Burger Express

Decent food and shakes, and very nice kids that work here, but it’s pricey & service is super slow here.

We usually stop in about once a week after errands in the town of Mt. Shasta. I also like to drop in after hiking up on the mountain. Definitely a cut above fast food places. There’s a good variety of tasty food on the menu. The burgers are decent – not the best you’ve ever eaten but certainly not a disappointment. The fish and chips, shrimp and chips, and calamari and chips are surprisingly good. So are the potato wedges, but those can quickly run up your bill. They also offer fried chicken that’s quite tasty. If you like ice cream, you have to try their milkshakes. Sit out front and enjoy the view of the mountain. They take the full range of credit cards but are only open until 6pm M-​F and 5pm on Saturday. Closed Sunday.

I’ve eaten their twice in the past week, Once on my own, while in town for work, liked it so much that 2 days later I made the trip back from Redding, (this time with my elderly mother in tow) to share with her what I considered a very good burger. Needless to say, we were both very pleased with our meals. I would highly recommend this location for a quick lunch. it’s worth the trip. By the way, this is the first 5 star rating I’ve ever given on Unilocal.The only down side was that they aren’t very ADA compliant.

The «express» in the name refers to the railroad theme, and should no way indicate that you might get your food anytime soon.
Also, my food was not good.

Ordered a BBQ chicken sandwich. Was thoroughly not impressed. $ 6 for a thin piece of dry chicken and bread.

I had a great experience! Food was great and friendly service. I will stop again for lunch!

Pretty good burgers. I got the jalapeño cheeseburger and thoroughly enjoyed it, my husband got the bleu cheese burger and also liked it. The only thing that was a little irksome is that our order took about 35 mins to receive. Solid if you’re looking for a burger in mt Shasta.

This place was just okay based on my experience. Extremely unprofessional and unknowledgeable customer service. I ordered over the phone and the girl had no idea what the menu was, however my food was ready fairly quick– 20 min.
Regarding the food itself, it was not very fresh tasting. What I mean is frozen fries that were overly cooked and may as well have been potato chips because they were so crispy, and it was thrown about with jarred minced garlic. And the bacon burger was very pink, which is not appetizing to me.
The portions are very large! I say give it a try but it’s not the best burger place.

Great burgers and fries. The fries are thin and crisp. You can get onion rings or tots with a burger order. Super root beer float; you can keep refilling the root beer as often as you want. The staff was nice. Restaurant and bathrooms were very clean. Free parking in the back.

So disappointed, ordered and waited a long time, when I asked the girl in front she said they messed your order up they are redoing it. Got back to work and the chicken strips were still raw and chewy not cooked thoroughly had to recook them in the oven at work, deep fried mushrooms were cold in side and chewy, the only good thing was the Vanilla milkshake that I had to remind the girl that I ordered. Called to complain, all I got was come down and my manager may work something out with you, which would be fine if we were not at work in a lunch meeting which none of us enjoyed.

Solid burger joint. Didn’t have a burger but the grilled hotdogs was darn tasty. Shoestring frys were crispy and just the right amount of salt. My friends seemed to enjoy their burgers. Kids had chicken tenders and they were the real deal. Would have been 4 stars if the interior was a little more charming. Good stuff.

Awesome burgers! Awesome fries! Place was an excellent choice on our way through. You will not be dissatisfied.

I am a local who frequents the adjoining hair/​nail salon. I continue to be amazed just how unprofessional this outfit is — from the food preparers with long hair not wearing hair nets or even putting it up into a ponytail, to the bickering between the staff about the fact all I wanted was a shake and was forced to stand waiting while the sweaty young man (with face & hair literally wet) stood behind the counter taking and delivering food orders for customers who came after me. I wondered if he had ever heard of the saying «first come, first serve?» Making matters worse, at eye level on the counter right in front of me was a collection of clear plastic squirt bottles filled with variously colored sugar liquids for shaved ice. I couldn’t help noticing that some of them were covered with dust while others had contents that looked so old they had begun separating into their original chemical components. From there on to the restroom, which is even worse, if you can believe it!!! Sink running, mineral deposit stains, countertop looked like a lake, toilet paper dispenser in stall hanging sideways on one screw and door latch missing with a tissue stuck in it to keep people from looking in, I guess? Not sure… Also, couldn’t help but notice all of the storage items thrown around the hall and the Christmas decoration stuck in the house plant up on top (it’s Oct 3^rd).
My shake was twice the price of Dairy Queen and half the size, meaning 4x the price. To be honest, I am completely baffled to think the health dept hasn’t shut this place down, yet.

Okay fries. Wall hangings are plentiful for looking while waiting. Good burger. Nice staff. AWESOME REAL ICE CREAM SHAKE. And that’s all I ask for. So, high five B-​Ex [:

We stopped for cool refreshment and were deliciously surprised by the thick strawberry shakes made from fresh ice cream. It took about five minutes. Definitely worth the wait!

Good burger, i ordered only a cheeseburger to go and it took forever. Not only that, but the 5 orders behind me got served first, took about 30 mins for one burger.
And its not like fine dining or anything

This place has VERY good burgers and those garlic fries are LEGIT! Sit outside and get a picture perfect view of Mt. Shasta!

This place was a pleasant surprise in a seemingly dull area.
The staff was comprised a handful of high school girls and the incessant chatter that comes with that, but they knew how to make a good burger.
Although a little pricey, Burger Express is definitely worth the stop.

Delicious and filling, glad I found it here on Unilocal!Tots with cheese was great & so was the mushroom burger, made my way w/​out grilled onion. Give it a go, ull b glad u did!
