I’ve taken the beginner class twice and love it! Amrit is a great instructor! It’s also the best cardio workout you can get. They do a good job of teaching basics to those who have never learned before but still keep it interesting and fun for those who have danced a lot. Highly recommended!

This is a wonderful class. I attended with my wife(not that you need a partner to participate) and enjoyed Poonam’s teaching style. It’s good exercise, you get a chance to meet new people, and have fun in the process. Highly recommend!

This class is great and so is Poonam ! It was a great workout and I appreciated the emphasis on getting the basic steps right. The performance was a blast and we won(yays !).

I took the Mountain View beginner bhangra class with Poonam and had the best time! The beginner class was designed to really teach bhangra in a clear and organized way(to some really awesome bhangra music I might add). The class teaches five 1-minute dances that reinforce the 5 foundational steps of bhangra: 1) steps 2) hops 3) jhummer 4) 123s and 5) kicks. We spent 1 – 2 classes working on each dance — and since they were only 1 minute each, it was very easy to learn! All of the teachers follow a teaching technique where the moves are reinforced a lot, so even if you can’t dance to save your life, if you can walk and hop, you can definitely do bhangra! Poonam is an awesome teacher. She’s patient and always has a bright attitude. She also takes her responsibility as a teacher seriously, so be prepared to get your money’s worth and learn some bhangra! At the end of our session, we had learned 5 dances, so what did we do? All the classes had a friendly dance-off and Bhangra Empire also performed. It was a lot of fun for us, our family and friends who came to watch. All in all, I made some new bhangra friends, got great exercise, and can hold my own at the next bollywood party. :) Keep calm and brrruaah!
