A nice little combo astronomy/ham radio store. As far as I know, this is the only ham radio retail store in the Cities. Friendly staff and there’s a clearance/used/consignment section in the back of the store.

First off, I have never written 2 reviews in my life one good and not this is a bad one, and it takes a lot for someone to actually upset me. This situation had me take the time to write about the experience we had at this store. *The worst experience I have ever had from a small business was at Radio City of out County Rd — I My father has a Pro96 scanner and was looking for an external speaker to save on the wear and tear or his internal speaker within the device. I found Radio City via a Google search, so this was the first time I have heard of the place. I called up for my father to determine was the right place. I spoke to a woman who was very nice and told us there were many models to choose from. We made the long commute form the South Metro up to the store. When we walked in the store an older gentleman named Dan(assuming he is the owner) asked if he could help us. We told him that we called about external speakers. He said, «I didn’t get a call today about that.» A woman emerged from a back office; she was very nice and said, «Yes, I spoke you.» The man cut the women off and said, «I will take care of this ok.» It was obvious the woman was upset by his comment to her. My father asked if he had a speaker to that could help with sound clarity. The man acted as if this was an odd or off the wall question as he looked perplexed. He took out a speaker and we plugged that jack into the scanner to test. The sound was distorted, no problem right? Wrong! My father said, «It doesn’t sound too clear.» The man replied, «What do you want me to tell you, this is as good as it will get ok.» He then took the speaker and smashed it back into the box, it was unbelievable. My father asked if there is anything that could make it sound better, the man put his hands in the air and didn’t say a word as to say, I don’t know. He then went into the back room where the lady was sitting and started to yell at her about something. He came back about 2 minutes later and said, «Look if you didn’t like what I showed you, I can’t help you.» People, it takes a lot for me get worked up as I always give people the benefit of the doubt, I thought I was being setup by a television show it was so surreal. I want to underscore one point here; I’m not a big radio person, so I didn’t know what to ask for when we came in. He was the expert and could care less that we were customers nor was he interested in helping us. I can’t believe that a small business owner would think of treating people like this. I thought I was going to get to speak to an expert that could help us out. Instead we spoke to an owner who has the worst this customer service I have ever experienced. *I will not be surprised if this place is out of business within a few years. *This is my second review ever, but I had to take the 20 minutes to let everyone who wants good customer service to AVOIDTHISPLACE like the plague. *You can’t flag this post as this was a REAL experience and that is what people are looking for when reading reviews.

The only place in the Twin Cities metro area where you can buy amateur radio gear and great quality telescopes. Dan and Malene make it a pleasant experience and everyone that works there has a lot of knowledge about the products they sell. If you need a telescope or a shortwave radio, or a handheld transceiver, stop here. They’ll take good care of you!

Amazing place if you are looking for telescopes or something to hook up your radio communications with Lithuania. We walked in looking to buy a telescope as a birthday present and walked out with more knowledge about the scopes, the sky and the stars than we could have hoped for. Dan is great at what he does and it is stores like this that make me wish people got out from behind the computer when buying something like a telescope.
