In the woods between Geneseo and Mount Morris there’s a giant waterfall that empties into a pond and then continues as a stream for a couple of hundred feet through a small gorge. It’s a bit of a task to get there in the first place, but the waterfall is impressive at about sixty feet high, and the pond at the bottom is a good depth for playing around and can comfortably accommodate a dozen people. The Fall Brook is accessible from Route 63; there’s a small pull-off along the western(southbound) side of the road, large enough for maybe four or five cars. Walking into the woods, you’ll go up a small crest, and then down a fifty-foot precipice. You have to be fairly able-bodied to get down; there are ropes to grab in the steeper sections, but you’ll need a good sense of balance(and sturdier shoes than the flip-flops you brought to splash around at the bottom). The Fall Brook is private property, by the way; whoever owns it seems okay with people visiting, but do be courteous. This is a fun, out-of-the-way spot to visit, as long as you’re able to get down to it in the first place. The novelty of playing around in a big ol’ waterfall and the beautiful views earn this place four stars.
