New owners… le sigh… From other posts, things don’t sound so sugary and good… or the same…

It took me awhile to try it out but I finally got to it and now every so often I crave a waffle from here. Generally, I don’t eat stuff like waffles and pancakes. My kids do but not I. That is until now… Good thing I don’t live up north because I’d definitely stop by more often than I already do. These waffles are so yummy and not overly sweet like I thought they might be. I’m fairly sensitive to sweet things so I am surprised that I can handle these and with toppings too! They have a selection of combos that sound very good but I usually build my own because it’s just too much for me. The combos come with 2 waffles but one is plentiful in my opinion. Price to portion ratio is good, waffles are crisp and toppings are fresh. I love getting strawberries and sliced almonds with marshmallow glaze and a side of vanilla froyo, which by the way tastes like ice cream to me oddly. Décor is quite simple and clean which gives it a nice chill feel. Maybe some more furnishings and some different colors would give it a great touch. Parking is limited which sucks but I haven’t experienced a time where I couldn’t find a free space. I’m definitely a regular and so are my kids. They absolutely love it here. Try it out.

I’m a huge fan of frozen yogurt and a lover of sweet desserts. Within the past few years, the frozen yogurt business has increased and become extremely popular– so when I heard about Melt opening up, I was excited. The first thing that I liked was Melt’s convenient location. It was not very difficult to find this place(Me being from Federal Way). Once I entered Melt, I already knew what I was in for. This place smelled amazingly of sweet waffles. The shop was clean and vibrant along with amusing poster quotes which I thought was very unique compared to Menchies and Red Mango. Here’s the thing. Melt is different. So for those of you who are complaining about what they’re doing– remember this. They’re not running it exactly like the typical frozen yogurt shop. No, it isn’t self service where you can add a lot of froyo and toppings. If you want that, then go to Menchies. And no, they don’t only provide froyo and toppings itself. If that’s what you’re looking for, then by all means just go to your nearest Red Mango. This is Melt. They give you frozen yogurt with a little twist. The waffles tasted great with my vanilla frozen yogurt. The sweet, warm waffle and cool frozen yogurt was a great combination! Along with that, I added a couple of toppings. It was a new taste which I enjoyed. I came in Melt knowing what I was going to get and I loved it. Melt is new and it is at the beginning of something great. I’m excited for this place to become the next big thing. This is a fun dessert shop, not a five star restaurant. If you’re not satisfied with this place then you can go back to the norm with the other typical froyo shops.

Now you get 5 stars. Initially the first week did have it’s hiccups(like any new business) but I can now say that those kinks are worked out. The portions are now better, the waffles are generally more consistent, and the toppings are fresher. Way to go on upgrading in such a short time. The joint is well kept, super clean, and the staff is friendly and helpful. Mountlake Terrace has a good thing with Melt on the corner of it. When they first opened, they were a credible contender for froyo in this area, now… I think I have my favorite froyo place in the northend. Keep going and innovating, I’m curious with what’s next. 5 menchies-what?-red-mango-what? stars out of 5
