I would almost live in Mt Shasta to be able to come to this video store more often. This place has popular/new releases as well as carefully curated classics, foreign movies, documentaries, and anything else you’d want. Plus they have recommendations from staff(which are generally pretty right on). I’d honestly forgotten about the joys of going to an actual, real-life video store until my husband and I happened upon this place. Definitely recommend!

We were just passing through Mt. Shasta for a couple of nights and stopped by this store. They were super friendly and I’d highly recommend stopping in.

James knows his stuff! This place is legit. I picked up The Magnificent Seven and he recommended Red Sun. They have everything, I was impressed with the selection of classics and criterion section.

AMAZING! I LOVE this place– Fantastic selection, super knowledgable & friendly staff, so happy I found this gem. They have all my favorite directors & a seriously diverse selection of movies. Every single employee has taken time to help me find the perfect movie for my mood that day :) James, the owner knows his movies! Always helpful and friendly. Can’t say enough good things about this place, I always know I will find what I’m looking for & leave happy!

I used to live in Mt. Shasta in 2005. I LOVED Couch Critics then(being a regular customer that year) and I’ve spent another week here visiting Mt. Shasta and amazingly its become an even better video store over the years! I live just outside of Hollywood in Los Angeles now and I can’t find a video store in L.A. with a more knowledgeable staff, a more complete Criterion or rare films section, or anywhere near the care and selection that Couch Critics takes to stock their films. They have an excellent and extensive library section of older films, and have done a great job keeping new release titles in stock. Highlights to their catalog(to me) are the incredibly well rounded foreign film sections(categorized by country or region), the extensive wall of Criterion Collection releases, and I truly agreed with most of the Employee Picks section. If you are looking for something special and don’t know what to pick, or want something that is great but you’ve never heard of, just ask James, Elijah or anyone at the counter. They all movie buffs who know films and can give a good honest opinion to steer you straight. If my review isn’t obvious enough, I’d highly recommend this place if you are visiting the area, or live nearby. Locals know this is the best place to get great films to rent.

Good selection of Blu-Ray, hard to find video titles, new releases almost always available and people who know the movies. They have great deals too with packages like 5 movies for 5 days for $ 5. I love that you can get a pint of ice cream for the full couch-potato experience in one stop. A little funky but that aside, a great local business.

Couch Critics has a great selection of obscure movies that you can’t find everywhere. It’s a place the locals support. They let me slide on late fees most of the time. I often get a free old movie when I rent a new release.
