For the fact this spot was being worked on a bit this wasn’t too bad & the massages were professional & such & no dirty stuff so if you got that thought GETYOURMINDOUTOFTHEGUTTER. Professionally massaged 7 feel rejuvenated. Though they had construction so I couldn’t do a whirlpool or sauna I can imagine the end results of after the construction.

We booked our massages by phone in advance. They called back within a few minutes to say that that time wasn’t actually available. We had to move a full hour earlier than we had originally agreed upon. When we arrived, the girl at reception routed us down an elevator to the actual spa. There was nobody there. A few clipboards sat unattended at a desk. We grabbed them and filled out the required information. Some information seemed fairly unnecessary and unrelated to the massage I had signed up for(EX: profession), so when a staff member finally came by I asked if I could leave those fields blank. She said that every field was mandatory. She brought me into an area labeled men’s locker room and gave me some quick instructions before promptly disappearing. I had the vague impression that I was supposed to shower and head through some door when I was ready. When I finished, I headed through the door and found an empty waiting area with some fancy chairs, water, green tea, and no instructions. I had a drink and sat down, assuming that someone would be with me. It took a while but eventually someone came by and confirmed that I was supposed to be waiting. Finally, my massage therapist came out. She was a lovely lady(minus a few fingers) and the primary reason that this review isn’t bad. I had a wonderful hour and a half with her as she listened to my inane stories and worked on my heavily knotted muscles. At the end, I was informed that I could go back the showering area and use the sauna and steam room before leaving. Sadly, the steam room was broken during my stay. I got my stuff and went back to the uncomfortably empty paperwork area to wait for my wife before leaving.

Very nice ambiance here in this spa. The masseuse man that they had really worked out the knots in my neck and shoulders. Well done! We made a reservation over the phone from our room and it was very easy to do that.

This is a pretty nice spa located right inside the Mt Airy Casino. The spa is located off the lobby and you check in at the desk but then you take an elevator down to the actual spa. After you check-in, the girl working the front desk gives you a quick little tour and shows you to your locker. I have had massages before but this was the first time I had been to an actual spa. My locker was already set-up and my robe and slippers/sandals were waiting for me. The slippers were a little too small for me since I wear a size 13 but I was able to wear them. I am going to break my review up into 2 parts: the spa itself and the actual massage. I really did think the spa was great. I loved how the locker with the robe was already set up for me and there were plenty of towels everywhere. The bathrooms were incredibly clean and modern. The lounge area(where you waited for them to bring you back for your massage) was pretty cool. There were lounge chairs and a flat screen TV with ESPN on(no sound, though). There were also plenty of sports magazines to read while you waited. I thought this was very cool. After my massage, I came back and was looking forward to using the steam room and sauna(you are allowed to use the facilities for up to an hour after your service). Both the steam rooms and saunas were awesome. For some reason, I find saunas and steam rooms very relaxing — not to mention you sweat a ton, too. Showers were great, as well. They were the«rainfall» showers which are really cool. As for my actual massage, I thought it was very good. Both my wife and I went with the 50 or 55 minute(can’t remember which it was exactly) swedish massage. As you would probably expect, the massage was incredibly relaxing and felt great. The masseuse I had was very professional and I thought she did a great job. It really is amazing how much better you can feel after a massage. I would definitely return to this spa again but I would probably go with a deep tissue massage next time. The spa is definitely not cheap but it was a nice treat. After reading about some other spas, I really wish this place had a hot tub/jacuzzi. That would have been awesome. But, I did enjoy myself and I would return.

I’ve been to many day spas around the country(with Pebble Beach Resort’s being at the top of the list) and I can honestly say this was, by far, the worst Spa experience I have ever had. My review for this is centered on how they present themselves on the website and all around the casino… like a RESORT style spa. For $ 120, I expected the quality, service, and ambiance of similarly priced Day Spas, such as Burke Williams, Pebble Beach, Canyon Ranch… but instead, what I received was a total joke. When I called to ask about their services, the woman who answered was extremely unhelpful. If a business’ first line of customer service is reception, then already, the Spa at Mount Airy gets a zero. She didn’t try selling the place at all, and couldn’t recommend anything. Although, she was very keen on telling me that I could only use the facilities for either an hour before my treatment or an hour after. Any self-respecting resort day spa wouldn’t restrict facilities use to either an hour before or an hour after — that is totally ridiculous. Then, the receptionist asked if she could have a credit card to hold the appointment, because it was within the 24 hour cancellation time frame. Next day, I was very careful to show up about 15 minutes before my treatment and not earlier. When I went to check in, the receptionist was a little lackluster and told me to go down the elevator and she would meet me there. Uhm… okay… I go downstairs, wait a couple minutes, and then the same lady began to very loudly talk to me and tell me the rules of the spa(once again reiterating that I can only stay an hour after my treatment). The facilities, for the price you pay, is a little bit of a joke. There’s 4 shower stalls, a sauna, and a steam room. Oh, and a lounge with about six or seven lounge chairs, a pitcher of water, and a thermos of tea. I get shown my locker(again, the lady is obnoxiously loud when talking to me… not at all a relaxing atmosphere) and regardless of asking me of my shoe size, I said, «what size slippers are those?» She looks at them like I just irritated her by asking and said the size, which wasn’t my size. I had to ask her for something different. Again, not the same treatment you would expect from a resort spa… they always ask you AHEAD of time, what your size is and gives you something appropriate as opposed to expecting you to just deal with what they give you. During my time at the spa… I did not see one attendant. Not one person told me where I could find a towel, where I’m supposed to put my robe/slippers when done… if I need a water or anything… When my treatment time came(massage), i was greeted kindly by the massage therapist, who was extremely nice and personable. Her professionalism was wonderful– she didn’t try to talk my ear off, she asked the right questions –so it sucks that I have to say the massage was mediocre. Plus, her draping techniques were… nonexistant. I think if the facilities would have been better(there wasn’t a jacuzzi or anything else), I would feel okay about the mediocre massage. Then, I was told one more time to not stay past an hour after my treatment… I was one of two people in the spa that day. Fine, whatever, I used the facilities for UNDER and hour and then went to go back to reception to pay. I noticed some product I wanted to also purchase, but I was told that my service was already taken care of. For a minute, I thought, wait, did my husband come in here and pay for me for some reason? Then she said she just charged the card I gave on the phone yesterday to hold the appt. EXCUSEME? You charged my card $ 120 without asking for authorization and a signature? I couldn’t even pay with an alternate method if I wanted? I was infuriated. Either you pay before your service, or you pay after, but for someone to just automatically charge my card without authorization? The asst. mgr apologized and said it was their policy and said the person who took my appt should have told me. So after a back and forth and basically her doing nothing but offering to charge me again on another card and refund me(takes 10 days) on the card she charged… I was very upset at the treatment and lack of customer service. She said the manager would call me… it’s been two days and I have yet to receive a call from anyone. The Spa at Mount Airy has topped my list of the worst resort day spas I have ever been to.
