I posted a negative comment on fb and u immediately blocked me. You have a public business and you are willing on a public forum so why can’t you take a a criticism? Your chicken noodle soup sucked and it wasn’t even soup!!! The ingredients were not cooking together in a pot. I guess throwing some chicken cold noodles and four carrots in a plastic container, adding a cup of tepid water is your definition of soup!!! The worst thing was that a medium cost 9 $ !!! That is a ludicrous price for chicken soup. I don’t want a credit because I am never going here again

Two paninis, neither of them cooked even close to long enough. Two soups, one a «creamy» one that could only be described as gloppy. The other was tasteless. The is my second or third try for this place. Tried again only because someone else felt it would be better. It doesn’t get better. Hard to believe this little place is even affiliated with Café of Love.

I actually really enjoy the soups here and the sandwiches. The only downside is the pricing. A small soup is $ 7/$ 8 which is a bit ridiculous. I understand everything is homemade so they say but that doesn’t justify the over priced items. A one person meal will cost you over 20 bucks. If it were more affordable I’d be there almost everyday.

The presentation is agreeable the ingredients appear fresh and the staff is friendly but the price is outrageous! I ordered a large vegetable soup(32oz) and the cost came to $ 17. Perhaps they do other things well but the soup is categorically over priced.

I have been sick the past few days and had the chicken and dumpling soup for dinner every night. I swear, that soup lessened the duration of my cold. Let it be noted, I am not a doctor nor do I play one on TV. ;)

Mediocrity: lackluster greeting to a new, enthused customer; lukewarm soups(chicken noodle and lemon chicken) that are overly-priced…bread was offered? One would think a loaf might accompany the few ounces in the ironically large brown paper bag, which I think is what I loved most about this visit. Oh yeah, the empanadas were humble and simple with only beef(no cheese, sauce, added ingredients) but the crust was exceptional.

Feeling under the weather I passed the place by chance. I wondered if they had a good chicken soup, it would have made my day. They had chicken bone broth as a special. Perfect I thought. $ 9 for 16 oz of chicken broth? That’s a bit much. Soup is supposed to be served scalding hot. This was luke warm. A bit salty for my tastes too and I like salt. For the price, and the luke warm broth I would never return

Do not be fooled by the tiny store front and cutesy décor. Ladle of love is lame. I visited there location yesterday afternoon after seeing their soups in a store. I was duped by soups sold in mason jars. There were three major things wrong with my experience: my soup was barely warm, not hot, not anything out of the ordinary flavor wise. Could have come from a can. It was the chunky vegetable soup and it tasted like thin pizza sauce, it wouldn’t even pass for pizza sauce. My meatball panini, ordered without cheese, came out with cheese on it, barely warm. The meatballs themselves were dry and flavorless. The most predominate flavor of the whole sandwich were the oats on top of the bread. It was an unnecessary and unpleasant sweetness. Where was the sauce?! It could have used some of the soup on it. It was such a bland sandwich that even the farts the next day were more flavorful. Lastly the photos of the owner with Oprah were a sad attempt at name dropping to over compensate for the food that clearly couldn’t and can’t and won’t speak for itself.

I used to be a regular here until today. I don’t know what happened, but the soup is now absurdly overpriced for small portions. A «medium» is $ 11, but is more like a small. On top of that it was lukewarm and at the very most average. Very disappointed and will not be returning.

I hate to do this because I typically love all their products. Their split pea, cauliflower salsify, vegetable dumpling, harvest celebration and tuscan tomato are great. I don’t even like soup and I’m willing to pay 12 – 13 dollars for a container. The wheels have come off with the beef Bourguignon. Not only is it insanely expensive(9.94 with tax) for the smallest size, but it was SO sub par. The broth was thin and flavorless except for salt(was wine used at all?). The beef had tons of sinew and lacked tenderness. I even found raw beef in the bottom which I did not eat. I don’t know if this was just a terrible batch, but LOL needs to take a look at this before they lose a customer for life. So disappointed because I came 20 minutes just to visit their brick and mortar shop. Doubtful I’d do it again.

I wanted to confirm if I was crazy or if it was LoL. I keep going back to see if things will get better, so… I went back again for their ridiculously expensive $$$ 10.00 cup of soup and stale bread. Again I ordered the Chicken Dumpling Medium Soup. I SPECIFICALLY asked if the soup was hot. I let them know that the last time it was not, and the dumplings were like chunks of Spackling Paste. I was assured that the soup would be hot. Damn, I fell for the stinking lie again. It was rainy, and the 30 second walk back to the car had made my HOT soup luke warm to cold. OH, what’s the point. SONEVERGOBACK unless you have a microwave oven in your car and can re-make the lead dumplings. This place sucks and is a complete rip off! Ninth time confirms it is now consistently awful! I’m so done!

5 stars for the food. The soups are top notch. 3 Stars for the service. I was waiting for like 10 minutes before someone asked me if i needed anything. Granted, i was taking time looking at the menu, but I think they should be somewhat friendlier. Maybe because they are just used to serving regulars, and it was my 1st time here because I heard great things about this storefront. Ladle of Love has really yummy soups. They are a bit pricey but they’re worth the price. I question the paper container because the soup makes them get soggy. However, the food is top notch.

They’re more than just soup. Every time I go in there(1 – 2 times a week) I intend on buying a soup, and instead leave with a whole bunch of other dishes instead. They are SO good! I’ve decided to have them cater my wedding. I’m addicted to their food!

Soup was great but the lady at the counter was sloppy and soup was on the outside containers. I asked her to double bag my items and she said we don’t do that. Lazy lady at the counter needs to be replaced. Again soup was good.

I cannot say enough. A few months ago my mom took ill and was in the hospital for a few weeks. A friend brought a week’s worth of soup for my dad. He raved about it. When my mom got home, the same friend brought more soup for her. My mother said the matzah ball soup was as good as my grandmother’s. The soup was not only delicious, but provided comfort to my parents during a difficult time.

Umm, ridiculously overpriced and the ingredients are not even organic. My chicken soup had 1 piece of chick and it was $ 11. No thanks.

Chicken dumpling soup is out of this world, okay?!? Very expensive but you have to pay it because the soup is insane.

Most delicious soup I’ve ever had! The ingredients are fresh, it was a little cold for my soup temperature. It was warm, I like my soup hot. It’s on the pricey side but you pay for the quality of the food. Whenever I’m sick or craving some soup, Ladle of Love is the place I’ll be going!

First time I punched the address into my navigation… it sent me to a place that did not exist… In fact, it led me right to Cosi. I was pissed because when a foodie is on a mission, it’s serious. Ladle of Love is in the alley(or what my Chicago boys would call a gangway) next to Cosi. I had the Harvest Celebration and the man had the clam chowder and we both enjoyed it. $ 7 for a small bowl of soup isn’t exactly cheap, but then again, what is in NY? :-( I would return and try another soup. The people in there were really nice, but be warned, there is no place to eat and if 3 or more people are in line, it gets downright crowded.

Please note that I am reviewing the Ladle of Love mobile mini truck that is at the former location of Tavern on the Green. I heard abou LOLt on the news. I inspected the truck and noticed it was powered by electricity and I became intrigued. I tried to make small talk with the two men, one who was writing up the menu and the other who was preparing sandwiches. I noticed that there was a knife on the ground and jokingly asked if it was compost-able in which he responded, «yes.» For a half second I forgot I was in NYC, where recycling is a law but it is rarely implemented! My cheddar and ham grilled sandwich hit the spot. I am looking forward to trying out the soups on my next run.
