It’s Closed. I was excited to try it based on the reviews but it’s empty with for rent signs.

Amazing sandwich. Friendly service. Very reasonable prices. Delicious turkey-​chipotle-​cranberry sandwich combo that I was a little skeptical about. Then I ate it and wanted more.

The Spicy Pilgrim, enough said. Great to call in advance and pick up in the drive through. I have not ventured too far into their menu because the Spicy Pilgrim sandwich is that good. Had a little kick to it, maybe ²⁄₅ on the spicy scale.

Having the best time this vacation eating at only « Unilocal» reccommendation sites. This place gets 5 stars. Soup and sandwich never tasted so good. Club sandwich with white chicken chili soup.

This place is perfect for a delicious, fresh, natural, fast and inexpensive lunch. Went as a group of four after some tulip-​peeping in April. Found it because it has 4.5 stars on Unilocal,and want to be sure to add to the love! Total repurposed hole-​in-​the-​wall, was it like a drycleaner before?, but we were greeted by the very friendly staff when we walked up to the counter to place our order.
As I asked questions about a few dishes, I realized we were dealing with a place that cares about quality ingredients. Yes, I could get my salad made with spinach, yes the turkey was organic roast turkey breast (not deli meat), of course they have dijon mustard (not French’s). I ordered a roasted turkey spinach salad with candied sunflower seeds and others with me ordered the cuban sandwich and clam chowder, feeding the four of us for under $ 40 including some drinks and chips. Everyone enjoyed their meals, the sandwich was warm, melty and toasted and my salad was crisp and fresh. Recommend!

Half sandwich cup of soup kinda cost a lot about 9 bucks but worth it. Spicy pilgrim and broccoli chedder really great combo

The Cubano sandwich has returned. This local business is popular with the students at Mount Vernon High as it delivers soup to our school each day. Each time that I have been in for breakfast or lunch, I am greeted warmly and served well. This business must be supported. Please stop in.

The sign said «healthy fast food» but I was very disappointed with there selection of soups/​food without meat. The bread sticks are what made my visit, yummy.

Been many times now for breakfast and lunch. Every meal is delicious and the specials keep the menu fresh. The service is excellent since they are both quick and friendly. With the delicious menu and great service the prices make this place the best deal in town.

The place is called the soup bowl. I go in and they don’t have any soup ready. He said it would be awhile until it is ready. He stirred it right in front of me. I asked if he would microwave it. He said they don’t have a microwave. They were polite, but common. It’s called the soup bowl. I didn’t want a sandwich, I wanted soup.

I stopped in here with my wife, and she ordered a bowl of clam chowder. I ordered a half a sandwich with a cup of chowder. This is an order at the counter kind of place; in fact, they also sport a drive-​up window.
We found the staff very personable and helpful. There was a down-​home kind of feel to the place. The tables also hosted some local color. (By that, I mean very loud talkers.)
The sandwich that arrived — the «Spicy Pilgrim» — was very tasty. But, it was also very small. And by that, I mean teeny, tiny. It was maybe four inches long with a baguette-​diameter bun. Now, I know that our collective idea of normal portion sizes for a «half-​sandwich» has been warped by the chain stores, with their six-​inch monster buns crammed with fillings.
This was small by any standard. SMALL! small!
The chowder was, well, unremarkable. Okay tasting, but nothing special. Kind of yellowish. There’s a remark! Anyway, it didn’t make any real impression. The portion size on the soup was about what we expected.
When we try The Soup Bowl again, we will see if my little sandwich was the standard size they serve. Maybe the next trip will allow us to add a star or two. (We’re struggling now, as there seems to be a huge difference between the statements that come with two or three stars on the rating system.)
One question for the staff: Where do you buy those killer plastic spoons? I want some!

I ordered the Tomato Bisque and a half meatloaf sandwich. My sister ordered salad and the Spicy Pilgrim.

Overall, I didn’t dig the food, and it’s a place you go to eat. It looks like I’m in the minority, because this place has great reviews. So, I guess it just wasn’t my thing. My sister liked it a little bit better than I did.

I stopped here on my way to Canada. It was a cozy and friendly place. The owner’s daughter was working and she was really friendly and helpful. The soup was delicious! I am so happy I found this place and got to stop by. Delicious.

My husband and I stopped here on a whim while out for a weekend drive. We were well rewarded for taking a chance here!
We shared the Spicy Pilgrim Sandwich, which was delicious. Nice slices of turkey, crunchy bread that stood up to all the fillings, topped off with a heavenly sauce. My husband had a cup of the Chili, which had nice big pieces of steak and had a lovely smokey flavor. I had a cup of the Split Pea and Ham Soup, which was creamy and thick, with big pieces of roasted ham.
Not only was our lunch great, but the owner (who served us), was so nice and chatted with us while making our lunch. Another plus is that all utensils, napkins, bowls, etc were made of compostable materials.
What a great spot — a small business owner doing a fantastic job here!

Such a nice spot for lunch in Mount Vernon. Close to the high way too, and with a drive through, no reason not to go.
Fresh, local, healthy soup. I have had the tomato bisque and the broccoli cheddar, both fantastic! I got a rueben here as well. It took a little bit longer, and I had to pull forward, as I was in the drive through. I was originally bummed out that my ½ a reuben was on a roll, until I bit into it, the best bread! So good, so freaking good.

The Soup Bowl is awesome! I love the Baked Potato Soup! Super creamy and tasty!
The Reuben Sandwich is my fav! A perfect blend of corned beef and sauerkraut.
The BBQ Pork Sandwich is another fav! It’s so good, they sold out of it a few minutes after we got ours. The BBQ pork just melts in your mouth. It’s that good. The BBQ sauce is perfect, not overpowering.
We will be back for some of their other sandwiches. Or, I might stick with the Reuben…
I’m craving their Reuben Sandwich as I’m finishing off this review! Geesh! Now, I’m hungry…

He was afraid She was going to make him east phó again! She had fantasized about a bowl of soup that was not overly-​salted. He got clam chowder, and She got chicken noodle soup with lots of veggies, and fresh chicken. Unilocal scores again! This shop had just come under new ownership, and deserves to thrive.
