Mel Doerr

I saw Mel almost 3 years ago and many of the things he told me came to pass. I would recommend him as I feel he is legit, but always remember you create your own destiny.

My wife had the opportunity to meet with Mel yesterday and he is the real deal. He definitely knew things immediately when describing family members and was right on with continuous back pain etc. it was so nice to get celerity around major changes that have happened in her life.

Well I don’t know what to say. I went to see Mel about a year ago, I went with an open mind and he and his office staff were very nice. It was a rainy day and his secretary walked me to the car with an umbrella. Mel was able to pick up on people’s energies in my life and tell me about their feelings and personalities. It was all fun and interesting; but I don’t put a lot of credence into psychics and don’t live my life by them. A year later, 3 of his predictions that I remember have come true. Two were work related and one was medical. I don’t know what to say, I’m flabbergasted! This is my first Unilocal review because I’m not sure why, but I’m stunned right now. The problem is, he doesn’t let you record his sessions, he takes notes for you and so did I. But I can’t find my notes. I’ve been looking everywhere! So in essence I believe he is gifted and intitutive, and a super nice guy also. I will keep looking for my notes, so mad at myself for misplacing them.

I was referred to Mel by a couple of other people who had gone to see him and said he was great. I was seeing someone else before for years and was looking for a change. I know someone commented on how his COST was too HIGH and that’s just CRAZY!!! I was so surprised at his cost compared to what Id been paying for my previous psychic… AND, his advice and intuition is worth it’s weight in gold. If you want a reading for any less than what he charges, you may as well go to some «behind the barber shop» tarot reader and you will get what you pay for. Ive been paying psychics and metaphysical healers for years. I’m kind of an expert!
I am an intuitive myself and was looking for guidance on that which I one of the reasons I scheduled a visit with him. He picked up on this right away. I think what a lot of people don’t understand is that psychics know and can share only what Spirit shares with them. There are some things we aren’t meant to know. There are some messages that aren’t that easy to decipher, but Mel helps explain. I know somethings may have sounded «far fetched» in my reading at this point in my life, but I have total confidence that he is right, and these things will manifest over time. He has a witty sense of humor and is just really… a cool guy. As I sat with him, I really felt like I was chatting with an old friend.
He obviously told me things no one could know. Even if I was a skeptic and thought he had nothing better to do than search me out on the internet, the information he knew about me is not something you can find online.
I highly recommend Mel, and will absolutely see him again.

He was able to recommend a book to read, which I have, that would put some of my life experiences into focus. Alena, his secretary, assured me that although Mel’s projection may not be exact in regards to date but they will occur. I have to say I went to first see Mel back in October of 2013 and I was in a relationship that I thought was off. When I visited Mel he was able to tell me where the deception was within this relationship that would lead to danger in my life. NO one KNEW the specifics except me and I was stunned to learn he knew the who, what, when, where and how! He literally saved my life from physical danger! I respect him and his talents. Today I am free of physical harm and lead a good healthy life. I plan to see him next week for more spiritual guidance. I am so thankful I found him. I plan to visit with him yearly.

I had a reading with Mel as a gift from a client a few years back. I’d say he was 80% accurate… in the middle of the reading he blurted out «don’t move to Wisconsin»…well now that I live in WI, I often think back at what good advice I didn’t take! (who knows how things turn out, but at the time I had no thought of moving here, so for him to say it at all… and WI has not been good for me or my family) LOL… there were a few things he was off about, but most were spot on in one way or another…(things detailed enough to say the kind of place I would work, the kind of hours, etc)
He also has a kind demeanor, makes you feel comfortable and if nothing else, therapists charge around $ 225 an hour… if his insight helps, it was a bargain.
I’m a pretty go with the flow person, the smoking did not bother me, nor did the pup. His office was fine, I didn’t wait long for my appointment, all was well.

Mel is right on the mark!!! I saw him a few times over the past couple of years. He came highly recommended by several social workers that I know. They said that he makes you feel comfortable and has a «conversation» with you. That «conversation» is full of information that is so incredibly on, it was hard to believe. In fact, everything that he told me, came true. I took notes, as I am an avid note taker in any situation and review my notes from our sessions about every 6 months. Well, I can honestly say that he IS the best. He is upfront, honest, sensitive, and tells you things that you might find hard to believe. But… believe! He has a gift from God. If you are ready for an honest appraisal of where are you going and have been, call for an immediate appointment!

This guy sucks. I went to him a few years ago. He’s so sure of himself that he tape records your session. So you have a track record of the BS he spins and the money you wasted coming to see him. What a crock.

He is authentic.
I first met Mel at a class on intuition. I thought he was very good. He also told us about his police work. In the class he gave informal short readings and I found his guidance to be accurate.
At least 10 years later, a friend of mine was going through a difficult time: her former son-​in-​law was missing. Police were out searching and everyone was extremely worried. I offered her Mel’s number in case she felt like contacting him.
She did and he talked to her for quite a while. He told her where to help direct the police to look for the missing person and let her know he was deceased. The young man’s body was indeed found where Mel stated and he provided peace of mind in the mean time and helped the discovery happen sooner. According to my friend, he didn’t even ask for compensation, despite being offered.
Although I have only had a reading from him in his class, I found his reading and this updated encounter years later to show he is gifted at his work and he has great integrity.

I just recently met with A different «healer, psychic» only because friends of ours set it up in a group situation. After meeting with this person, I decided to go back and read what Mel had said 17 years ago to me. (I had a written and recorded account of my time with him)
Say what you will, but my then boyfriend and I were going through some difficulties due to his insecurities from childhood. We had gone to other types of psychics, tea leave readers, therapists… lie detector test (I failed even though I was telling the truth. so be careful of those!!!) anyway… We then went to Mel. Mel looked at my then boyfriend and said, «get over it! you will be spending the rest of your life with this woman so start living your life!» He also told us that we would have 3 children and I would have one miscarriage. Guess what, I have 2 beautiful boys 15 and 14. My husband said he was done and we were blessed with the 2. He was very adamant! Then one day 6 years later I found out we had an «oops» and I was thrilled. My husband was totally scared and on the fence. He was really done but was trying to wrap his brain around it. I miscarried the baby and I was devastated. I really thought that my chance of another baby (maybe a little girl) was gone! What we didn’t know was that 2 months later we would be blessed with another «oops» We now also have a beautiful loving little lady. My husband can not imagine his life without his daughter.

My husband has some health issues now and I have just reached out to Mel, to come back to see him. We have been to so many Doctors and Mayo and Clinical trials, faith healers etc.
After 17 years, I’m going to go back to Mel.

I heard he was great. But didn’t really tell me much. He was very expensive.

I’ve never met a more trusted and beloved psychic as Mel! I was referred to Mel from a friend about 10 years ago and will not go to any other spiritual advisor. I usually visit him at least once a year. I’ve been to other psychics before that want lots of money in exchange for a «cleansing.» Mel doesn’t try to pull any of that funny business either. He takes time necessary to tend to every client he has because he wants to give the best reading possible. He’s not a nickel and dime dealer either. He has amazing insight and has stunned me with some of the predictions he has made! I just recently went to see him and left with a great feeling of guided perspective as a result of his wisdom. That’s the feeling I’ve always gotten too, even if the news he has had to tell me isn’t the best or isn’t what I want to hear. I have to say that in spite of a rough year Mel has had, he still delivers! Not many people can do their job as well as he does after triple bypass surgery and the loss of a pet! Mel is fantastic both as an intuitive and has a counselor. He has been an invaluable source of information regarding future business deals as well as health issues. Does he run late– yes, but does he cut your time short– no. Agree that Mel does not give you bs and will call you out if you try to give it to him.

Mel is simply one in a million! He is much more than an intuitive, he also provides me with very sage advice and heartfelt support. Mel is a no «bs» guy and sometimes he has some pretty challenging stuff to tell me – he definitely is NOT one of those who just tells you what you want to hear. That said, it amazes me that I always leave feeling very hopeful. He is also very nonjudgmental, which makes it so easy to discuss anything with him. I have had numerous readings with Mel, and other psychics in the past, but Mel by far is the most detailed and accurate. Even on a first reading, it is like sitting down with an old friend… he amazingly knows your whole story and just has great insights to assist you in figuring out situations. He has been very a very supportive source to me in finding clarity and validation on issues of confusion or life shift for me. I would also like to add that Mel is a wonderful teacher who does great classes up at the Infinity Foundation in Highland Park.
Yes Mel often has his dog at the office and will have a cigarette or two during your reading if you are ok with it. Yes his office is eclectic and wonderful as it reflects so much about him. Yes sometimes he runs behind. But that would be because he is extremely generous with his time and he is good about having his staff give ya a call if there is a time issue. It is important to know too that anyone who is familiar with the intuitive community knows that Mel Doerr has been a fixture in Chicagoland for many years. He is a full time intuitive, very booked up and there ain’t no neon PSYCHIC sign display at his office. He really has nothing to prove, he has an incredible gift and uses it in a very mindful and caring way. His long standing establishment and work with hundreds of people clearly shows he is the real deal. I give Mel my highest recommendation, he is just a wonderful human being.

It’s funny that he got a bad review previously when he is the teacher of one of the Chicago psychics with the best reviews on Unilocal,Delphina, who is also the person who referred me to him! He is definitely a professional. Mel is also a wedding officiant.
I was asked in advance if dogs or smoking were a problem for me, so I was not surprised by the dog or smell of cigarettes. They will accommodate to you if it is a problem for you.
I was called early to alert me that Mel was running a bit late, so I came in later than my appointment time and did not wait long.
The first thing I did in my reading was write my name, date of birth, and place of work on the page he would be writing on for my reading. The entire reading is written on paper by him for you to take home for reflection.
We went into conversation regarding an individual and I found he was attaining energy from this individual accurately and was helpful in providing me with insight into the current and future circumstances. He also branched out into intentions of third parties and also accurately depicted these individuals in the reading.
Everything that Mel and I discussed was exactly as it is in the current state, but details unknown to me were also explained for an overall sense of understanding of the entire «horizon,» so to speak.
I got a good vibe from him and our discussion. We definitely were on the same page throughout the entire reading.
Mel has stated that in terms of specific time frames he can be off. This is a weak point of his, but he alerts you of a number. Numbers can be an amount of days, weeks, or months, and can also represent a number of a month (i.e. 11 — November). He is also always sure to tell you whether or not he feels years can be a factor in the time frame, but in my case they were not years.
This small detail is minuscule when taking the entire reading into consideration. I am not disappointed by any means and would definitely recommend him.

It’s important to note that all psychics don’t have certain «criteria» that make them capable of energetic connection. For some people, they use tarot cards as a vessel. Other psychics can just look at you. Some psychics, like Mel, utilize basic demographic information to tune into you or remotely tune into someone who isn’t there. This is not unusual and doesn’t make him a bad psychic.
With that being said, I am definitely satisfied with the service I received today and appreciate Mel’s insight into my life circumstances. I will definitely go back.

My scheduled appointment was delayed by over an hour because Mel wanted to squeeze in a friend of one of his other clients ’cause it was her birthday. I would have had no problem with that except the receptionist should have called me to let me know, but she was too busy with her personal phone calls. So I ended up arriving on time and sat in the waiting room for over an hour reading some magazines from 2 years ago. To be fair, I did get a modest discount on my reading due to the delay. The office reminded me of a church basement and reeked of cigarette smoke, so don’t wear clothes you actually care about. He and his staff won’t smoke while you’re there if you don’t want them to, but that doesn’t mean the second hand lung cancer-​causing stuff just magically disappears. Also, if you don’t mind dogs, Mel will have one of his running freely around the place. When you call to make an appointment, his staff member will ask you about your preferences and provide you with some information.
A reading costs $ 150 (cash only, at least for the first time) for one hour. Mel will ask you to write down your name, date of birth and age at the beginning of the reading. He will ask you for the full name and age of anyone you ask him about. He will ask you a lot of other questions. Not sure why he would need all this information if he’s a real psychic. He will write his predictions down for you to take home.
Mel asked me a lot of questions and made educated guesses based on the provided information. For example, when I asked about a family member’s health, he asked for her full name and age and proceeded to say something general like…“She will have blood pressure issues.” First he says high blood pressure, observes my reaction closely, and changes his «prediction» to low blood pressure after I give him a quizzical look. It also seemed like he was just telling me what I wanted to hear. Most of his predictions do not have any kind of time line — of the two that actually did, he’s been off the mark for one, and the other’s still going to need a few years to test. I’m not going to hold my breath. If his major predictions actually do turn out to be accurate, I’ll edit my rating and review.

In response to Angelina T.‘s review, she’s obviously someone from Mel’s office trying to salvage his reputation. Otherwise, how would she have supposedly known what day I went in for my reading? Mentioning having his dog in the office was just an FYI for others who may be fearful of or allergic to dogs, not a complaint by any means.
To update, I’ve downgraded my rating to ZERO STARS given the barrage of fake positive reviews all posted on the same day which demonstrates shady business practice. Thank goodness for Unilocal’s filter function. I’d mentioned in my original review that I would addend my review and rating if Mel’s predictions turn out to be accurate, which, to date, they haven’t. Unfortunately he just told me what I wanted to hear instead of the truth. If he truly stands behind his «gift from God», he should feel confident that time will tell and this review will evolve accordingly instead of resorting to crooked tactics.
In the mean time, I would recommend someone more likely to be authentic like Delphina. Of note, she has all 5 star reviews written by people who didn’t just coincidentally join Unilocal this month, have more than one other review under their belts, and oh, aren’t the person being reviewed!
