friendly great food and named for the number of bones found in a full rack of ribs i found it to be clean and service was great! although they dont say i am convinced the mashed potatoes have a wee bit of garlic as three hours later we both had reflux that suggested that taste.

A set of words for 13 Bones. While I was in North Carolina recently I settled in Mount Airy(Mayberry) do to the barrage of ice and snow. I ventured out of the hotel only to find just about everything in the town closed. Up the driveway I came upon 13 Bones just to check and see. Lights were on, I parked the car and boom a sign in the window stating their apologies but they were closing at 7pm, it was 7:02. I young woman came up to me and said Hey! Get in here, we are shutting down but we will take care of you! To repay their kindness I just ordered a beer, a chicken cheese steak, and baked potato. All was outstanding!!! In this day in age when customer service is about nil, and just when you start to doubt the new generation it is this that makes it all good. Great Job 13 Bones! You will be my new staple in Mount Airy and I will refer to all of my contacts.

The place was mobbed like they were giving away something good. I had a 13 oz rib eye med-rare with mashed but it came out over cooked. My wife had the special beef tips with salad, rice and mixed veggie. She made the mistake of ordering them medium. Yuck! They came out way over cooked and looked like deer turds on the plate. Small tough of nails and tasteless. Other than almost chipping a tooth on them there wasn’t much memorable about this place. If you are use to good steak don’t think you will get it here. Now their rack of ribs looked good but neither of us got them so I can’t comment.

Love 13 Bones! The service is always great. Food is also always very good! I have tried many different entrees… never disappointed! I recommend ribs, blackened chicken and chip with French onion dip. If they have soup on special it’s definitely a must have!

The ribs were very disappointing. They weren’t even prepped correctly, the membrane was still attached. The restaurant itself was nice. Good family atmosphere, clean, friendly wait staff, no wait time(even with it mostly full). I suggest it, just avoid the ribs or hope we had the rack that missed prep.

Not impressed with this place. The portions were small and the fare, well, fell flat. We thought the prices were fairly high and nothing tasted homemade, canned and boxed? We’ll try it again in a few months.

The food here is good not great. I’ve eaten there multiple times and I have never been blown away by the food. Service is good and wait staff is very nice. This is a run of the mill steakhouse. They have decent food but its nothing special. Its no different from a place like Lone star or Sagebrush.

This is the prime rib, entire plate of fat… The owner said all prime rid are like that, when we told her that we order prime rib at every steakhouse we go to and it has never looked like that she said well theirs always does… My advice, unless you enjoy eating a plate of fat, don’t order the prime rib since owner admits all you gonna get is a plate of fat! Service was great but the owner was very rude!

I am so appalled by the manager of this restaurant. We were recommended to eat here and ordered the special prime rib. The prime rib was so horrible and we said something to the manager. She came to the table and made excuse after excuses. As a previous waitress I know that you do not do that. You come to the table you apologize and you fix the situation. I am embarrassed for her as an owner of this restaurant she should be ashamed of how she treats her customers. Our server gene however was absolutely outstanding and treated us very well.

Good golly this place is aaaaaamazing!(Except their infamous parking– terrible.) If you have to wait, it will be worth every second! From chips that were NOT greasy & homemade ranch to fall off the bone rack of ribs, our visit will not be the last. Service is great, they keep it moving & your glass full! Want good good for reasonable prices, come here!

Verdict on Blackened Salmon Salmon, probably some of the best salmon I ever tasted. Waitress complimented the house Italian dressing, thought it was great. Do not offer anything besides appetizers to hold you over before meal like chips, but it was worth the wait this time.

My friend and I had dinner here the other night, it being my first time. She told me Sagebrush was better(and I’d have to agree), but since I had never been, we chose to eat here instead. Our server was very friendly. There was another server with blonde hair who seemed to have an attitude problem, not sure why. Everytime she walked by, she’d give us her«bitch face». We went around 4pm so it wasn’t crowded, but as we were leaving is when the people started to pour in. I had the 8 oz sirloin, medium well, with a baked potato, side Caesar salad, and a roll. She had the same except with mac n cheese and mashed potatoes. My steak was okay. Not the best sirloin I’ve ever had but certainly not the worst. The salad was a little rubbery tasting which is odd. I don’t think I’ve ever had salad that had a texture quite like this one did. Baked potato was typical. You could tell the mac n cheese is not homemade. It looks like kraft mac n cheese deluxe. It was a nice dinner and I might be back with my husband next time. Probably will get something other than a steak, honestly. They have an early bird special which is $ 8 and it’s plenty of food for that price. Very good deal.

Very nice staff, very very good ribs. I had the Kansas barbecue ribs and my wife had the dry rub ribs, both were mouth watering, lip smacking, finger licking awesome. My daughter had the salt and pepper catfish which I didn’t taste myself but my daughter said was great. This was my first visit(I was passing through from SC. headed to Va.) but it won’t be my last. If you like barbecue, you will be doing yourself an injustice if you don’t try this place. Simply Amazing!!!

My hotel suggested that I come here. Happy I did as the food is most excellent. The sweet tea is out o the world! The ½ rack of ribs and grilled shrimp are amazing. The mash potatoes and broccoli rock. Highly recommend this spot.

Now this place does BBQ correctly! It may not be a true pit BBQ, but they balance the use of real smoke and liquid nicely. The options are a complete«Barbecue Trail» with of course suggestions of the Carolinas, Memphis, Kansas City style and of course Texas. There were some selections which even could be considered the newest BBQ style on the trail, Georgia! I recommend the base sampler, ribs, chicken and brisket. Sure there will be leftovers as I can tell From experience that it is impossible to take it all in at one time.(Which suits me as this is a great stop between Myrtle Beach and Ohio.) And the appetizers are well reflected in BBQ lore as well. The fried pickles are the bomb!

Excellent little place with a lot of subtle, unique flavors to differentiate it from other American food places. This place was actually so good, I might consider driving the rest of the way up to Mt Airy after a trip to Pilot Mountain to hike just to grab a bite to eat! Our waiter was fantastic and attentive. All the food was great, though I can’t say there was anything that just stood out. It’s something you’d expect at most chains, like Chili’s, yet the food quality here is much better than you’d see in those. I tried the fried pickles, since people had mentioned them(and I love fried pickles) and… yeah. They’re great! Not much to say other than it’s a good, simple, American restaurant with decent food and a slightly unique flavor to it. That’s pretty much it. If you like that kind of thing, you’ll probably love this place. In the meantime, I’ll have to try the Greensboro location and see if it was as good.

Fried pickles are a wonderful surprise. I couldn’t stop eating them. This restaurant was packed on the Saturday night we visited it. We were given a wait time of 30 minutes but were seated in 15. I had a half rack of the baby back ribs with their original rib sauce, which is a thin vinegar based BBQ sauce. The ribs were flavorful but I wish I had asked for extra BBQ sauce for dipping. My daughter enjoyed the Teriyaki chicken. The staff was nice and the décor was pleasant. Lighting could have been dimmed a little, but overall a good place to eat and relax. If I ever get back to Mt. Airy, NC(home of Andy Griffith), I will definitely dine here again.
