I ordered the hickory chicken sandwich yesterday(Father’s day). The chicken was rancid! When the manager came to the table he told me, «the chicken was marinated, smoked, and then put on the grill». He apologized and took the sandwich off the bill. I didn’t want to order anything else. I wasn’t sure how my body was going to react. I played it safe and watched my family finish their food(disappointing). My dad’s chicken also had a spoiled taste. I suggest sticking with what Dave’s is famous– the ribs!

I like Dave’s. Good atmosphere and food. I do feel the waitresses need improvement however but I’ll give 5 for food

Do you have a favorite take out spot where the food is never ready? Yet you keep going back? We do. Famous Daves Bar BQ. Daves provides the«convenience» of online ordering and order by telephone. We choose to order online selecting our pick up time. We have used this service half a dozen times and have always been treated to a twenty minute to half hour wait. Yesterday was a new low. When we arrived, I noticed twenty tickets clipped up awaiting action. No one staffing the take out area. When someone finally arrived, she advised that they were working on our order but she had no idea how long it would be. Quizzing the nearby miserable looking patrons, I discovered that several had been waiting for an hour! A manager finally arrived. By this time, there were about twenty folks waiting for their food. He promised discounts to the aggrieved, yet no guidance for how long the wait would be. He told us we should have called ahead to see if there would be a wait. Hysterical. Who calls the restaurant to check up on an online order? We waited thirty five minutes before we bailed. I wonder if the franchise owner knows or cares that patrons are treated poorly at his place. I wonder if corporate ever reads these reviews. I wonder why this place is still in business. I wonder if I am a moron for continuing to return. Maybe someday, my questions will be answered. Perhaps Mighty Quinn will save the day and open a place near Berkeley Heights. Then, all this will be moot. Not bloody likely. After we left, we drove to Nunzio’s in Vauxhall. Our order was waiting for us with a big smile. Famous Daves, clean up your act. One star for atrocious service. One star for the decent food we used to enjoy.

I used to love FD when I was younger, so when I went yesterday for the first time in about 10 years for a friends bday I was excited, expecting to see a fresh new atmosphere and maybe some exciting new items on the menu. Rather what I got was a stale setup and menu from a decade prior. Usually when that much times goes by a brand adapts to changes in society, but not here. I guess it still works enough to stay open, but it didn’t quite work for me. Now on to a more location based review. The service was TERRIBLE. It was not busy at all but they seemed understaffed and the staff seemed under experienced. It took 10 minutes just to have our waiter acknowledge us. He would walk passed us multiple times empty handed, not having anything we had asked for. He would bring drinks(water and soda) out 2 at a time with a long wait in between each run. When we were done with our appetizer dishes, they sat on our table until the main course came half an hour later. When we went to pay, most of it was cash, but 2 of us had cards. He ended up charging the entire bill to the one card as well as charging the other and taking the cash. When we questioned it he made up some dumb answer like it was fine. We ended up talking to the manager and confirming the entire bill had been charged to his card. Really the only saving grace here were the ribs, and even then, I’ve had better.

This place is aged and poorly ran. It’s the same as I remember it from 10 years ago but worse service. Everything was SLOW, we sat for 20 minutes trying to get our bill paid. Then the server charged the whole bill on my friends card and took our cash! The manager refunded the money but didn’t even say anything afterwords … I would say this place should get 0 Stars but the food was cooked pretty well and that’s why there’s one legit star here.

This past Saturday night(3÷12÷16) my husband and I took our 19 month old to Famous Dave’s at 7:15pm. We were greeted and sat immediately. The place was clean and family friendly. Our server Louis greeted us as soon as we sat & took drink orders. He was very attentive and answered our questions regarding the menu happily. He returned shortly with drinks & took our order. The 3 of us shared the feast for 2. It was at our table quickly & Louis checked on us frequently. The food was delicious, exceeded our expectations! There was even enough food for us to take home! We were very pleased with our food & service & we look forward to our return.

I wish there was an option for negative stars… OR!!! an option where I can say they owe me 5 stars for sitting in this place. I gave this place much more credit then deserved by giving them one star. The server greeted us as if we had some weird horns coming out of our heads, then took what felt like a year to get our drinks, the tables appetizer looked«adorable»… I say«adorable» because I shouldn’t say it looks like garbage on the plate. With fresh lettuce on top(which was a plus…) Quick question for ya, Famous Dave’s: what kind of server drops food off by saying«how gluten free are you? Is it an allergy? Because the potatoes may or may not have gluten in them…»?!? Then proceeds to hand me my food anyway — KNOWING— I’m allergic!!! Advice: 1– TRAINYOURSERVERSONWHATYOUARESELLING. I have been a corperate resturant trainer and worked in the restaurant industry for well over a decade now … If you need tips on how to properly train your servers… Please let me know. PRODUCTKNOWLEDGEISKEYINTHISINDUSTRY. YOUARESELLINGFOOD!!! KNOWTHEFOOD!!! 2– This next one is a shocker for me to even have to say… know/offer your allergens list!!! TOEVERYTABLE!!! I did my own research so I knew what I could and couldn’t have prior… Yet the employees didn’t??? What’s wrong with this place!!! 3– HIREPEOPLEWITHRESTAURANTEXPERIENCE!!! If our server told you, upon being hired, she had restaurant experience… I would call her references. 4– Hire hosts that know what they are doing. These people do realize they work with the general public correct? KEEPYOURATTITUDESOUTSIDEOFYOURJOB!!! 5– Customers don’t want to see servers with their phones in their back pockets. When you’re at work… You’re at work. At the end of the day, the food was terrible, The service was as good and enjoyable as getting a splinter under your nail, and I’m now currently extremely queazy after eating the food. Toodles! Famous Dave’s needs to change its name to «15 minute of fame Dave’s» … Never coming back.

This place has been consistently going downhill for years. Was there tonight, ordered burnt ends and ribs. Ends were all fat, everything was cold, orders didn’t come out correctly and took a long time to bring out correct orders. Tap beer didn’t taste good, bathrooms were filthy. The only reason that it gets 2 stars is that Daves is usually a good chain, food is usually good and I’m sure that if someone who ran it actually gave a shit, it could turn around quickly. Until that time I won’t be back

I went to this location the other night with a friend and I was pleasantly surprised by the great service we received. I have a recently discovered gluten intolerance(can’t eat anything containing wheat) so I was nervous eating out at a new place. I asked our waitress if they had anything gluten-free and she provided me with a full food allergen list. I got the saucy boneless wings with 2 sides and I was impressed with the presentation of the food, the quality and the service. The waitress came back to our table as we were waiting to make sure it was ok to use flour in my food, which it is. I’m happy to say I didn’t have any reactions and I even had leftovers for the next day. Everyone was super nice and helpful at this location!

I haven’t been here in 2 years. I don’t know what happened. The quality has dropped dramatically. It took. 10 minutes to get waitress to take drink order. Bad start. We noticed a lot of people around us in the same situation. The appetizers were OK, You can’t mess up wings and onion strings. I ordered brisket and chopped pork. Both were mostly fat, and I ordered the lean brisket!. My wife almost broke a tooth eating her salad. We hope it was a bone. Sorry Dave’s. I won’t be back…

A good, solid barbeque option. For a weekend lunch, the place was pretty empty so that probably helped us get great service. I love when I get refills without having to flag the waitress down. If you do have to wait, they have really comfortable couches instead of hard benches. I had the combo of St. Louis ribs and chicken. The meat was tender and falling of the rib bone and the chicken was nice and juicy. It comes with two sides and a corn bread, so even though it is a bit pricey, it made enough for two meals worth for me. I’m also glad they went back to their regular menu with pictures and descriptions, as last time I came they were testing a small menu to make the servers explain everything. I much prefer reading descriptions than asking a dozen questions and I’m sure the servers prefer that too. They also gave us a small shared plate of barbeque flavored chips that I’ve never had here before so I’m not sure if it’s like free bread at other restaurants, but they had a nice thick crisp to them so I was glad to try them. I’ve been here a few times and have had good experiences here. Once I was worried I wouldn’t get a parking spot and it’a decent sized lot. If it’s that popular, it must be a good sign.

This was a great place when It first opened but unfortunately it has gone downhill every year since. We went there Friday evening and found ourselves sticking to the floor the ribs had no meat on them, and some of the food was cold. Go somewhere else if you want barbecue

What happened? I have not eaten at Famous Daves for about two years. But I have in the past eaten at many of them, this one in Mountain side included. The quality was horrible. What happened? Two adults, two kids, meal with appetizers was about $ 110. The brisket was tough and undercooked. The rib tips were almost entirely bones and fat. The hot link sausage tasted like Hilshire Farms. I also tried my sons ribs, undercooked also. When you have to aggressively try to bite through the meat on a baby back rib, it is way undercooked. I have had many good experiences with this chain in the past. Not sure if it’s just this location or all the chain has gone downhill. On the positive side, our waiter was excellent.

Came here with a group for a birthday celebration mid week. The food was tasty and the feast provided plenty of food. Though for a group of 5, 3 cornbread was stupid. Brought in a birthday coupon, the waiter had no clue what to do with it. Manager came and said ok curtly and left. Neither manager or server EVER wished my son Happy Birthday. The waiter had to return 3 times to complete our order. Ordered an 2nd tea which was never served. The atmosphere was too quiet and almost stale. After the appetizer, server did not clear those plates. For the price, lack of good service and ok food, I would not recommend.

Had a good lunch here! Great service and great food. Drinks should be a little stronger, felt a little watered down but maybe my day was just that rough. The waiter was very polite, knew all of the specials and basically finished my sentence when I couldn’t get the name of appetizer that I wanted so he was very knowledgable about what was on the menu. Overall good experience!

I love BBQ food and I have visited at least four different Famous Dave’s across the country. Like all of the other chains this restaurant has a log cabin type feel to it. We went on a Thursday lunchtime and the place was pretty quiet, with just a few other customers, which was fine as we had a choice of seating. When visiting the other restaurants in this chain we have always been introduced to the 6⁄7 sauces by them being artfully squirted onto a plate by the waiter/waitress and then given chips to sample the sauces whilst perusing the menu. However this was not the case today. Between my partner and I, we decided upon the baby back ribs, brisket, rib tips, fries, corn muffin, corn on the cob, broccoli. The brisket was to die for, it was moist, slightly smokey and ram jam packed full of flavour. A must try if you come here. Equally the tips were good. I could give or take the ribs. The fries had good amount of flavour to them but they could have been hotter! I won’t bother telling you about the veg, cause let’s be honest that’s not why you came here. The waitress we had really went up in my estimations but that’s probably because, on leaving I asked if we could purchase one of the sauces, which she informed me we couldn’t. However she did offer to give us a little tub of the sauce to take home, which we gratefully accepted. As I type this review my husband is reading me the calorie intake for our meals. Eek! 2000 calories for my portion alone and that’s not counting the sides. I may forgo the whole eating thing tomorrow.

Ive been a loyal customer to this place for years! I love this place. When its not crowded, it provides the best bbq food u can have. When it is crowded the quality lacks. Anyway this time i came here on a late friday night, like around 10pm. It was quite dead and an hour before close. The staff was friendly. I ordered the bbq salmon with mac and cheese and fries, my friend ordered the bbq pulled pork with mash and potato salad, and we got 2 frozen lemonades. The drinks took a while, and so did the food. But everything was tastsy.
