I’ll be the first to admit it — Sogo has very pretty cakes, which are artfully designed and presentable for any occasion. I’m sad, though, that they are often flavorless, dry, and have a mass-produced, artificial quality to them — factory cakes, if you will. Like eating a sponge. You can get much better Asian-bakery cakes(chiffon, whipped cream, fruit) elsewhere.

I think Sogo Bakery has alot of potential, but don’t order the Mango Mousse Cake. I ordered a small mango mousse cake for a birthday(~$ 14) and it easily served 6 adults. The cake was nice and airy, and topped with a light whipped cream. As you would expect, the mango mousse layer tasted very artificial(imagine Chinese mango pudding), but the flavor was extremely artificial in a bad way… and I usually like Chinese mango pudding! They were a little stingy on the fresh fruit topping.

The hot dog bun with onions here is better than the ones ive had before at other sogo locations. I tried the muffins and other buns which were okay.
