What a beautiful building… so much character, history and atmosphere! The restaurant has changed hands often over the years and we were hoping this new owner would be great and have consistently excellent food. Sadly, not the case. We went in December and the food was pretty good although our server was a bit tacky. We tried it again recently and while our server was great, pleasant and efficient, our dinners not so much. We tried the escargot app and it was over breaded and the sauce was terrible. We asked for garlic butter to dip instead, and much as I love garlic, this was way overpowering! For entrees, one of us had prime rib, the other the lamb special. Both dishes were cool to the touch and not seasoned well… almost too much, like trying too hard, the flavor of the meat was lost. The mashed potatoes were gooey and the veggies overcooked. Dessert in December was an interesting chocolate dish, but at our recent visit we tried the cheesecake which was an oddly stacked bite-sized cheesecakes, some still partially frozen! Definitely not homemade! The meal was really a disappointment because I love that place and want it to succeed! I may think about another visit… not sure. The malbec was quite tasty, and you can’t beat the ambiance!

Exceptional service. Highly recommended for your adult dining. We had the Pork chops and queen cut prime rib. Both were served with garlic smashed potatoes and chef’s blend of seasonal vegetables. You also get a house soup or salad. I would recommend upgrading to the French onion soup, if you would like to know what real French onion soup tastes like. You also receive a bread plate with honeyed butter. Do save room for dessert. All are make fresh to order. Ask your server for tonight’s selection. I really enjoyed the poached pear. Worth the drive from Milwaukee.

My husband and I and three of our friends had dinner at Heaven City the other night and here are our thoughts: First, we are all over 65 and just wanted to have a nice dinner and to visit. As you know, older folks sometimes have trouble hearing, so a nice quiet atmosphere is always appreciated. There was live music, which was really lovely, but WAY too loud. We were seated one room away from the music and couldn’t hear each other talk. We asked the server to help with the situation, and she did, which helped. Why is it so hard to understand that ANY music, live or piped, has to be loud to be enjoyed? I know, we’re just crabby old people, but remember – we have the cash to go out and have a $ 100 + meal. Our meals were mixed. Three had no complaint, but two of us had a slight complaint. The steak was cool, not hot. And, my chicken Parmesan was way overdone – coating was almost black on the edges it was so over cooked. We will probably give it one more shot on a night when there’s no live music. I’ll be sad if it isn’t good because I LOVE that place!

Visited for the first time a few weeks ago, left quickly due to the owner(?) fighting with staff while drinking at the bar. Maybe the time would have been better spent not making my fish fry taste greasy and lifeless. Figured I would give a second attempt on a different day. Food was still undesirable and lifeless. For the prices there’s no reason to have such sub par food. Figured I would keep it simple for the server that reeked of cigarettes, «Heaven City Burger», aka, burnt hockey puck. $ 13 for a burger, please at least do a better job than Culvers. It tasted like a food service frozen patty that was so dry and lifeless I would have preferred to chew sand. Next time I will just go to Kwik Trip for lunch and save the money. I now understand why there is never a wait, how they stay in business with this food quality is amazing, And the drunk transients that live in the shanty community next door that were day drinking is just an added bonus. It felt like a trailer park at bar close, cant imagine what its like late at night.

Had the prime rib. Chicken noodle soup not a noodle to be found. Salad, average, no fresh cracked pepper. Stale dinner rolls. Garlic mashed potatoes over beaten, gluey. Prime rib tough, hard to cut, harder to chew. Disappointed. Really wanted this to be fantastic as it is close to home. On the plus side, fantastic wine and bartender.

My husband, son and I went for the fish fry. The fish was really good. I had the fries and the guys had the potato pancakes, they were both done very well. We ordered drinks and an appetizer to start out. We had the Oysters Rockefeller, Cucumber Sliders, and Mushroom Au gratin. They were great! The Cucumber Sliders were so fresh and the dill sauce awesome. The service was great. Thank you Erica. She was friendly and so out out going. She made sure that we knew her name, she was really friendly and very attentive to our table. We will definetely go back.

Wasn’t really impressed. For the prices they are asking I was expecting the food to be a lot better. We had the mozzarella sticks as an appetizer and they were very heavily breaded. The small salad only comes with one dressing. We weren’t offered any other choice. The Lobster mac and cheese was extremely heavy without much lobster flavor at all.

This is really a beautiful restaurant facility with well-preserved architecture. The food was quite good and the menu had a good variety of dishes for our party of four. I understand that the ownership has changed lately and that can cause some rough patches. I hope people enjoy the same experience we did.

In Mukwonago we need more restaurant choices. I have experienced all the changes(ownership and atmosphere) to The Heaven City restaurant over the last 15 years. The building is still a wonderful draw. I was hoping that the new Heaven City ownership would finally provide the quality required for the beautiful building. Alas, visited for Tapas Tuesday and we were disappointed. Small portion ribeye over cooked and large portions of fat. The scallops were inedible. We had to return and did not wish to wait for more scallops to «be fired». Chicken and shrimp tacos were very good. We loved the carrot cake desert with coffee. We would have enjoyed more coffee but it seemed like the wait person was very eager to leave for the evening. It was close to 9:00 pm closing time. In a few months we will try again.
