I and my better half, stopped in here just after Christmas. The burgers were great. It was relaxing watching the Green Bay Packers while having a beer. Jack W.

Disappointed! We’ve been here several times for the fish fry, but hadn’t been back for a while. It just wasn’t the same. Seems like they cut corners. The fries were clearly frozen fries, when before I swear they were fresh. Just sad because it’s so hard to find a good fish fry!

went for burgers, they have a hard time making medium rare… all 3 were medium well. Service was ok, but wouldn’t you think they would toast the buns for the burgers! I toast the buns when I make burgers at home, I expect them too at a place that makes a living serving food.

I have eaten here five times and the food and service is great. It is a smaller place that gets busy. Their fish fry is one of my favorites with a thin coating. Everything looks and smells good

I stopped here with my family by chance one Friday when we discovered our favorite fish fry joint was closed for some repairs. We were on our way past Double D’s and thought it was worth a shot. When we entered, we were greeted by someone who took our name but never told us how long it would be for a table.(There aren’t many that we could see.) I bought a round of drinks and we waited. When we were seated, my drink was nearly empty. The waitress never asked if I needed another one. In fact, for the whole meal my glass was empty. I couldn’t get her attention long enough to get one, and when she stopped to ask how everything was she was gone before I could ask. Okay, I could have gone up to the bar and waited for a bartender to have a chance to get me one, but I was out for dinner and didn’t want to leave my group to get a drink. That being said, the food was fantastic. I got the dinner that has a little of everything. Baked cod, fried cod, shrimp, perch, and walleye… A ton of food and it was good! The walleye wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, but the baked cod melted in my mouth, and the perch was out of this world. The fried cod was up there as well! All in all, I would go here again. Hopefully the service issue was an off night, but if not I’ll plan on going to the bar for my drinks next time.

We’ve been here twice and were pleased and somewhat surprised at the quality of food. Service was good and staff friendly. I waited too long to write this review so don’t remember what i ordered. However, since we tried 4 menu items and were happy with all 4, i am guessing it is a trend. After reading reviews, I think i need to get there for fish fry. What i do for Unilocal is amazing. lol

Smokers hang out outside the very narrow entrance and block your way in. Had the same problem when leaving. Several flies inside were bothering me constantly while eating. I had a bacon cheeseburger. It was ok. Bacon was over cooked and very crisp. Burger was very large. Service was average. I wouldn’t go back.

This review isn’t for locals, they pack it in here Friday nights. The question is, is it worth the drive from Milwaukee or the Chicago area? If you’re looking for the quintessential small town Wisconsin Friday night fish fry, well then, I think the answer is, sure! The parking lot was full when we got there at 6:30, a sure sign that this is a regular spot for neighbors, and a lot of people in there seemed to know each other. It’s right across highway J from a pretty little lake, and a few people came right off their fishing boats in to have a beer or four. They’ve got Miller on tap, but better yet, order the Spotted Cow in bottles. The tap beer comes in cheap plastic pitchers, with a stack of cheap disposable cups, that’s the kind of place it is. The bar inside has lots of bar type seating, and folding tables are set up for the Friday crowd. There’s also a little outdoor patio, but it was too hot and humid for us. There would be a nice sunset view from there though. In spite of the crowd, we squeezed into the only available table, without a wait, and our waitress was impressively quick and efficient. My over-educated chief of staff asked her if they had a Porter or brown ale, the confounded look on the waitress’ face was priceless. That’s when we found out there’s three kinds of Miller on tap. The fried cod is delicious, and seconds are free, the shrimp was pretty good too. If you’re trying to avoid the more typical Wisconsin physique, you can order your fish baked, but then you’re really missing the Friday Fish Fry theme. The potato pancakes are descended from distant German ancestors, you have to ask for sour cream, they come with apple sauce(and pancake syrup?, shocking). The home made cole slaw is quite good, the rye bread is not home made. My GPS failed me on this one, because Highway J is not actually in Mukwonago. Get off of I-43 at the Mukwonago exit, take Bayview drive to County ES, to Highway J, and watch the address numbers. Get there before sunset so you can find the place and look out onto the lake before going in.
