Mt Aukum General Store

Just moved to the area. Sort of the middle of nowhere. This store is pretty adorable, extremely unpretentious (if you’re expecting fancy, you’re WAY off) a little of everything from horse feed to fountain sodas to electrical and plumbing supplies to canning supplies to convenience food. Sure, some of it looks like it’s been there for years, but I have yet to need something they don’t have :) Called ahead to check on some electrical tubing, they had it cut and waiting for me when I arrived. needed a specific electrical thing, they looked through everything until they found it. Had a friend driving by with a truck — they allowed me to call in payment for friend to pick up so I didn’t have to make a special trip down. Very local, very «a little bit of everything» feel.

This store is such a great store to have up here. The owners are friendly, as are all the staff, they are knowledgeable and very helpful. If you need something, chances are they have it. Middle of winter, snow on the ground and you have a broken water pipe? They have what you need to fix it. In the middle of putting in new flooring and you need some caulking last minute? They have it and several choices.
Chains, nails by the handsful, paint, wine, pvc pipe and fresh tomatoes. Literally, they have a little bit of everything.
And their gas prices beat out most other places in a 35 mile radius in all directions.
So, if you’re coming through the area, or if you live here, stop in for a hot cup of coffee in the morning on the way to work, a cold fountain drink on a warm day or just to grab milk on the way home at night, stop by Mount Aukum General Store and experience the real country feel.

I stop in every time I visit my folks — its a old fashioned general store with a little bit of everything from gasoline to baseball bats — Dave, the owner, is almost impossible to «stump» when it comes finding that certain part or knowing how fix something. He’s awesome & so are the rest of his crew. I so happy to give $$$ to a local business like this & not Walmart.
