It’s a lot of pressure to be the first reviewer, but I’m up to the task. Porky’s is your classic dive – no frills and good food. It’s also your standard BBQ place, but better(so good, in fact, that friends have been known to drive 2 or 3 hours out of their way just to eat here). I ate the chopped pork plate with fries, hushpuppies, and the bbq cole slaw. I also got an order of the fried okra. The pulled pork was very, very good, and so were the hushpuppies(my vegetarian husband couldn’t stop raving about them). I’m not normally a fan of cole slaw, but this stuff was good, and it was homemade. Imagine that! No soggy cabbage here! The fries, not surprisingly, were lackluster, and they were merely vehicles for the bbq sauce. Porky’s makes a tangy sauce and sweet sauce, both of which are excellent, and really, isn’t that the best part of bbq? The fried okra was nice too, and I was surprised to learn that it was frozen. All in all, it was a good meal. And if you have room for dessert(I didn’t), you’re in luck because Porky’s also serves up a variety of ice creams.
