and delicious, and really nice people. The Brekkie is a fantastic change for a pie, and leftovers (if there are any) really do make a good breakfast the next morning. Really good unique pizzas in a small, out of the way place. Glad they’re here.

Love this local pie spot! The sauce is amazing and the crust is awesome! I have had almost everything on the menu. Love the bbq chicken and margarita with red sauce. I normally call it in for pick up, but inside it has TV’s with sports on normally. Small dinning area but a friendly environment! Would recommend

The pizza was good, not great though. The service was excellent and the atmosphere of the restaurant was cool.

Super delicious! We come up to Morro bay twice a year (for the last 15 years) and have yet to go out for pizza here. We’ve been missing out…
We ordered the small size pizza with linguisa, mushrooms and pineapple. So freaking tasty! Perfect size for my husband and I with leftovers. It was perfectly cooked and they didn’t skimp on the toppings at all. Super cute place but we ordered it to-​go. Will definitely come back on our next trip up! Yum yum!!!

The gal who served us (assuming owner?) Was quite nice and quick with drinks and what not. The pizza was quite delicious, it did kind of take forever so this isn’t really a place you should come to get a quick pizza. But if you’re patient this pizza is worth the wait. I’d definitely come back when I’m back in town.

Don’t hestitate… this is a culinary experience at Pizza prices. I thought Pizza was Pizza until I tried this gem. ½ Atomic and ½ BBQ Chicken with wedge salad (real bacon and homemade dressing)
Feel like I am on the Mediterranean in my own backyard!

I wish I could give 4.5! The pizza gets a 5! We are almost an entire 16 inch pie just between my husband and I (and we’re NOT huge people). We are visiting my parents who told us there is NO good pizza in nitro bay, I’m assuming now they meant delivery. Clearly they haven’t eaten here. We ordered a half margherita and half combo. Both AMAZING, the crust is exceptional. We each had a slice of each other’s and were equally impressed. I especially loved the generous balsamic drizzle over the margherita. The ONLY reason I couldn’t give the 5 stars I really wanted to was the dressing/​salad. We ordered a small wedge salad, which was chopped? The blue cheese on the salad lacked flavor, which is hard for blue cheese. And the side of ranch my husband got for dipping was 100% bottled hidden valley ranch. I can live with no salad when the pizza is that good though.
UPDATE: Thank you for the reply Shawn. We will absolutely be back the pizza is amazing. Have you ever considered using the dry packets of ranch mix to make your own with mayo and milk? Still wouldn’t be much effort and would be easily bought in bulk. Just a idea.

So happy that Shawn founded another Morro Bay restaurant. And, thankful that the Beachside Bistro closed and made this cute building ready for him and his family to move in!
I finally gave up on Dominos, they kept burning their pizzas. I was finally able to find time to try out this new pizza option in Morro Bay. I wish they delivered, but calling ahead for pickup is a great option.
Their crust is amazing, love the chewy texture and definitley not overcooked. Their sauce has a great taste, sort of spicy sweet. Their cheese is not grainy like other pizza places I have tried, and their Italian sausage topping is tasty, not too spicy.
I ordered half extra cheese, half Italian sausage, light on the sauce. I wish they had more topping options (like a non-​BBQ chicken), but the toppings they have are varied and unique. I want to try the breakfast pizza that has potatoes, bacon, and eggs! A cream sauce would be welcome, also, for those of us that have issues with tomato-​based sauces. I just created a new flavor pizza, cream sauce, grilled chicken, extra cheese — add some pine nuts and that would be perfect!
I look forward to getting future take-​out from this restaurant.

This place was so amazing. Everything was delicious and clean. The guy making the pizza knows chef Ramsey! Beautiful! And not too expensive. (for Cali)

I’d you’re not from Cali and want a good slice of. Do it! It’s definitely not as uppity as some of the other places I’ve been to. But it’s great. Fancy and low-​key an d super close to the shore.

Good pizza! Great service and the salad was wonderful. It’s a small place but they have a few TVs for sporting events… we watched the All Star Game and had a great meal… we shared a pizza that was half veggie and half Hawaian, great combo!

We were so sad to hear Shawn’s On Main closed so when we found out Shawn and his wife opened a little pizza joint we were super excited. They’ve been open for a month and it looks like they’ll be here for a long time. It’s a small place with really cool surf décor and great ocean views. Shawn and his wife are really friendly and we love seeing their kids running around, it’s definitely a family friendly atmosphere.
The menu is on the smaller side but there’s a good selection. My wife and I tried the Ham and gorgonzola sandwich and the El Porto pizza (linguica, potatoes and kale) and we added egg on it. It was AMAZING! The pizza sauce is really delicious and it has a good crunchy crust. I would definitely recommend this place if you’re anywhere near Morro Bay. We will be coming back every visit to the coast!
