I have had mixed results. I will say that the majority of events are poorly organized and more often than not the attendees are late. That said… they do have a lot of activities and provide an outlet of things to do and places to visit with my son.

This meetup group is poorly organized. I tried to follow the organizers’ instructions & rigid rules and all I got was confusion and attitude. I attended a few good meetups with my kid that we both enjoyed. But, when I wrote an honest review about our experience with one of the meetings(I gave them less that 5 stars) and tried to straighten things out with the organizers to solve some issues, they kicked me out of the group and sent me a weird email with false accusations. Here is the email: Teresa, Sam, and I are all in agreement on how to handle members who post negative comments to the entire group, show a repeated lack of basic courtesy to volunteer organizers, and an overall lack of social responsibility. There is no room in this group for the kind of behavior. We wish you all the best. Actually, I deleted my review a few weeks after I wrote it, back in Dec 2008. Teresa offered to remove a mark(asterisk on my profile, so other members could see that I’m a flake, RSVPing a meetup and not showing up) if I removed my review. Now, the bad review was because I never got the address of the meetup I wanted to attend and my son got very disappointed. The host did not email it to me and even apologized later for missing my RSVP. Any way, I deleted my review as agreed, but Teresa did not remove the asterisk. Then, in October ’09, I RSVPed for a meetup at the movies. I attended with my son and greeted some people from the meetup at the theater. During the movie, my son started feeling sick. So we left right after the movie ended. And, apparently the organizer never saw me. A few days later, I was notified that I got a second asterisk because the organizer thought I did not show up at the meetup. I’m glad that I’m out of this group as I would not want to be friends with these people(the organizers). There are other fun meetup groups for single parents in the bay area, in which the organizers are nice, flexible and not on a power trip.

This group is a great resource for single parents in the Bay Area! The purpose is to get together as many single parents as possible. We need each other because parenting solo is not easy. This group is an opportunity to help each other out, simply have fun or find someone who understands. We have newly single parents and long time single parents. The age range of the children are very young to grown and out on their own. Some of the events are parent only, some are for the entire family, and others get a bit specific with the age range that will best suit the activity. We have a good amount of hikes each year that provide a great way to get to know each other in a low pressure manner as you walk. Most hikes have ten 10 to 15 hikers. Events are hosted by volunteer organizers so they tend to cluster in areas around active members. Most of the events are in Menlo Park, Palo Alto and Mountain View at this time. We are always open to people who want to organize events in other parts of the Bay Area. The group is a great bunch of people who are willing to take a chance and who up. We have some boundaries with our members so we attract folk who have a high level of integrity. In my humble opinion. This group is worth your time to look. .
