Round Peak Winery has gone to the dogs! Our first two trips to the winery/brewery were great. We bought several bottles of wine & some beers then. This time was different. Before we finished parking the car there were two dogs barking at the car doors. One of the dogs was quite aggressive. We thought about leaving but someone came out of the tasting room and called the dogs off. We tasted red wines and beers. We left empty-handed. None of the wines available for tasting were worth tasting let alone buying a bottle or so. There were some decent beers but we decided not to buy any because we don’t plan on returning. The girl behind the bar was very knowledgeable and friendly. She apologized to us for the intrusion of the aggressive dogs. We told her that we are dog people but were very apprehensive. She told us that the dogs belong to the owner and he brings them to work with him during the week. We will enjoy the wines that we bought there last time we were there but will not return to buy more.

Went to Round Peak on 2÷13÷16 and had a great time. The wine was enjoyable, but if you love beer this is the place for you. All of the high gravity beers were great. Customer service was friendly and helpful. Talked to one of the brewers and I understand why the beer was so good. If you have great people you will have a great product.

The bestie and I were heading up to New River and decided to stop at a few wineries. We had remembered Round Peak from the Great Grapes Festival and I had seen that they now do craft beer as well. This is a super cute dog friendly place that even has a little run for dogs located next to the tasting room. The wine is pretty good and I was able to find a few reds that I liked. The beer was strong for sure and I only tried one because this was the last winery we stopped at and I was very full. They charge $ 1 per wine per tasting and the beer was like $ 1.25 or something like that. This way you can taste exactly what you want to taste without having to suffer through some wines you just know you aren’t going to like(aka most whites). The girl who did our tasting was a super nice person and we enjoyed hanging out with her for a bit. I wish it was closer as they are doing a doggy Halloween«dogtober» kind of event on the 30th and I would absolutely take my dog out there if they were! They definitely made my list of dog friendly places and I hope to make it back soon.

Round Peak Vineyards is a very cool and relaxing spot right outside of Mount Airy. It is an awesome place to spend a Sunday afternoon, whether you are from the area or are just passing through. Round Peak offers both their own wine and beer brewed on site. The brewery is called Skull Camp and is offered on tap at some local places in the area. This winery is kind of off the beaten path, and although it is technically in Mount Airy, it is about 20 – 30 minutes outside of Downtown Mount Airy. That being said, it is worth the drive out. I would plan on spending at least a couple of hours here. We came out on a Sunday afternoon to check out Round Peak. I am a fan of both beer and wine so this was an awesome place for me. We decided to first do a wine tasting. The wine tasting is a great deal and is fairly low key. You just check whatever wines you want to try from the menu and the person pouring will choose the right order for you to taste. Each tasting of wine is only a dollar(so if you try five wines, then it is only $ 5). All of the wines that we tried were very good. They have both sweet and dry options. My favorite was the Cab Franc, but they also had some nice blends. After the wine tasting, we decided to do a beer tasting as well. They had five of their own beers on tap(A red, IPA, Black IPA, Porter, and Bourbon Barrel aged Stout). Once again, all of these were very good. My favorite was the IPA, but that is just my preference. The Bourbon Barrel aged Stout was also very good. As with the wine tasting, you could choose any number of beers that you wanted to try. Each tasting was a $ 1.25. They have a small inside area where the bar is and they put on the tastings. This area is nice and modern, but the real reason to come here is for the view that you get on the patio out back. It is a large area with a good amount of tables. You can enjoy a drink out here while soaking in the view of the vines and the backdrop of the mountains. This is a great spot for conversation and really just soaking in the scenery. Round Peak is a great option to fill an afternoon, especially if you have both beer and wine drinkers in your party. This will definitely make everyone happy. Everything is very reasonably priced and the tastings especially are a bargain. The view is incredible and the back patio is the perfect place to relax. We will absolutely be back and will bring friends.

Great selection of wines and beer. Beautiful patio overlooking vineyards. Sangria is awesome but only on tap. Just off 77 and well worth the short drive.

Literally our new favorite north carolina winery! Our family usually stops at a winery on the way home from our Ohio road trips. We weren’t going to stop this trip and my husband was like go for it! From the time we pulled in we felt so welcomed. There was an amazing area for our dog that was traveling with us that is fenced in so they can run while we were inside tasting. He was in heaven! We had our 8 month old daughter with us and they welcomed her with open arms. I did a wine tasting and my husband did wine and beer. Everything we tried was delicious! The staff was so warm and welcoming! It made the experience that much sweeter. We were thinking it was going to be an hour stop… turned into 2.5 hours! We ended up doing the beer tasting on the back patio and it is AMAZING! The views are perfect and so relaxing. Thank you so much to the staff for making this a perfect experience for us! We will be back!

I’ve been to a few wineries in the area a number of times. This one hasn’t always been consistent with the taste of their wines nor their beers. They have a few wines which are fine and I enjoy. The same goes toward the beer selection. The people that work there can be inconsistent with how they talk about the products. The first time I had went they talked them up like they knew every little thing about it(same as the last time, she was nice, pleasant and knew about it). However, a number of times before that all I received from them was«here it is and here’s what they say it should taste like.» Which left me not wanting to come back. When I taste the wine itself have ended up tasting more chemical than the fruit itself(here and there). When I’ve tried the beer the only one that has stood out has been the stout. I will come back. I do like to see the differences in the product from time to time. I do like the setup of the place and that they are pet friendly.

This place is extremely cool and worth the stop! We happened by on a damp cold Sunday afternoon traveling from Duke University back to Tennessee. The stop was right on time in many ways! We sampled several wines and four Skull Camp beers. We joined their club and took several bottles of wine home. Inside and out was very nice, relaxing, and accommodating. We were impressed by the scenery and the staff. The only disappointment of the day was not being able to take home some of the Austrian Lager. It was not in stock but as good as I have ever tasted. Rita, our hostess, was very helpful and kind and knowledgeable. Anyway, we’ll be back sometime soon.

We love this place!!! We stopped on a drive from Blacksburg to Charlotte and absolutely adored the brewery & winery combo. The owner gave us our tasting(wine for me and beer for my husband) and he was extremely knowledgable plus enjoyable to chat with! They have an amazing view on the patio and being pet friendly was an awesome plus for our pup. We walked out with their fabulous rosé and Chardonnay… would have loved to take some of their porter as well, but they had limited stock available… altogether great experience and totally recommend making the stop — well, well worth it!!!

We thoroughly enjoyed this spot. Very nice that they were as dog friendly as could be(could not take the dog in due to health regulations, but they have an enclosed dog area and gave our Golden Retriever a milk bone which she appreciated. She and my wife even took a walk through the vineyard — not sure who enjoyed it more :). Wines were excellent — I bought the Fiddlers Red(tasted like an excellent Bordeaux — very nice finish) and the Cabernet after tasting them. Other Wines were good too, will likely by a bigger selection next time. I plan on going back to sample the micro brews another time as well — can’t wait. They have a selection of the other microbrews from the area and a number of ciders, and a nice place to picnic or even grill on the weekend. We can’t wait to go back again.

Super cool vineyard. Definitely a little more hip then the majority of the other vineyards around. After a long weekend of drinking wine, I wanted something different and heard that Round Peak is now brewing beer. So this review is more for their Skull Camp beer then their wine. Although their wine did look impressive. We were given the option of doing a beer tasting, wine tasting, or both. As far as the wine tasting it can also be broken up into two tastings, between their sweeter wines and the dry wines. The cost for tasting one set of wines was around $ 5 and for both it was $ 9. The beer tastings were for four beers. I do not recall the cost but I believe it was about $ 5. We were told that the beer was always changing but on that day they had a stout, double IPA, pale ale, and the last one I do not even know what it was. It was some type of grape ale. I thought all the beer was great with the exception of the grape beer. For us the grape beer was undrinkable. I am an IPA drinker, but I thought the stout was by far the best. As far as the vineyard itself, it is absolutely gorgeous… they have a huge back patio that would look great for in the summer. I could hang out there all day over looking the vineyards.

Fabulous for the wine and dog friendly. Dry, semi and sweet, something for everyone. Events are very friendly and inclusive.
