EFBA French Immersion Summer Camp

We are very much looking forward to our 3^rd summer at EFBA summer camp in Mountain View. My son and daughter love this camp, and it has helped them improve their French in notable and lasting ways.

Our two daughters attended 5 weeks of EFBA summer camp. Each week has a different theme and the activities, games, stories and art projects inspire the kids creativity and imagination. For the most part, the counselors come from France. They bring lots of enthusiasm, love playing with the kids and show lots of professionalism in their role of «animateurs». The kids have fun while practicing their French and learn typical French children’ songs! Camp is highly recommended! We will be back next year!

It’s been the second time that our son attends the full six weeks session of the EFBA’s summer camp. Each time, it has been a fantastic experience.
The camp was well organized, the themes and activities are very different every year, and the atmosphere inspires imagination.
The instructors were engaging and fun, warm and energetic; they brought a lot of enthusiasm and were always supportive to the children. Lots of them came directly from France for the summer. Our son blossomed around them and he had a real connection with the other French kids. He was very happy to be able to speak his mother tongue all day, his vocabulary has gowned as well as his self-​confidence.
I highly recommend this camp.
We will definitely be back again next year!

My 10 year old doesn’t know much French, but LOVES this summer camp. She has learned some French language and the French culture and songs through camp. It is pretty structured and engaging which is awesome for her. My 7 year old was fluent in Spanish from her preschool years, but has caught on and enjoyed the French camp as well. This was her first year. This is the second year for my 10 year old.

When my 10 year old, French-​born, difficult to please bilingual son begged me to enroll him in another week of EFBA’s camp to this summer, I knew EFBA was doing many things right. After moving to the area last year and going «French free» last summer due to the move, work, et cetera, my 10 year old agreed that he HAD to keep his French active this summer or entering 5^th grade at ISTP would be needlessly difficult. We thus agreed he’d attend two weeks of his choosing at EFBA. After the second day, he told me that I had to enroll him in another week, no matter what, no matter the theme. (Each week of EFBA camp is a different theme.) Both of my kids, will be first grader/​6 year old girl and 10 year old son, rave about all EFBA staff and all of the activities. (My 10 year has complained a bit about the hour of «real» work, which is also a good sign!) The young adults «imported» from France for camp, combined with the dedicated EFBA «local» staff regularly go above and beyond to not only immerse the kids in French, but truly engage them in creative, varied activities. Like my son, I, too, am difficult to please. I’ve seen just way too many summer camps charge far too much in exchange for what they actually do for one’s children. EFBA does just the opposite, i.e. EFBA undercharges for the value it provides, especially considering that all activities are in French and (I was told by a French mom I met at camp on a.m.) nearly identical to what one’s children would do if they attended summer camp in France. I’m a non-​French speaker committed to raising two bilingual children who has moved due to work, and have thus had my kids in three different French-​American schools. Thus, I have at least some perspective re: same. Simply put, I wholeheartedly and unequivocally recommend EFBA’s summer camp. It’s an excellent way to keep my kid’s French active during the summer at a remarkably reasonable price. The only thing that might better achieve this goal (depending on the family!) would be sending one’s children to France for the summer. Since have no family in France, I’m sticking with EFBA!

Our young boys attended those camps this year and everyone liked it. The full immersion program make our kids practice French in a fun setting. The staff is amazing and fun loving with a low child/​organizer ratio. They host a different theme every week with various creative activities, games, stories and art projects on the subject, which allows you to pick depending on the interests of your child. Our 6-​year old loves it!

My daughter spent an amazing summer in the EFBA French Immersion Summer Camp. She made so many friends, we’re going to have a full house for her birthday party in Fall. She enjoyed all the themes explored week after week, but especially the last one: «kermesse gauloise».
With so many talented French speaking adults interacting with her, she now has no problem to switch to French. Amazingly at home she now starts to speak French to her siblings. A first in seven years! And the older ones prompted in French follow through! Hourra! French language is coming back to my household. Thank you EFBA French Immersion Summer Camp!

We are very happy to announce that EFBA will launch its first summer camp beginning this June: 6 weeks of summer vacation in France… transplanted in the Silicon Valley from June 18^th-​July 27^th!
