I think this is a must stop if you’re in the Renfro Valley area. It’s close to the interstate, so even if you’re just passing through, I think it’s worth the stop. This is a smaller version of the Country Music Hall of Fame, that’s in Nashville. I’m a country music fan, so I found it neat to read the history of Renfro Valley and Kentucky native musicians. There are exhibits featuring everyone from two of the Backstreet Boys to Loretta Lynn. Naomi Judd’s purple dress and shoes from the final concert was one of my favorites. My dad’s favorites were the two antique vehicles and the display about their history. The place is quite big considering there aren’t a ton of famous Kentucky musicians and songwriters. It really only took about 45 minutes to go through the exhibits. Not too bad for the current $ 7.50 admission price.

This is a fabulous museum. Five students and I were returning from a week of work in eastern Kentucky when we pulled into the parking lot. The CEO took time to walk us through the Hall of Fame. Certainly his knowledge added to experience. What attracted my attention was the«Story of Bluegrass Music.» The evolution of the genre from folk roots to seminal artists captured the lessons I desired to introduce to the students as a part of our summer eight week program.
