It was a very busy Saturday evening when I went into El Compa… Even so, the service was fast and friendly and we didn’t have to wait long for our food. Chips and salsa were really good and the margarita’s were fabulous. My dinner was delicious and came with a large portion… very reasonable priced as well. The family that owns the restaurant are a very hard working and friendly family and I will definitely plan on stopping by if I am ever in the area again. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to anybody looking for reasonably priced, delicious food and margaritas:)

A pleasant surprise in Mountain View, MO. Tasty, but not overly spiced food. Always good quality and friendly, fast service. We stop for lunch, whenever we pass through Mountain View, never disappointed.

Excellent food and excellent service. Very clean place and quick service. The burrito ranchero and fried ice cream were both top of the line! We will definitely be back.

Okay food, but I am spoiled by my grandma’s homemade cooking. The waitress was wonderful, friendly and remembered everything. The chips were thin and crisp and warm, very good, just the way we like them. The first salsa had nice flavor but did not hit the heat level we enjoy. So we asked for the hotter version most Mexican restaurants keep in back and it was a nice Verde sauce with a kick. Home run on the Verde sauce! I also ordered the guacamole and was not disappointed. My husband thought it was store bought, but I think it was good either way. Not salty or over done with extras. I had the chili relleno and tamale combo. The tamale was 95% masa and they poured the same mole ground beef sauce over both the tamale and chili relleno. The chili relleno was on the small side but it was decent. My husband had the Pork Carnitas dish and the portion was large(literally 3 ½ «cubes) browned on the outside and super dry on the inside. If they shredded it and put it into a verde sauce it would have been really good. The beans seemed to be out of a can(we guessed Rosa Rita), and the rice was plain on both dishes. Honestly it wasn’t great but the service really made up for it. Besides I wanted to sit down and enjoy a meal I did not cook. I may say it did not wow me, but I will go back here when I want to sit and enjoy the service. I will guess the food is good for the location, but I am off to try another in West Plains next. We will see how they stand up to each other.

This is a brand new sit down mexican restuarant in the tiny town of Mountain View, MO. It was a mexican restaurant previously, but has re-opened with new owners. The owners are Vietnamese, which makes it all the more interesting! In this area of southern Missouri, this is by far the best Mexican food you are going to get your hands on. It’s made from scratch, and has a good authentic feel to the place. it’s dirt cheap too! I would recommend going with a meat based dish, as the vegetarian spinich enchiladas I had were not that great, but what I tasted of everyone elses food was really good. The beans and rice are what you would hope for from a hole in the wall mexican place. On Sundays they have free soda. They also had lots of flyers up for upcoming holidays and special events, so you might want to call to ask about those. They do not have a website or phone that I could find at this time.
