I’ve been here like 5 times, best lunch buffet I’ve ever had in the bay. Quite a lot of options! Consistent in quality and taste, i find the food very brilliant. They have lotus seed gravy which is amazing, the vegetarian thali is worth the money! I absolutely love this place! The wait times can be a lot during the dinner hours though. And the service is slower when is crowded, but i guess that’s expected

What a fun Sunday brunch experience to open up the New Year. This was recommended by an Indian friend, and it did not disappoint. After being seated, we headed to the mouth dropping array of brunch buffet choices. There is something for everybody. And for me, after sampling the board, I particularly enjoyed the lamb curry, the butter chicken, tandoori chicken, and fish curry. Exceptionally priced — $ 14.95 for weekend brunch buffet on Saturdays and Sundays — when considering the tender love and care that went into the buffet dishes. Where they make up for the buffet price, is through the diner’s beverage order. Still, the overall price per person, under $ 25, makes this restaurant a no-brainer.

I guess I went in there with higher expectations given that it looked fancier and was on the higher side of Indian restaurants. The place was nice, the service great and the food good, although not something very great or different. We enjoyed the the soufiya paneer tikka. The avocado jhalmuri had no sign of avocado and was more like a bhel puri with all its chutneys as opposed to a jhalmuri. The lychee-based cocktail was yummy!

I made reservation for 2. We reach the restaurant. The restaurant was almost empty at lunch time(see attached picture). We ask hostess for our reservation and she wouldn’t sit us down. She insisted that we sit on a table with only 2 chairs since other tables were for 4 guests and she made us wait till the 2 chair table became available. She made us stand there for 15 mins while figuratively the entire restaurant was empty. WORSTCUSTOMERSERVICE. Would never go there again.

. Try this place! Sooooooo good! Samosas were crispy and soft. The chicken masala was creamy and spicy. One of the better Indian good places over ever eaten at.

Very average food. It is supposed to be a fine dine restaurant but the food is not so impressive. I would say its just as good as any other Indian restaurant I have been to. I will take one star off for that. And another for the service. They take abnormally long time to serve.

Very good and tasty Indian cuisine. I am not fond of spicy and I was very pleased that I had an entrée that didn’t make me cry. However, my friends had their fiery dishes. We were all happy with the food, staff and ambience!

Delicious food but pretty pricey for what you get. Not sure it’s worth the price. We had a Groupon, but still went way over and had to pay a lot @ the restaurant(We only got 1 appetizer, 2 entrees, 2 beers).

Was excited to try this place out but never got the chance to try the food. The hostess sat my sister and i in the back and literally left us there. No menus, no water, no nothing. After waiting 15 minutes for someone, anyone to greet us we decided to get up and walk out. As we were leaving there were no I’m sorries or anything. The service was beyond terrible and we were treated quite rudely.

The food is delicious, the wait staff is very polite and attentive. This place is always a joy. This place has the most eclectic decorations ever. I think the should get an award for the most types of tile used in a non-tile retail store. But I love the hodge podge.

I did enjoy the roti and paneer. I hated the tandoori :(Unfortunately, the people who served us seemed to be extremely rude. I would not suggest this place for two reasons : 1.Service sucks ! 2.How could you go wrong in making a vegetable tandoori and still run a restaurant? How is that even possible? !

Went to Sakoon for their weekend buffet. Food score: 4.5 Chaat station was large — with 4 chaats and 2 chaat salads(including a live chaat counter). The chick pea cutlet was good — the filling was consistent without any lumps and had the right level of spice and flavor. The live chaat station was good too. Pakoras were fresh and crisp. The veggie entrees were all really good particularly the phool makhana saag and the mix vegetables chettinad. The Punjabi kadhi was a bit of a let down though because the pakoras were undercooked. But the home run was the rice(both the plain and biryani) and the desserts. You could taste just a hint of saffron and cumin in each bite of the rice without being overwhelming. The biryani too was delectable without being spicy. The décor was Upscale but it was noisy, very noisy and the service, while courteous could have been friendlier — hence the overall score of 4. There were three indian desserts — kheer, ras malai and gulab jamun. The latter two were worth second helpings.

I have been to Sakoon for both lunch buffet and regular dinner, and have enjoyed both. My Indian friends all come here and highly approve of this restaurant, so the food much be legit. With large groups, one can request a table upstairs in their lounge. It seats up to 32 people. We had a group of 16 on a Saturday night and had the entire lounge to ourselves. The restaurant is fairly big, so it is relatively easy to book for large tables. Some of my favorite items here: * Avocado Jhalmuri: rice puffs and avocado tossed with mix of onion, tomato, mint and tamarind bouquet * Tandoori Triple Play: combination of grilled lamb chop, chicken tikka, and shrimp * Goat Biryani: rice baked in sealed pot * Kesrai Chenna Malai: cheese nuggets dessert in saffron flavored cream sauce * Stuffed Gulab Jamun: Saffron and nuts stuffed cheese dumplings soaked in honey rose syrup * The Guru Cocktail: St. Germain Liquor, Moet & Chandon champagne, lychee nectar, citrus twists I agree with the reviewer Abby S. about the whole«mouthgasm» thing!

Went for dinner with my husband and friends on Saturday night, the restaurant was not that busy. The flavor in panch paneer tikka was awesome, bread basket which had three varieties of Naan in it like Garlic Naan, Rosemary Naan, Lacha paratha was good. Panner peshawari was delicious. Sizzlers OMG the taste was really out of world!!! Great food, nice ambiance and on the whole had an enjoyable and fine dining!!!

It was our 2nd time visiting together(Me & the hubby) and this time joyfully with friends. Sakoon is a popular Indian restaurant, one of the sort after places for it’s elegant and beautiful ambience. It’s located in the downtown corridor of Mountain view, at the Castro street. We were extremely pleased with the service we’ve received so far. Staff at the front desk were warm and welcoming. The attendant who served us was friendly and helpful too. Well, after almost a year visited the place again, strangely and surely feel something different this time particularly when it comes to their food(My rating as of last year would’ve been 4 stars, for sure). We started with a cold drink ‘Tropical Breeze’, which is a mango flavored juice(Good, but can’t say I’m a big fan of it). Vegetarian picks, # From Appetizer, we chose Panch Poran Paneer Tikka($ 11.9) — Good again, not as tasty as I’ve felt great elsewhere. Although Paneer(cottage cheese) was cooked well with justly soft touch. # From Vegetarian Entrée, we selected Paneer Peshawari($ 17.9) — I would say this is a very expensive item for the quantity we were offered. Portion size was small and it was neither super rich and creamy nor traditionally flavorful. # Breads, we went for Bread Basket($ 14) — Three different varieties of breads, Lachcha Paratha, Garlic Naan & Rosemary Naan. I’ve dined-in at places where I can clearly distinguish between the tasteful flavor of each variety. Unfortunately, I couldn’t do here as every bread tasted almost the same and clearly, not distinct. On top of it, breads were not served Hot, they were just lukewarm. Although on the better side, breads were soft and fluffy. Lastly, we had Sizzlers(not sure about the price), which was a great savior of the entire lot, honestly! It’s a mix of veggies and pineapple fruit, just loved it! It was the right choice made by one of our friend, helped me to revive at least before leaving. It was a Saturday night, but the spot was not as busy as one might expect it would be during weekends. Definitely, the seating area is large and can host big groups. There is a separate party kinda room, all the way down the hall and the rest rooms can be found right next to the party room. Parking tip, There is a separate private parking lot at the back of the restaurant, but it’l be tightly packed most times. If you’re not lucky to find a good parking space there, go ahead finding a legal street parking. Again, might take longer time if the street is fully packed. Might sneak peek here again to check how they do at a later point in time and will update my rating accordingly.

Very bland Sides: Bread basket: really liked the laccha paratha Onion kulcha: good Tandoori roti– a little tough

This is a lovely place to have your dinner after a stroll in down town Mountain View. The food is of good quality, the Malai Kofta is out of this world! You will be lucky, if you get a seating in the front; the back side tables are not up to standards. The service is good. The rest room could have been maintained better.

My man planned for a low-key Valentine’s Day… indian food for Valentine’s Day!!! yeah. so random. but I’ve been teasing him about eating indian food so he thought this would be a «surprise»… and yes, I was surprised that he took me here! Anyway, the restaurant is certainly a lot fancier than most indian restaurants I’ve been to… the patrons are mostly white, the decors scream«fine ® dining» …certainly not the usual Indian restaurant. Service was friendly and polite but a bit on the slow side and not always consistent. We had our reservation early(6PM) so the restaurant was only 1⁄3 full when we arrived but it filled up quickly a few minutes after we sat down. Thankfully, we did place our order before the crowds started to flock in as I noticed that service was getting slower and inconsistent as the crowds are getting merrier. Fiancé’s soda only got refilled when waiter was flagged… and so was my water. I also noticed that a few tables nearby got a bit anxious as they sat for a while before receiving their food. We ordered the sakoon samosa, a lamb curry dish, and chicken tikka masala along with one naan and one order of plain rice to share. Certainly there was enough food for both of us and we were glad that we didn’t decide to order more as it would have been too much(even though we are big eaters). Chicken tikka masala was not as creamy as what I’ve had but was still very flavorful. The chicken meat had the tandoori smokey flavor which I really like and they even threw in some bell pepper in the curry. I never had this at other restaurants. Lamb curry was also good and but both curries had very similar flavors except the chicken curry had slightly sweeter sauce. I didn’t care for the shredded fresh ginger that was sprinkled on top of the lamb curry though… but it was probably just me. Each entrée cost around $ 15-$ 20 depending on what you get. certainly a premium price for indian food but this is a nicer looking restaurant so the price matches the décor and ambiance. However, no matter how fancy you want to present an indian restaurant. the place still smells like curry and you might smell like curry too once you finish eating hahaha! For Valentine’s day they gave a single red rose to the female diners which I thought was a nice gesture :) Good food but knowing that I could get cheaper same quality delicious indian food nearby with lower price… Sakoon is probably not going to be my go to indian restaurant(sorry, just being honest!)…I guess it comes down to what you are really looking for. If you want to impress someone and making a point that you’re «cultured»… this maybe a good place to go to.
