When it comes to sushi, our family goes nowhere else. The fish is always fresh and the sushi isn’t made ahead, but prepared when ordered. From miso soup, gyoza appetizer, tempura shrimp/vegetables, sushi, teriyaki dishes, and desserts, we never leave disappointed. Our favorite sushi is their Ebi Crunch roll. The chefs and servers are polite and accommodating. Great customer service here. Friday and Saturday nights get busy, but its usually a short wait for a table.

We’ve been coming here for a few years and the food has been tasty and the service kind. The sashimi has been very good, always fresh with generous-sized pieces. Bento boxes and entrées are fairly consistently good. One of the dishes I particularly enjoy there is the spicy chicken. While I like my spicy food spicier, the flavor of the sauce is so good, I have no complaints. That particular dish is also a generous portion size. It is very busy during the lunch hour, a testament to the restaurant, so we come as soon as they open.

The quality is great, everything taste really good here. My son loves the kids’ menu, specially the Steak teriyaki. I love the bay scallops. Now, keep in mind the place is small and it does get packed so the wait can be long at times. I do believe you can make reservation so I strong encourage that. The service is not the best but then again it seems that is the usual way. :-(

My mom works right next to this restaurant, which leads to a lot of Japanese takeout over the years from Satsuma Sushi. Let me first start off by saying that their sushi is amazing. The fish is fresh and their rolls are just the perfect size. The quality of their sushi is one of the reasons why we give patronage to Satsuma, and based on the other reviews we’re not the only one. Our long-time favorite is the Victoria’s Secret roll. It’s a bit on the pricey side, but it tastes like individual pieces of Heaven. As for everything else such as their teriyaki or chicken katsu… it’s pretty eh. Sometimes the beef teriyaki is emerged in a pool of soy sauce. Chicken katsu is just okay, but I’ve experienced better. And as for the service, this is where things are pretty sour. Dealing with takeout is a nightmare sometimes, and Satsuma is unfortunately no exception. The worst experience I ever had involved yelling and awkward, forced apologies by the staff. In retrospect, there were mistakes made by both parties. I should’ve been more careful and checked if all of our food was in the bag instead of blindly accepting what was being handed to me. On the other hand, maybe they should have handled me calling and asking politely where our Victoria’s Secret rolls were in a professional manner rather than by cutting me off repeatedly to insist it was in our bag and then prematurely hanging up before I was finished talking. I think the best part was getting a call back two minutes later from another staff member. She told me, «I’m really sorry, but we realize that we still have your Victoria’s Secret rolls here at the restaurant. You can come back.» The story ends with me returning to the restaurant, taking the Victoria’s Secret rolls, and listening to muttering of the most insincere of apologies(particularly by the lady who insisted that I was crazy and that the rolls were in our bag). My review overview: + excellent fish quality! + uniformly made sushi rolls! + interesting sushi combinations! +/-besides sushi, everything is really hit or miss… — embarrassingly bad customer service.

Good food, reasonably priced! Importantly, the quality is consistent. Often when i am not in the mood to cook and wanted something reasonably healthy, i’d come here. The place can get crowded. Come here early is best. My favorite is the 3 items bento. Good value.

If you like sushi and you’re in Mountain View, Satsuma is the place. If you are ordering sushi at the bar, order a large bottle of beer for the chefs. Your dinner will turnout to be a better dining experience. The bento menu is a good way to tryout two or three different main dishes at once. Fri — Sun nights, I would highly recommend making a reservation.

We used to go to this restaurant years ago when we lived in Sunnyvale, and it was always delicious! Tried it again tonight and it is still great. The tuna sashimi practically melts in your mouth, and they have a great selection of sushi rolls. Service was also very good. Overall a great sushi experience

One of my favorite sushi houses. The quality of fish is good. When you order nigiri, they don’t give you a lot of rice. Which is what I love most about this place.(Some place you go… and it’s like they want you to get filled up with rice more than the fish!) If you come here and you don’t really know what to eat… you can sit at the counter and just tell them you want Omakase. The chefs(Kevin and Danny) will take good care of you. You can either choose you only want nigiri… or if you also want sashimi as well. It’s a good value. Sunday is their super busy day. This is where they have all you can eat sushi rolls. And same as my comment above. they really make the«normal» rolls… with the proper amount of rice and fish. They don’t make the rolls with too much rice so you get full easily. This is definitely a legit place. And it’s what makes me come back every single week.

Seems like this place has racism in the air… we were seated and waited for 10 minutes before ordering. Waiter came and took our orders, 30 minutes later we were told that they were short on sushi chefs, yet 6 other non Asians tables around us came in after and got their sushis before us. On top of that, our glass cups were smaller than the others non Asians and we weren’t provided with straws… refills on drinks were not given to us until we were ready for our check… Our waiter never came back to our table… Waiters that helped served us mugged us and gave us attitude. Literally waited about 45 minutes to eat… lesson learned, if you’re Asian, don’t come eat here. Service towards Asians are crappy…

Went here early on a Wednesday night around 5 and it was pretty empty. We ordered a bento box dinner and a sushi & sashimi deluxe. Service: very friendly staff. They were attentive and checked in on us at least twice during our meal. Atmosphere: bathroom was very clean. Interior seems to have been remodeled not too long ago. It has a very open layout with booths in the middle. Food: it was decent but nothing special. I don’t think the amount was generous either. Price: it is mountain view, but I felt like the prices were too high. $ 30 for sushi and sashimi is more than what I would typically pay for even in Silicon Valley. Overall, it was good but not awesome. Only went here because I had to go to the PAMF mountain view center right across the street before dinner. I may come by again if I’m in the area.

Terrible fuckin customer service. I felt like they were racist towards Asians. No offense to anyone else but they chose to help out«Caucasian» customers before they help out my table. I don’t recommend this restaurant at all.

I’ve only ordered take out but they’re made pretty quickly and prices are average. About $ 15/roll for dinner. Rolls are pretty good, accounting for the fact they are probably damaged due to my drive home. Been here twice, would return.

I’ve been here several times and finally got around to writing a review. Just a solid sushi spot located in a very convenient location in Mountain View/Sunnyvale. Parking is never difficult and the wait is never too long. The sushi rolls here are almost always good and innovative. I must’ve had 10 – 15 different rolls since I’ve been here and more than half of them are selections that are unique to this location only. I appreciate Satsuma’s willingness to break out of the norm and it works! Special rolls plus sushi restaurant staples… what more can you ask for? Oh…great service! Nice and friendly staff here at Satsuma. The waitresses and owners are constantly checking in with you to see if everything’s going well but they won’t bother you too much once the food is out, which I greatly appreciate. Highly recommended!

This is one of the best sushi places in Peninsula. It’s a short distance from my house so I usually come here for a dinner. Their menus is very comprehensive. Their Sunday all you can eat deal seems to be very popular– I have yet to try it.

Uodate to our prior review — We ordered takeout on friday eve(6⁄5). Nothing fancy: katsune udon, spicy salmon and spicy tuna rolls, salad. The order took 30mins to come out. The salad was a disgrace two leafs of lettuce. After coming home we also discovered they gave us the wrong sushi rolls(red roe rolls) … This restaurant seems to be on a downward decline as in the last couple months we noticed a decline in quality and long waiting time for takeout orders. We’ll be looking for a new sushi restaurant in our neighborhood.

This is a good sushi place for sure. It isn’t cheap, I took 6 people here for lunch and it was over $ 300 bucks, but we ordered pure sushi and sashimi so that is always going to cost you for good quality. The rolls were all very good, the nigri had a good portion of fish and were not all rice. The sashimi showed me that this place uses high quality fish as it was very tasty. The out-of-towners all loved it and thought it was one of the best sushi places they’d ever been to. Overall a solid 4 star place in my book.

Wandered here on a Sunday evening to enjoy a simple sushi meal with husband. The 2-roll 1-appetizer meal was absolutely not simple! It was over the top! The 2 specialty rolls we ordered – high five and flaming dragon – were extravagant, dazzling, filling, and delicious. Even the jalapeños cream cheese appetizer – a combination I normally frowned upon – turned out to be interesting and tasty. The menu spots a lot of «Las Vegas» types of rolls – topped with fried tempura, piling on colorful fishes, and drizzled with a creamy mayo-y sauce. Therefore many specialty rolls fall within the $ 12 – 16 range. But they are big and flamboyant eye candies, and I think they are actually pretty good value for the taste and size. I have not had a roll I didn’t like here. Love this place — especially enjoy our impromptu visit on a day when it is not crazy busy. Service seemed particularly lovely and attentive on a slower day.

Came here with a party of 5 and was quickly seated in a booth. I got the three combination dinner for about $ 20. I got the Chicken Teriyaki, Sukiyaki and the Sake Sashimi. It was A LOT of food and I feel like this place is quantity over quality. The food was alright, but it was nothing to brag about. The service is also supppppppppppppperrrrrrr slow. There’s a parking lot that you can easily park and a Baskin Robins right next door for dessert!(:

Average food, not cheap and okay service. Came here for dinner on a weekday. Not many diners out so the service was slow, but the atmosphere was lovely and their menu extensive. All the typical dishes one would normally see at a Japanese restaurant were listed. From specialty rolls to sashimi and even bento boxes, Satsuma Sushi has got it all. I had the Unagi don($ 19) which came in a small, cute bento box. The unagi was superb — tasted fresh, fatty and delicious! My only gripe was they put a little too much pepper on top for my tastes so I ended up having to scoop it out… totally killed the whole dish. Service was average too — just wasn’t up to the standard I expected from a place like Satsuma. I most likely will not be coming back.
