This is epic.
SBL is the oldest bowling alley in Virginia, offering 6 lanes of duckpin bowling. Duckpin bowling? Small balls, 3 throws per square (
) just like when I was a kid.
Everything dates from the 1950s, but is well maintained. Pins left on the lane? Press a pedal, they disappear. There’s no electric recording of your score, you do it by hand on a projector. The place is clean, the staff is friendly, and everything is just oh so cheap ($ 3.50 per game, $ 2.50 for the shoes).
Note: they are not open all that frequently, so call them up or check their facebook page (
) to make sure they have open bowl when you want to go.

Never been duck pin bowling it was fun. Place is nice. Has an old school vibe, which it is. It’s been there since 1948 I think. The staff was friendly. And the prices were cheap. Definitely something to check out if you in the area.

The staff is friendly; they have lots of oldies and goodies to play; the shoes are new; duckpins bowling is lighter on the hands – what a fun activity to do with friends!
