Mazzio’s is among the most underrated pizza going in my opinion and our visit to the Mount Vernon location was a great one. While it took an unusually long time to place our order, it was not the staff’s fault but an unruly & confused customer ahead of us. With that behind us, the rest of our meal was perfect. We shared a large thin crust veggie pizza with very fresh-tasting onions, mushrooms, bell peppers, tomatoes and black olives. There were almost too many veggies piled on it, but that is a good thing, as you can take them off and snack on those separately! Their cheese is the perfect kind of melty, too. This restaurant has a nice sized salad bar and it looks like they offer buffet sometimes, but not on our Saturday dinnertime visit(we wouldn’t have chosen that anyway but figured I’d mention that for others). You order at the counter, then take a seat and number. Serve yourself drinks and extras. The décor is a upgraded a bit from some Mazzio’s, very clean and a mix of old(booth seats, artwork) and new(tables, other fixtures). Very fair and affordable price on what we ordered, although they have options at many different price points here and a new jalapeño stuffed crust option that seems to be quite popular. We’d return.

Today was better without onions. Fresh ingredients and brown bubbly cheese. Not many people here so overall quiet. Oh and the ranch is to die for!

Cowboy pizza was horrible. Like an over sized tostada plus it was burnt. Turkey sub was super dry and I asked for cheddar cheese on the side because they don’t have American and they didn’t. Italian sampler was average nothing great. For $ 26 I expected more.
