I was excited to try this place after some locals told me how good it was. I have gone here twice, once ordered takeout and ate in another time. Both times the food just wasn’t good. The ribs are full of gristle and overloaded with a not so good tasting sauce. The brisket again overloaded with sauce. The Mac and cheese is disappointing. It should at least be home made tasting. The worst part was the sodas, I had some sort of iced tea that was advertised as sweet tea but obviously was some generic soda based tea(not even nestea for gods sake). What kind of bbq place doesn’t have fresh brewed sweet tea and lemonade? I told the waitress it was horrible and asked for a Coke instead, generic Coke! What business in the 21st century serves generic sodas??? They aren’t expensive to make. Even the bottom of the barrel dickies has sweet tea and real sodas. It’s sad to say I like to support local businesses, but this one just misses this mark in many ways. The indoor ambience was good, but the food terrible for the price. I’ll stick to places like mission bbq and road hawg from now on.

We had a delicious late lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The pulled pork dinner, with collard greens and coleslaw, was delicious. The sauce that comes on the pulled pork is not spicy, however, there is a spicy BBQ sauce on the table if you would like a little more kick. We started the meal with chili and cheese nachos, which were delicious! My daughter had a hamburger that she said was good and my other daughter had a chicken cheesesteak, which was tasty. My wife had a grilled chicken salad and it was good, but after tasting my pulled pork, she wishes she have gotten the pulled pork. After a fire some time last year, they renovated and expanded the restaurant. The décor is very nice and it really looks and smells like a barbecue joint. On the way out of the restaurant, we saw them smoking the meat in the back, which is always a good sign at a BBQ place. We are definitely adding this one to the list and will be going back again!

Terrible. The ribs were not in a rack or half rack form .they were individually cut and half were not even ribs– they were gristle. I was not even sure what I was eating. DONT waste your money.

First time back since they reopened after the fire. It’s extremely nice inside. Great place. They did a awesome job redoing it. The food was fantastic. The best pulled pork in the area. If your nearby. It’s a must stop.

I was excited to try the bbq since I’m new to the area. Sad to say it’s not the best I’ve tried in the Lancaster county area. It’s ok. Had tried pulled pork, Mac n cheese, burgers, fries, corn bread, Cole slaw and the bbq chicken. Chicken was dry, not impressed. Pulled pork was ok. Cole slaw good, Mac n cheese ok, burger was extremely salty, and fries were ok. Just nothing spectacular here except the service. Always friendly and fast but the food feels like it’s been sitting out for way to long. Huge disappointment. Three stars for décor and service.

So glad Harveys is open again. New digs are nice. I tried the turkey sandwich for the first time. Piled high with moist tasty turkey, crispy bacon, lettuce & tomato. Very good. My wife had brisket sandwich which she said was great. Our server was nice and attentive. A great meal!

Yes… finally returned to the«new» Harvey’s after they completed the remodeling from the fire that occurred several months ago. Parking area is still the same but old smokers outside are gone, replaced by two large wall mounted units attached to the completely new kitchen. We walked into a completely different Harvey’s. Greeted by a hostess now and seated in a space that is at least triple the size of the old Harvey’s. We were attended to by a great waitress(yes now there is now table service) Now down to the nuts and bolts, we ordered sodas and after tasting the«Diet Coke» I’m like WTF this is not Diet Coke, tastes like diet RC or something. We then found out that the soda selection had changed and was not noted on all the menus, I mean really, you spend six figures completely redoing the restaurant and putting menus changes on with stickers? Bet the menus will change when the prices go up? We both had the pulled pork dinners with fries, the pulled pork was typical Harvey’s fare, but the fries looks like they were cut from new potatoes, a lot of cold small limp pieces, come on now, potatoes are not rocket science, at least serve hot fries. The macaroni salad tasted like a commercial salad right out of a plastic bucket, the baked beans must have been house made because at least the commercial baked beans are cooked completely. My daughters chicken fingers appeared to be house made but were dry and over cooked to the point of almost being burnt, after sending the chicken back the house first offered a brownie as a «we are sorry the kitchen is asleep at the switch» tidbit then the waitress returned and said them would give us a credit on the next visit due to an issue refunding the amount on the credit card… How about cash? or a gift card? Last but not least change your dinner rolls or steam them, butter does not cover up serving dry rolls. I really think the owners need to decide are we running a mobile catering business or a stand alone restaurant. Right now you are stretched too thin and the food is showing it.

We have waited all this time for this place to open up again… The inside looks great. A lot of seating now. Probably tripled the seating. I noticed 2 big smoker units on the side of the building. The waitress was super nice and very accommodating. Now to the food. Not nearly as good as it used to be. The fries still fresh cut but were limp and not very tasty and for some reason the fries were about 1 inch long at the most or shorter. Kids love chicken fingers. The chicken fingers we got were almost burned on the outside and dry inside. Needless to say we were disappointed. The waitress agreed with us apologized and took the chicken fingers to the kitchen to show the cook. We were told management would refund the cost of the chicken fingers. After the meal we were offered fresh baked brownies. I thought since they just opened they are a courtesy of the house, a «thank you for stopping by «browny«. What was I thinking? No we could purchase them. Thanks but no thanks. When we got the bill the chicken fingers were not taken off the bill. The waitress told us they accidentally took the amount off someone else’s bill. They could not refund the money because we paid via debit card. If we would leave our name next time they would give us the $ 5.95 credit. BUT they wanted to give us one pack of brownies for free for all the hassle to do something nice for us. If we would have been without child I would not have taken the brownie, but now deny a child a brownie for what happened did not seem right. We did not leave our name either to get the refund next time we stop by. We were pretty much done with the whole experience and ready to leave at this point. Again I have to say the waitress was very nice but obviously embarrassed about how all of this was being handled. We probably return to give it another chance. For right now. The kitchen staff(cooks) has to step up to the plate, get back into their game. if they want the business to be as successful as it used to be. The food has to improve and taste better. Tip on the dinner rolls. Get fresh soft rolls maybe warm them up a little they tasted stale. Also when ordering diet coke it is not«diet coke» we were told later that it was to expensive to reprint the menus to reflect the change of soda. Okay this is it. I wished it would have been a five star review. Hopefully it will be again. If not another chapter to «Food Waste Land» was added. You spent a lot of time and money on the building. Give your customers what they really want… Good Food!

We visited this place today for the second time during our long weekend at the area. We couldn’t go back without one more meal here. The place ois freshly renovated, rustic yet clean décor.

Food was absofruitly delicious, some of there drinks weren’t available and I got fries instead of onion rings. But the food made up for it all.

The brisket, Cajun sausage, and chicken were all good. My husband and I agreed that the pulled pork and the St Louis style ribs were really exceptional and we enjoyed them the most. The interior of the restaurant is roomy and rustic. You can also BYOB if you so choose which is cool. They have takeout as well as catering which is also nice to know. The downside? No kids menu and their portions are far larger than any kid could ever finish. If they corrected this oversight, they could easily be a 5 star establishment.

We visited Harvey’s just days before they had a fire and closed until they can rebuild. I was saddened to learn of the fire because I was excited to return soon after my first visit. The food was great, some of the best BBQ I’ve had(I try it often when I travel all over) and yet so close to home. I hope they return soon with an even bigger presence.

They catered a corporate event I attended and I was so surprised at how good it was! I am a former culinary professional and I am picky. I am also on a diet and was convinced I would only feel compelled to eat a polite amount of food and I was not at risk of abandoning my diet. Well… I could not get enough! It was excellent!

BBQ is excellent, very moist, perfectly seasoned. Harvey’s house made sauce also is a must have(does have a bit of spice too it). Coleslaw is probably the best I have ever had around. I have had Harvey’s on a few occasions including at a wedding they catered. I must say for their catering they did an amazing job. Food was fresh, hot & plenty. Their red skin potato salad is AMAZING. Highly recommended, nice little gem in Mount Joy to get your fingers saucy and leave unbuttoning your pants.

This place is nothing fancy to look at, kind of like sitting in the restaurant area of a pizza place. And you order at the front counter, pay, and the waitress brings your food to the table and cleans up after you. We LOVED the food here. The spicy honey bbq wings were crispy and delicious. The ribs fell off the bone, the baked beans were unbelievable, with chunks of meat in there. I was trying to be good by having the brisket salad but there was so much meat on it and it was so tender and delicious, I ate it all. I don’t even think I like brisket that much but boy, this stuff was great. Would go back if ever in the area.

Delicious BBQ! My family and I enjoyed pulled pork, rib, and brisket platters. All were very good but my favorite had to be the pulled pork. It was extremely tasty and juicy. The ribs were meaty and tender but seemed a bit spicy to me(although probabaly the culprit was the BBQ sauce). I did really like the brisket too and it was not at all fatty and was thinly sliced. All of the platters came with rolls that were not all that memorable. We tried the baked beans which were very good and onion rings which were decent. We also got the cornbread which was good but seemed a bit dry and not as sweet tasting as I would like. The service was great and the atmosphere was nice, especially eating at the picnic tables outdoors with the smokers close by. Harvey’s also has a few parking spaces in the back.

I came here with my husband and I had the buffalo wings, brisket and onion rings. The brisket and onion rings was pretty good, though I have had better. The wings were just okay, not as crispy as the wings I had the previous day. Service was a bit slow, but the cashier was helpful.

This bbq was a side trip on a mini-vacation. Totally worth the extra time in the car. I got THEDECISIONMAKER. It comes with some ribs, brisket, pulled pork, smoked chicken, smoked sausage, and 2 sides. My table also got a dozen BBQ chicken wings to start, subbed the ribs for some more brisket, and ordered a half rack on the side(all the reviews said that the ribs are to die for, we felt we needed more than what was included in the decision maker). For sides, we had some Mac and Cheese, onion rings, fresh cut fries, potato salad, and corn bread(I forgot to mention the decision maker comes with a roll, but I need some good ol’ cornbread). If I were to go again? Chicken wings! BBQ sauce and extra blue cheese on the side! AMAZING. Plus, THERIBS. And I wouldn’t give any sides a second thought, just order the fries! For a bigger breakdown on the experience and food, check out my blog. But definitely give Harvey a chance! It’s good.
