Good food, served fast. Portions could be a little bigger but very tasty. Nice patio area. A regular stop when we are in the area.

Great beer, great food and great staff. My wife and I came on a Wed evening and had no wait and food took the normal amount of time to come out. Overall a great experience and great food. Will definitely be coming back!

I spent two years in Germany back when Jimmy Carter was the POTUS. Now when I get a craving for authentic German cuisine I come to this place. I have tried other places that boast of German fare only to leave disappointed, not so at The Bavarian Haus.

The worst schnitzel I have ever had it was covered with canned mushrooms with thin gravy. The pork was tough as shoe leather. Excellent beer. But next time I am going to Sanford.

I don’t think there’s anything to rave about. Went here on a Sunday afternoon with a group of 3. I ordered the Stammer Max with a side of red cabbage and man the food was really disappointing. There was just no flavor. It’s basically sliced ham on two pieces of bread with sunny side up eggs. The eggs were overcooked, not runny at all. The red cabbage had an odd after taste I think from too many cloves. It also took way too long to get our food, about an hour for lunch and they were not full. The waitress explained a malfunction with their system. She put the orders in but it didn’t get relayed to the kitchen.

Delicious authentic German food. Must leave room for homemade strudel! A quaint place to enjoy a lunch or dinner. Owners work and on premises. Clean attentive good atmosphere, listen to German music while you enjoy your meal. Seating inside or out doors. I have gone and brought friends and family from Clermont worth the trip, you won’t be disappointed!

This place has great, authentic German food. We have been to more than one German restaurant in the area and this one by far is the best. The food was delicious and the service was fantastic. We will definitely be back soon and often!

Do not pay attention to the bad reviews! I have been here on multiple occasions and the service and food quality are always consistent. Order the Wiener Schnitzel with red cabbage and Spatsle. You will not be disappointed!

Two stars for the food only. Service –1 if that is possible. Ordered ice tea and hot tea, pork soup, and sausages with potato salad. Soup arrived no drinks, ate the soup no drinks, meals arrived and ice tea no hot tea. Half way through my meal hot tea arrived. Opened the tea paper and someone used the tea bag and put 3 used sugar wrappers in the tea bag wrapper. Waitress never came back to check on us. Owner came by to clear the table and I told him about the tea bag issue and he said«don’t know how that happened» I had to ask to make sure We did not get charged for the tea. No apologies from the owner. Been here 3 times and bad service is the norm here. Next time we are in the mood for good food with good service we will drive to the Willow Tree in Sanford. Always consistently good food and service.

Limited beer selection. The quality of food was disappointing. If you want quality German food you should make the trip to Willow Tree Inn Sanford. Quality of service was poor.

Just no. I don’t understand how they are still in business. The appetizers look like dog and cat food. The only good part were the pickles because lord knows they didn’t make them. Parts of one appetizer were still frozen. Entrees came and we were hopeful but inevitably let down. The roll of meat was still cold in the middle and we were afraid to complain because we didn’t want microwaved meat in return. The potato dumplings were not good. You could probably bounce them against the wall if you gave it a shot. They mixed up our sides so they were on separate plates and in different sauces. The waitress was fine, nice and apologetic. Slow service. Only one waitress for the whole restaurant. The«cook» was helping bring food out. We sat outside and he had the nerve to smoke a cigarette near our baby on his break. Terrible. I will never ever go back and I recommend you don’t go either.

This was a pitiful experience. Went tonight, the city was hosting a a special occasion(Light Up My. Dora)… So we were in line at the hostess desk– no one advised us of a wait time or any type of hospitality; so we left. Went back, because we were craving German food and quickly got seated. However it took forever to have staff greet us for any service. Finally, we ordered– and about 45 minutes later our food arrived. It was ok at the most. Willow Tree in Sanford is the way to go if you are in the mood for great German vittles. Food– C Service– F If it’s going to be a busy night and you know this– have more hands on deck! Definitely will not go back.

Meh I wanted so much to like it. The staff is great no doubt about it I’ve always had great service which is why I’ve waited till I’ve given them 6 chances to impress. They just don’t. Besides the breakfast that was inedible everything is just plain and boring not surprising after you see the bank of microwaves they use to cook with but its just so disappointing.

We always go to German restaurants, and this is definitely my favorite so far. The apple dumpling and Black Forest cake is delicious too! The prices are perfect, the service is great… go there!

Always love our experience here! I get the same thing every time, Wiener schnitzel art with spätzle and red cabbage. The red cabbage however is never consistent, it changes the way it tastes sometimes. We usually get the pretzel as an appetizer and once we got it a little over cooked and it was like trying to chew a tire but they quickly corrected it and it was good. The waitress is always very friendly and the service is always fast. Food is always great!

Great food. Great beer. I would love go again and drink outside and people watch! Very authentic. They even had someone playing German music on an accordian.

Third time i tried to eat here. We are greeted rudely… AGAIN… I have tried three times and each time the staff is so rude and off putting we end up walking out. One time we sat down, waited more than 20 min and no greeting at all. One time they rudely said. Sit anywhere if you are eating. We did. No service and we left… One time there were no seats outside so we went inside and nobody would help us. There was a musician sitting at the front door… Waiters and waitresses rumble past as if we were potted plants… Ill never know how this place stays open.

Had not been to Mount Dora for years. Up here on business. The Bavarian Haus is solid. Good food charming staff. Had the Schnitzel Wien Art with mushroom sauce great with the Spatzle/noodles. The owner will recommend you into a great meal. They have outside seating which is great.

Where to start? Waitstaff was excellent, the food was good. My visit was during the Mt Dora Art festival and they had implemented an EVENTMENU. One would think such a menu is designed to keep things moving. Well, Not really we waited about 20 minutes for our food. No bread, no salad just waiting. My sauerbraten which was overpriced for the portion was good. The red cabbage was very good, but I strived to find the German in the German potato salad. Quaint place, quaint décor. I think maybe I would give them a second chance.

Food is authentic. Yummm … so very tasty! Service is friendly. Table area was clean and comfy. Atmosphere feels German. Brought back great memories I have of my years in Germany. Servings are large, just like in Germany. I saved room for dessert and loved every bite of the apfelstrudel. I ordered a second meal to-go and had it the next day(I travel by RV). It was also delicious, although I know most meals are best when they’re eaten fresh.
