Didn’t realize this place was closed — what a shame. It was a good place to go to in DT Mountain View for happy hour. I loved that there was a serve yourself popcorn machine in the middle of the restaurant, as it was a super unique addition.

Officially and suddenly CLOSED this week. Have to say the polish and promise I reported here from early days wasn’t always followed up. Something necessary for success was missing at this restaurant, my main complaints were about kitchen execution but I don’t know what the core problem was. Several other restaurants nearby — within easy walk — are doing other eclectic or creative menus, but unlike Mixx they’re executing with pretty consistent polish, and the public, in turn, responds. Downgrading to 2.5 after trying some drinks, which were awful! Do NOT try their«perfect» aged Manhattan, which tasted literally like water and for some reason had bubbles in it!!! The color was even completely off — it really did look like it was half water. Same w old-fashioned, which had so much ice it also was undrinkable. Only safe thing to do was start drinking my bourbon neat there. We also had pretty bad service on the last visit… Even with almost no one else in the lounge, we kept waiting 30+ minutes for drink orders and even for our waiter to bring utensils for one of our party. I ended up getting up and grabbing them myself so she didn’t have to sit and watch everyone else eat! Disappointing, as this place h some definite potential.

Wonderful place. I came here for a team lunch, so got to try lot of items from the menu. I wasn’t disappointed with any of the items that I tried. In the appetizers the ahi tuna is a bomb and brussel sprouts is pretty good too. I also tried crab cakes and calamari and both were good as well. For the entrée, I tried the pastrami ruben sandwich with couscous salad, it was very nice too. The portions are quite large, almost everyone in my team had a to-go box when we left. We also tried the banana mixx and three layer chocolate cake for dessert. Dessert portions are huge as well, it seriously made me wonder if anyone can have a single portion all by themself. Overall a great place, very neat and nice décor. The service was good as well. Plenty of parking behind the restaurant.

My co-worker found this place and we decided to give it a try for HH. I have mixed feelings about this place. First, we ordered our drinks at the bar when we got there. The bartender seemed to be overwhelmed with people’s drink orders. I overheard someone say it was her 1st or 2nd day on the job, so I’ll give her a pass. What was strange was after she made our four drinks and we were about to pay, she told us to hold on while she took another couple’s drink order. Wouldn’t it be make sense to have us pay for our drinks before serving someone else? Anyways, it was a nice day and we decided to eat outside. We decided to order food from the HH menu: Steak Tips — not bad. The skewers of steak were juicy and seasoned well. Not overcooked. You get 6 to an order. Burger Slider — 3 sliders per order. Nothing special to it. Meat, lettuce, and mayo sauce. Brussel Sprouts — The best thing we ordered. Had a nice crunch, not burnt. I would definitely recommend this. I can probably eat 2 orders to myself. Chicken Quesadilla — I didn’t get a chance to try this, but the quesadilla looked soggy and not very appealing. It came with a side of guacamole. Bronx Pastrami Board — For $ 15, I would pass on this. It wasn’t really anything special. Few pieces of bread, swiss cheese, picked veggies, and pastrami. I personally thought it was a little overpriced Fries — Fries were good. Strangely, we got this last. The food came out fairly quickly. The wait staff was attentive. Just don’t order alcohol drinks because we waited about 10 – 15 minutes each time for our drinks to come out. I would try this place again, but I think there are other better places in Mountain View to eat/drink for HH.

I have been waiting to go to this place since the elite event that I missed quite a few weeks ago, and I left pretty disappointed. The pictures of the food look SO good, but the flavor and taste of it seemed a bit dull. I went with my buddy for happy hour(best part about this place is that it has happy hour everyday… including Saturday!) We ordered a ton of the happy hour plates: fried brussel sprouts, tri tip skewers, spicy thai fish tacos, pretzel with white cheddar, and the pork belly sliders. The fried brussel sprouts were AMAZING! If you do try this place out, these are a MUSTGET! The tri tip skewers were tender and more flavorful than the other plates we tried. The spicy thai fish tacos, surprisingly, were not as satisfying as I had anticipated. On someone’s review for mixx that I read before I came, they mentioned that these were better than the vietnamese tacos from Xanh down the street. I call BS. They only tasted like the thick jalapenos that came in the taco… not worth the buy. The pretzel was free(because I checked in on Unilocal) and it was pretty good, but it was also greasy. I enjoyed it… salted perfectly. I just didn’t eat much because those can be filling, and I was trying to taste test all the other dishes. Now I have come to the pork belly sliders… the WHOLE reason I drove all the way to Mountain View in the first place. A complete disappointment. The bun was overwhelming and took over all the flavors that were in the pork belly. I don’t recommend this plate. Another disappointment was the prices. For the amount of food that you got, it was a little high in cost. Happy Hour made that a tad better, so if you come, be sure to go during them. I always like to leave on a positive note. I thoroughly enjoyed the service. The hostess greeted me at the door and was super friendly. She answered all my questions and told me about happy hour, etc. My server was a new guy(he told me), and he was GREAT! He was very attentive and continuously came over to the table to check on us. When I had asked him a question about the menu, he wasn’t too sure what the answer was, so he went and found someone that did. He even had a little pep in his step to make sure I got my answer as fast as possible. Overall, he made my experience much better. p. s. they had a chicken and waffles entrée(for entirely too much. I think it was $ 23). Wish I had gotten it, though, because I don’t think I will be back!

Just got done eating at this establishment. My wife and I went for happy hour on a Saturday night which is awesome b/c a lot of places don’t even offer happy hour during the weekends. That being said, we went to town on the steak tip skewers which had some fresh pico de gallo covered on top. We also ordered some beef burger sliders, spicy thai fish tacos as well as some fresh french fries and lets not forget the fried brussel sprouts! All of the appetizers were equally delicious. The fries were a little on the thick side yet the chef was able to make them very crispy. The beef tip skewers were extremely tender, which based on my experience at other places can be overcooked. Our waiter was extremely polite and it made for a great Saturday night outside on the patio with great weather.

I have«mixed» feelings about this place. And, the pun is intended. We came here for a late dinner after my daughter’s graduation from middle school. While perusing the menu, I came to discover it was part of Max’s restaurant. That seemed like a good thing as they are a fixture up here in the Bay Area. They serve consistently good food at a fair price. This restaurant was very accommodating when I made the reservation for 11 people. That had me curious as it’s normally like«pulling teeth» when it comes to large parties. In fact, i spoke to them a day before the reservation to let them know we might be a larger group. They did not hesitate in letting me know it would be ok. So, i’m now very curious as to why this is so. Well, the restaurant was not very crowded this Friday which concerned me. After reviewing the menu, I believe I know why. While the food is ok to good, the restaurant seems to lack some refinement. Service can be slow at times and appear frazzled. Raul took very good care of us but I somehow sensed the rest of the wait staff was under some kind of pressure. The food was both eclectic(chicken and waffles with peppercorn sauce?) and familiar(the pastrami tasted just like it did at Max’s). And it was a bit on the pricey side. The small portioned appetizers were just not worth the price. The entrees were portioned well but on the expensive. I mean, $ 23 for Chicken and Waffles? Really? Will I be going back? Hmmm…

A friend & I decided to try Mixx for lunch. We sat out on their lovely sidewalk dining area. Their menu was large enough to satisfy most palates(at least for lunch). Their drink menu looked really good, but alas, I had to go back to work. I opted for an iced tea which was delicious & the size is bigger than most restaurants serve. Free refills made me happy. For food, I went with the Thai shrimp salad. My lunch companion had the Vermont cheddar bacon burger + a fried egg. He seemed pretty excited about it. Our server was prompt & brought bread to start us off. Nice sourdough bread & butter. Our dishes arrived & my salad was bigger than anticipated — no complaints there. His burger made me wished I had ordered the burger. My only real complaint is the salad was grossly overdressed. Like drenched in sauce. At the end of our meal, he seemed more satisfied than I. Neither of us was jumping for joy and considered it an adequate meal. I think I would give them another chance to try out their cocktail & dinner menu.

I honestly thought that Mixx was going to fall under the curse that has seized a lot of restaurants occupying this space right next to the famous Cascal such as Cantankerous Fish and Scott’s Seafood. However, after coming here for dinner, I really have high hopes for this place. When I first looked at the menu on the website, I have to admit, I was really confused. It reminded me of the menu of Scratch across the street: not really put together and a little all over the place. They have classic American dishes such as burgers, salads, fish, steak, and pork chops, but they also have shepherd’s pie(which I got and I will elaborate further later in this review), fish-n-chips, and fried chicken and waffles… dishes that didn’t really fit in with the menu. Personally, I am not a big fan of menus like this one that don’t really have a sense of consistency, HOWEVER, I will say that all the dishes, in spite of the aforementioned problem, did LOOK good. Therefore, I put this place on my bucket list. There was a Unilocal Elite event here showcasing their cocktails, for which I got an invite to attend. It was then that I learned that this place has specialty cocktails, which instantly draws me to any restaurant. Unfortunately, I did not RSVP in time for the Elite event, but now I really wanted to try this place. I ended up coming with my mom and we ordered the Brussel sprouts as an appetizer, which was AMAZING. Seriously, this dish will make you love Brussel sprouts if you did not before. I got the Shepherd’s Pie and I am very picky about my Shepherd’s pie and it was delicious. I devoured the entire dish completely and let me tell you, it was not a small dish. For dessert, we got the cobbler, which was good, but a little too big for my taste. I don’t like rich desserts to come in huge servings, but that’s just me. As for the drinks, the cocktails I originally wanted were out and I couldn’t get them, which might turn off some people, but these were made using liquor that was aged in barrels for multiple days, which I appreciate as a bartender, so I didn’t hold it against them. I don’t remember the names, but I tried two other cocktails off the menu(rum-based) and they were delicious. I was happy with my experience and will definitely be back: great food and great drinks. I definitely would recommend coming here even just for a happy hour. You won’t be disappointed at all!

Came with a friend to catch up over drinks and HH and wasn’t disappointed but also wasn’t blown away. Started our meals with a blackberry mojito for me and a pisco paloma for my friend… pretty generous sized tumblers… with a very generous serving of ice. Watered down cocktails are no fun. But they were pretty… For our entrees, we ordered off the HH menu. I had the pastrami platter cause I have a love affair with pastrami reubens and my friend had the fried brussel spouts and fish nuggets. The pastrami platter was interesting. It’s comparable to deconstructed tea sandwiches. The seedy mustard was different, adding that fancy touch(if you will) but I found the pastrami to be a little dry for my liking. They give enough to create 4 tea sandwiches, or 8 open faced mini’s. My friend seemed to enjoy her fish nuggets. Pieces varied between salmon and other white fish. The brussel sprouts however were too sweet for her liking… went a little overboard with the apple maple, I guess. Finished off our meal with a fantasy cake courtesy of Unilocal. This cake 3 layers — one of cheesecake, one of chocolate fudge, and one of chocolate cake… all wrapped in chocolate fondant. And yes, it is as rich as it sounds…3 bites maximum… even for this chocolate lover. They need to cut it with some tart fruit(raspberry or passion fruit maybe). Wasn’t too busy for a Saturday night and there really was no rush to have us leave. We sat around for a fair amount of time before leaving… about 2.5 hours from start to finish. $ 42 for everything, not bad. Sitting outside was also very comfy… heated lamps if needed, turned on by preference.

Great service, good drinks; nice size of space. Staff friendly and helpful. We only ordered dessert and drinks and one appetizer, so when we come back will try other options. Note — friend made a reservation for a weeknight and when we showed up they couldn’t find it … odd. I agree with Sam T – name and logo are odd, don’t convey the menu or the scene. I would never have come here on my own if looking on Unilocal just based on the logo or walking down the street; a friend had to direct me here and I evaluated the menu and the photos more closely before reluctantly deciding to give it a shot. Looks like it’s going to be a sports bar(Sports Page?!) PS — Desserts were pretty mediocre. Especially the flambé, as noted in other reviews. I ended up ordering deviled eggs cuz the sweets just weren’t satisfying, and liking those more. :)

Service in this place is a bit slow. I ordered the soup and salad and checked in for my free fantasy cake or pretzel. I chose the cake to take home. Pass on that. It was overly sweet and not one layer of it was good(it is layered with cheesecake, chocolate mousse, chocolate cake and fudge). The soup was a butternut squash soup and was topped with pumpkin seeds. It was delicious. For the salad, I chose the couscous arugula salad. It was good, but gets boring after a few bites. I’m not sure I would come back with all the other options around.

Girl’s night out and we decided to try Mixx. Not very crowded since it was on a Sunday night. We were greeted at the door. Tasty cocktails. We ordered several starters: Pork Belly Bao Sliders, Deviled Eggs and BaconFish N Chips Bites. All flavorful and delicious. For my main course I had the Cedar Plank Maple Glazed Wild Salmon. Salmon was excellent. I will be back!

BRUSSELSSPROUTS. All you need to know, is the brussels sprouts. They’re so good that we ordered a second portion. The inside and the outside don’t really match– the outside sign looks like that of a night club– neon sign in funky colors, and the inside looks more like a steak restaurant/parlor/library. There were 4 of us and we ordered a BUNCH of the small plates. My favorite was(obviously) the brussels sprouts and the macaroni was pretty awesome. I wa NOT a fan of the pork bun sliders(nasty sauce), the fish tacos just weren’t for me, and the spare ribs were ok but not great. I also loved that they had a popcorn machine were you could go serve yourself popcorn with a couple of different flavored toppings. I would come back to this place solely for the brussels sprouts and all of the happiness that they brought me.

Decent food, good ambiance, nice quick service. The peppercorn hamburger tasted great and was cooked perfectly medium(moist but not pink). Bun was a little large for meat patty, but patty size was still generous. The asian slaw side tasted ok, but was swimming in dressing. The pastrami hash tasted a little bland, but the accompanying sweet fancy ketchup made it better. Free bread is tasty. Fresh brewed iced tea was decent and refilled. Chef cooked the wrong burger(I’d ordered the bacon and pimento cheese burger), but i just decided to eat the one that was delivered. Waitress offered to make it right and brought out a slice of cheese upon request. I wouldn’t mind returning, but i’d probably opt to try a new place, given the choice.

During a date night weekend we found Mixx online as a hot new restaurant that had great reviews. So last night we had an amazing evening and dinner at the bar. Arturo, the bartender, is so attentive even though he was so busy with his bartending duties. He quickly made us a couple of cocktails and recommended the crab dip with chips — yummy! For dinner Arturo described the Sole on Risotto and he had my mouth watering. I even took a photograph. The fish was so moist and wonderful. My husband had the Cioppino and he said it was the best that he has ever had in his life. Mixx has a new program of barrel aged cocktails and it is led by Madison Fraser. We met her and learned about the process. Crazy good and we tried the Manhattan which knocked our socks off. And on top of everything else they serve DAOU Cabernet by the glass which is our absolute favorite wine. We had a wonderful evening and wish we lived closer because we would certainly be back more often. We will be back!

One of my favorite restaurants in downtown Mountain View! This is a fairly new restaurant that opened up on Castro so I came to give it a try during Restaurant Week! I ordered the caesar salad, pork chop, and the bananas mixx. The caesar salad is exactly what you would expect but with anchovies and the portion is big enough for 2 to share. The pork chop came with roasted mustard potatoes and braised red cabbage. I’m not sure what the sauce was but everything tasted AMAZING together. I would definitely order this dish again. As for the bananas mixx dessert, I really enjoy bananas fosters so I figured this would be similar but there was too much alcohol in the sauce for my taste. The presentation was very unique — they light the dessert on fire when they serve it to you, but I don’t think I would order it again. Overall, the food here is delicious and this would be a great place to take your date!

I had a good first experience at Mixx considering they recently opened. Open Table doesn’t allow you to reserve a table for more than 6, but they can definitely accommodate you if you walk in. We were seated in the game room and I liked that we could get as loud as we wanted. We had the lamb sliders and the pork belly bao sliders. They were both really really good! I’m not sure if the HH portions are different but the lamb meatballs were on the tiny side. In one of the pics you can see that it takes up less than half of the bun. It was tasty, but I had too much bun at the end. the baos were very saucy, just the way I like them! M preferred the baos over the lamb. I tried the Paloma drink and I wasn’t impressed. The description said it had strawberry(although it wasn’t the main ingredient) and I was disappointed that it had no hints strawberry. Luckily, my friend liked it a lot and finished it for me. The blackberry mojito was better. I prefer my fruity drinks more fruity. not Mixx’s fault. Right before HH was ending, I was anxious to get our server’s attention. She was helping the table behind us and they had a lot of questions. The manager saw that I wanted something and came over to get our HH drink orders in. I didn’t get his name, but I was so so appreciative that he took the time to do that. That simple acknowledgement will keep me coming back.

After attending a lunch time soft opening preview, I am excited about the future of Mixx! We were offered a menu that consisted of a handful of different items. We tried one of the appetizers(Creamy Crab dip with house made salt & vinegar chips!) and we both got our own main for lunch. The beau chose their Chicken Pot Pie, while I gobbled down the Seared Ahi Chopped Salad. We also got to try one of the sides which was a creamy kale au gratin type deal which was super delicious. Just from the preview I definitely think I’ll be back to check out the full dinner menu in the future. The staff was friendly and everyone seemed pretty excited about the opening.
