Pappys is a hidden gem. Located in what I would call the middle of no where in a town that has a single blinking traffic light. I have driven past this place a few times. One day I ran into a local and they brought up puppy’s and told me I should try it. I went with a local. 98% of the people that go here are locals and the staff knows people by there first names. To be honest I was not expecting a lot. They have a good sized menu with pretty much bar style food. All the locals said get the pizza but I don’t get pizza if I’m not in NY. I really enjoyed my food it was super cheap and cooked good. I had soup and then pirogues. The pirogues were really good. I also had a chicken cheese steak which was very good chicken was cooked great. There were no tough pieces. I would defiantly recommend pappys to anyone. It is really cheap and good food and the people are friendly. I would go there with a local if you know one tho. I also wouldn’t go there dressed up. PROS: –cheap –good food CONS: –not a lot of places to park -

Dont let the ouside fool you. This place is epic… and has the best wings you may ever have. Their pizza is also excellent Old Forge style. A strong local presence will tell you all about the area and hunting stories will abound.

I pass through this part of the Poconos fairly often and have wanted to stop by Pappy’s for the wings and the pizza. The few existing reviews seemed to have short, succinct explanations of what they enjoy about it so I took a chance one night to stop by with a few friends. Missed the mark by a long shot. I wanted to give Pappy’s 2 stars initially but really thinking about the experience I can’t justify anything more than one. Simply upon walking in, staff looked at us like we were aliens and then went right back to their conversations with regulars. I don’t know the set-up but I did work in the restaurant business and you always greet a guest in some fashion, no matter how minimal. And we didn’t come in that late, there were other customers, albeit very few, and there was over an hour left to closing time. I got the attention of a waitress and asked if we can seat ourselves. We sit down, and order the food thinking that’s where things will change. I don’t eat food like what Pappy’s offers too often since it’s pretty much slow-acting suicide, but we went for the bar food goodies on this one. Everything was horrendous. And I say horrendous because I don’t think the English language offers anything below that. If it did, I would use that word. Jalapeño poppers which were violently dropped on our table by a chunky waitress who didn’t even look at the table before she went back to the kitchen, were awful. You can’t mess up cheese, jalapeño in a deepfryer. You can’t. I’ve never seen it. Pappy’s broke the mold on this one. They tasted like they were frozen for weeks and then only half thawed under the summer sun before they came out to offend our taste buds. The wings, which were supposed to be the reason to come here(on what planet?), were hideously bad. Over-fried and just half smothered in sauce to make up for the horrible texture. The red pizza, I’ve had better in hospital cafeterias. I’m not trying to be clever or funny. It was abysmal pizza. No. It was not pizza. It was dough, cheese, some sort of tomato derivative liquid and a vatful of sorrow. Pappy’s might be fun if you’re a regular, maybe then you’ll get a hint of good treatment. But that won’t save the part of the experience that they insist on calling food.

Great red pizza and wings. White pizza is too much dough. Great neighborhood place to meet friends.

Best wings, sweet and tangy garlic! Awesome. And it’s a steelers bar so that just makes it even better!
