Sample 5 wines for free. FREE! My favorite price :). Bottles are very affordable– $ 12 and $ 13 ish. An older lady was the one to do our tasting. She wanted to see my ID even though I’m 34 — LoL. We liked the Elderberry dry and the Elderberry Blackberry. It’s got the typical wine doo-dads for purchase like coasters, shirts etc as well as elderberry stuff. The inside sort of looks like an old country store with all the light colored unfinished wood. It’s pretty big inside and has two separate bars/counters. One bar is for tasting, directly ahead when you walk in and the other for purchasing that’s on the other side of the room. The ambiance has more of a store feel than a wine tasting room — but not to a fault.

My friend and I ordered some of Wyldewood Cellars wine and it was AMAZING! Their Elderberry and Strawberry Rhubarb wines are to die for! Now we are ordering a CASE to share with our friends and family! whoohoo! Love it!

What a charming little surprise to find along the highway during my road trip through Kansas to Nebraska. There are signs for 50 miles so you can’t miss it! Not only do they give free tastings, but they will discount your turnpike fee off any purchase. My first order of business was a few samples of their elderberry rosés and reds. I can’t recall what the names of the wines were, but I enjoyed all 4 that I tried. I’d have gone for more tastes than just that, but had a long drive ahead of me. To soak up some of the vino, I sampled a few of their jellies(on Wheat Thins); namely the jalapeño! I can’t get enough of that kind of jelly with a sharp cheese! In fact, I liked theirs so much, I bought 2 jars. I’d have bought a bottle of wine but knew I could not take it in my carry-on and wouldn’t finish it in the one night I would be traveling before flying home. Unfortunately, I got screwed by the Oklahoma airport(damn FAA!) and they made me throw it out. What a bummer! Had I known, I would have purchased some crackers and eaten a bunch in my room! Alas, all I have are my fond memories.

I had been to this business before, many years ago, but, decided to go again yesterday to find a gift for a friend. Well, lets just say, these folks are NOT friendly! We were the only patrons in the store and we were never greeted or asked if we needed any assistance let alone offered a sample! One of the employees was even eating there lunch right beside the cash register(no break room ??), whatever! I did purchase a bottle of wine and a t-shirt. The only reason I didn’t just turn around and leave was that I wanted a local wine for a gift for a friend of ours that we will be visiting next month in Canada. I guess this business thinks that because they are next door to the Kansas Star Casino they don’t have to try to hard for business. Think again Wyldewood Cellars, I will tell everyone I know how bad my experience was,

If ever I were given a hedonic reason to sustain a nearly insufferable drive to some glorified barn near Mulvane, Kansas(as provinciale as that already is), Wyldewood Cellars would be it. I could spend this review touting the glories of various wine concoctions, but that’s up for you to decide. The kind folks at Wyldewood will let you sample their products, generously giving you two slurps of your choice of home-fermented deliciousness. If you’re the type of guy(or gal) who prefers super sweet, juicy beverages, try the white Elderflower, which embraces your tongue like a morning Alpan dew. For those cold winter months, Wyldewood produces a spiced Elderberry wine, which you absolutely must drink pipping, allowing the fragrance of winterberries and oak to waft around you as you tell stories by the fire. And then there’s the jams, the crafted corkscrews and the fudge — all of which pair nicely with your new flower wine, or can be given as quirky Kansas gifts to your new neighbors from the coast.
