Dr. Hay correctly diagnosed my condition(Dupuytren’s Disease), gave me 3 options, I elected no. 3, surgery, scheduled several weeks later. Surgery less than 1 hour, at his office, back in a week to remove bandages, fantastic! He made what was fairly debilitating, go away fairly simply. Great guy, great manner, I highly recommend him!

I too visited Dr. Hay for a continuing problem, my hands going slightly numb at times. It seems that I have something like carpal tunnel syndrome in my wrist. Dr. Hay was very professional and what I liked was he took the time to explain what my problem was and what was going on in terms that I could understand. He gave me a shot of Cortisone which seemed to help to a degree but he said that if the shot doesn’t work I I might need surgery. It seems my many years of boxing has come back to haunt me. Dr. Hay will be the person to do that surgery if that can’t be avoided. I Recommend him highly.

I impacted my knuckle 4 months ago and it is still sore. Went looking for a hand specialist in the Bay Area and, being an engineer-making a spreadsheet of the pros and cons of a dozen candidates, settled on Dr Hay and went to the Palo Alto Medical Foundation. I arrived 15 minutes early, spoke to the receptionist who handed me paperwork to fill out. I just got out my pen when they called me and I went into an exam room. The assistant screened me and 2 minutes later Dr. Hay came in and we spoke for about 15 minutes as he examined my hand and decided on x-rays so he left the room and an x-ray tech knocked on the door one minute later, took me to the machine(just a couple of doors down), took the images, escorted me back to the office, Dr Hay came back in and we looked at the images and discussed his theory(tore a ligament attached to the knuckle, it has healed but the residual scar tissue and swelling is problematic) as to my ailment, agreed on a course of action(a cortisone shot), and 10 minutes later I was back out at the front desk checking out. From getting out of and back into my car took LESS than one hour… amazing. The staff were very friendly all around, I was never rushed with Dr Hay and felt like we completely discussed everything we needed to discuss and covered all the bases. As far as my experience goes everything was great. Update October 2013 — 2 weeks after the initial shot all was well and my knuckle problem has never come back to date. Update Oct 2015 — the shot didn’t last, opted for surgery to re-attach the tendon, took a good 6 months to recover and was very aggressive with post-surgery exercises. Bummer caz I couldn’t play guitar for a while. Though I can feel it is a little tighter than my other hand, the strength is back(and now stronger than my dominant hand which is surprising) and it functions as it did just as well as before the injury. Very satisfied a year after the surgery.
