I contacted Sara very close to my due date and she was willing to take me on. I could tell shed be great because of her calm demeanor. Due to some very unfortunate events, she could not be my doula. However she connected me to another doula who was fantastic. Sara is very caring and professional and strived to help me get the birth outcome I wanted even if she couldn’t be there

I have a bit of history with Sara. She was one of the first people that I met when I moved to the Tri-​valley 18 years ago. I’ve always loved her, but this experience allowed us to get to know each other on a deeper level.
I had known that she was a doula for quite some time. I knew that she attended births, but I never realized how involved she is. Sara very thoroughly went over what I may or may not experience physically, medical interventions and how they work, my birth plan, pain management (medication/​natural), and MOST IMPORTANTLY my rights as a patient in the hospital. Up until my visits with her, I wasn’t aware of my rights. Doctors have never spoken to me as if what they wanted to do was just an option; they’re always so matter of fact. After learning so much, I felt empowered to have my baby MY way.
I might have felt a little too confident after working with Sara because I labored at home alone all day lol. She called me often to check on me and always asked if I was ready for her to come over, and I declined because I felt better than I thought I would. She offered to come when I needed her and reminded me of the pain relieving techniques that she had shown me previously. I called her on my way to the hospital and she came right away. She cheered me on and took pictures of our first moments as a family together. She stuck around and held my daughter while I ate my meal.
Postpartum she was also a great resource when my daughter was having issues latching.
I always recommend Sara because she has a way of knowing when to be your friend, mother, or coach. She’s very knowable and the things that she isn’t 100% sure about she will research or connect you with someone who is. I honestly don’t think I would have been as fearless without Sara, but she would never take any credit for all that she has done.

When I got pregnant with my second child I started considering hiring a Doula but to be honest I didn’t think it would be such a significant decision and boy was I wrong. We knew that we wanted a natural and unmedicated birth experience and we wanted a Doula that would help us not only with the labor but also support us every step of the way. I feel very lucky to have found Sara, she is a very caring, professional and supportive. We met with her a few times before the birth where we got to know one another and told her what was important to us for this birth experience. During the last weeks of my pregnancy when things started to get stressed due to the baby being late and the threat of induction she was always available to talk, to listen to my concerns and offer advice and information so that my husband and I could make informed decisions. She was with us during a very intense labor, she coached me through the times when I didn’t think I could keep going, she was great at helping with the horrible back labor. Thankfully I was able to have my daughter without medications and I know I would not have being able to do it with Sara’s support and help. I highly recommend Sara, if I had another child I would gladly have her as my Doula again!

Inviting Sara to help with the birth of our son was absolutely one of the best decisions we ever could have made. I knew even before I got pregnant that it was very important to me to deliver naturally and that I wanted to do everything in my power to make that happen.
The first time we met Sara it felt so comfortable, like we had known her forever. She is so calm, reassuring, and knowledgable. She talked us through all of our options and helped us feel prepared for what we would face at the hospital. She was so patient and supportive during my (very long) labor and helped me to feel confident and strong throughout the entire process. She even grabbed our video camera to film those beautiful first moments that we first met our baby which is something I will be forever grateful for. I can’t imagine what it would have been like if Sara wasn’t there to support my husband and I during the birth of our first baby. There is no doubt in my mind that Sara will be with us for the births of all of our children.

Sara has now attended the births of both of my daughters. The 1^st at Kaiser Antioch in November 2012 and the 2^nd a home birth in January 2015. She is awesome and I know she played a huge roll in me having the births I want. Sara is full of knowledge, she truly loves what she does. I highly recommend her.

Sara was our night doula for the first 7 weeks after our baby girl was born.
Having Sara be part of our family 3 nights a week was a wonderful experience for everyone!
Mom got some much needed rest knowing our newborn was in good hands.

She is very experienced and knowledgeable. No matter how you approach caring for your newborn Sara is supportive and has great advice.
Sara not only made sure baby was well taken care of but also offered advice about breastfeeding and several other questions that come to a moms mind after baby is born!
I felt totally at ease having her at our house. She provided comfort and great care in a very hectic time.

I honestly do not know what I would have done without Sara. She was the best resource throughout my pregnancy with all my questions and is continuing with post partum issues as well. She was present throughout my entire labor and delivery and even visited me at the hospital a couple days later. Sara was so helpful during labor and made sure I was comfortable… my mom and husband were able to relax knowing she was there. This was my first pregnancy and I was scared that the hospital staff would pressure me to have a birth that I was not comfotable with but I felt very confident with Sara there. I highly recommend Sara as your doula!
