We were visiting the area for a wedding and were looking for a good local restaurant. This is a small, very hometown place. The food was okay, the price was great and the service was top notch!

Great food. Homemade roles, great hamburgers, great French fries. Everything from down home food to great fast food. Now the desert on the other hand I was a bit disappointed. Cherry cobbler was cobbler made with cake mix. More like a dump cake. I am a through and through pie crust cobbler man. That’s the only reason I downed my rating.

Came here to eat mountain oysters and vinegar pie(think pecan pie without the nuts [guess I made up for those with the mountain oysters, lol]). Service is super fast and very friendly. Give this diner a chance and you won’t be disappointed.

The best $ 8 dollar steak and eggs breakfast I have ever had. It was better than any $ 10 steak and eggs breakfast I’VEEVERHAD.

Visited in October & December 2012 Got the lunch special both times. It was very good both times. The waitress & owners went out of their way to warm coffee, bring the corn bread that was accidentally left off, extra sour cream. Our experience was excellent. Took My 100 year Old Grandma here on the October trip! The waitress treated her kindly.

Retired now, my new ‘boss’ and I go out for breakfast 2 – 3 times a week, and we always enjoy eating at Old Tyme. We are always greeted when we enter, the staff is very personable and attentive, and we found the food quality and fast delivery to be very good. Located on the courthouse square, Old Tyme has many local clients, including a long table set up for a gathering of the good ol’ boys town fathers. A fun place, with delicious food, and VERY reasonable prices.

Ok, put Olde Tyme, on the Square on our list of stops in Mountain Home. Just sampled the Vinegar Pie, it would be worth the trip.

So today was my first, and probably last, visit to the Old Tyme Restaurant on the square. I went for lunch with a friend about 11AM. There were quite a few guests seated in the restaurant. The waitress appeared promptly, gave menus, and took drink orders. There was quite a variety of offerings on the menu… burgers, sandwiches, salads, soup, daily specials, etc., and pies. I would say this is a moderately priced eatery. I have no complaints about the service, and the place was clean. The food, on the other hand(at least what I ordered), left much to be desired. I chose a reuben sandwich, which isn’t that difficult to make. Bad mistake. It was disgusting. It came out on a plate with about a dozen french fries by my count. The sandwich was about ¼ inch thick. There wasn’t hardly anything in it. The bread was absolutely drenched in grease or oil… not butter. It was so greasy that it left an big oil slick on the plate. You couldn’t hardly even pick it up. It was awful. If I’d been the cook or owner, I’d would have been embarassed to put it on the plate and send it out to the table, all for only $ 6.99 !! My friend had a club sandwich, which actually looked considerably better than my reuben. He didn’t comment on the quality or taste of it. With drink and tip, I was about $ 10 down going out the door…$ 10 for that mess. I most probably will never return.
