Very good Chinese! I have only eaten here once, so I’m not sure it’s the best in the Muncie area, but it’s very good. I had the hot and sour soup(delicious and spicier than most), and the generals chicken. Restaurant is inside of an Asian market and not fancy. Prices are cheap also, two meals/with drinks including tip was under $ 20.00. I will eat here again for sure!

Best non-Buffett Chinese place in Muncie. Loved the dumpling, all of them! Small place but large portions of yummy food. Not a fan of the fried rice

My brother and I stopped by for lunch the other day and we were really surprised at the quality of food that was served. While the location was quiet with no music playing the male server was courteous and the food came reasonably quickly for being freshly cooked. The only problem we had was that I forgot to tip and the server deserved a few dollars for his positive attitude. So the next time I visit I will correct that mistake and overall I recommend this spot to anyone in muncie looking for a unique Chinese food experience.

I LOVE dumplings! My wife and I ordered two large orders of dumplings(one chicken, one pork) and a large cashew chicken to go. When we got back to our hotel room, we found they didn’t include the dipping sauce, paper plates, utensils(not even chopsticks) or even a lone fortune cookie. Fortunately, we keep spares utensils in the car. The dumplings were delicious, I can only imagine how good they would have been with the dipping sauce. The cashew chicken was very good. I would go there again, but I will not leave the premises without checking the order(bag) to make sure it’s complete!

Food is delicious but needs to improve on customer service. Took almost an hour for food to come out. Waiter got my order wrong and I told him what I received was incorrect. Argued with me saying I was in the wrong. How does a waiter tell a customer what they ordered is wrong? I know what I ordered…

This is without a doubt one of the best Chinese restaurants I’ve ever been to, if not the best. Excellent menu with more than your typical Chinese restaurant choices. Everything tastes FRESH. I love that the fried rice doesn’t have the strange yellow color like so many other places do. Everything I have tried has been delicious. The restaurant is located in an Asian market so check that out too.

I instantly fell for this place when they opened. I was allready a regular visitor to the Asian grocery that is here(being the only one in the entire county). Once the restaurant opened though, I began visiting even more. For starters, they do have the normal chinese/american takeout options, but they use better quality meat and the flavors are much brighter than the other places in town. Ontop of that, they have an entire, traditional chinese menu as well. They offer an authentic chinese family-dining experience that you can’t get anywhere else in the area. My only regret is that they don’t deliver, but due to the high-volume of customers they allready have I’m worried if they DID deliver the quality of the food would drop. Probably for the best they keep it up they way they allready are.

This place is awesome! You get a ton of very delicious food for a shockingly low price. The staff is friendly. The service is good and the food didn’t take long to come out. It’s inside the Asian market, so if you need to pick up anything, you can get both done at once. Give it a try!

This place is great. The do san Xiang is so good. Eggplant and potatoes. Try the dish they call authentic sweet sour pork. It us nothing like the version you are used to. Dumplings are wonderful.

I am a big fan of the dumpling house and the attached Asian grocery. It is shocking that something like this exists in Muncie — not just your regular college town terrible Chinese food. Many of the items on the menu are much more traditionally Chinese than you will find in your average place, and the dumplings are not to be missed. We get takeout from here regularly, and it never disappoints! The grocery store is very well stocked with all sorts of items that you can’t find in an American grocery store. In addition to lots of sauces that a casual fan of Asian cuisine would enjoy, they also sell tons of interesting meats and fish. They also sell premade gyoza which are surprisingly great.

This is some of the best Chinese food I’ve had. The dishes seem to be made with high quality ingredients and they offer both Americanized Chinese dishes, and more authentic choices. Prices are great on both accounts. The dumplings are simply delicious. The lo mein is some of the best I’ve ever had. The crab rangoons are awesome! The fried rice was not good on my first visit, but it may have been a stale batch because it was much, much better the second time around(it came with the chicken dish both times). I’ve ordered in and dined out; both experiences were great. The staff is very friendly.

Went here on a visit to Muncie to see family. We ordered two kinds of dumplings(chicken and mushroom, pork and cabbage), veggie lo mein, honey chicken, and crab rangoon. We all agreed it was all excellent. Only exceptions were that the fried rice that came with the honey chicken was just okay and the egg rolls were good but nothing spectacular. The crab rangoon was very good and we all thought it was the best lo mein we had ever had. Honey chicken and dumplings did not disappoint. The man who served us was helpful and very nice. It’s a cute little place. I will definitely go back on my next visit to Muncie.

This restaurant is in the Asian Market, its a family type place with a slightly different than the usual menu. As the name suggests, they are have dumplings of different types both steamed and fried, 14/order steamed, 12 fried. We had pork and kimchee, pork and cabbage, both were excellent. Pretty inexpensive too. It’s a hidden gem in Muncie. I’ll have to come back and try the other dishes too, they look really interesting.

If you find yourself like, I did in Muncie, and you’re starving check out Dumpling House. While I don’t mean to insult Muncie, it’s just not what I expected to find there. Any time you can eat food in the back of a store, do it. We had the steamed chicken and mushroom dumplings and Chinese broccoli with minced garlic. I kid you not when I say the last time I had dumplings this good it was a Mother’s Dumplings; in frickin Toronto’s Chinatown. Now that I’m back in Detroit I’m a bit sad. We lack a good dumpling spot. While I have no idea if I’ll ever go back to Muncie, if I do Dumpling House will be my first stop.

The reviews were good, so I found this place. The restaurant is actually in the ASIANMARKET, on the corner of Tilloston Ave, @ OAKLYN Street. This place is across from Clancy’s Car Wash & Puerto Vallarta Mexican Café. The parking & entrance is around the corner, on Oaklyn. This is a a very clean, neat, comfortable restaurant. My food was freshly prepared, and served in a timely manor, by a a great waitress. This place is a MUNCIE«SECRET,» as I found that many locals don’t know about it. My food was GREAT, & I will be back here, when I hunger for Asian food.

It’s not big, the décor is simple, there’s no bar, no music, and the menu is a 3 ring binder. So this tiny little restaurant can only rely on 2 things to bring people through the doors. Friendly good service and KICK A** food. They have both of those covered very well! I’m not going to spend a lot of time on the service. We were greeted, told we may choose our seats, treated well by a nice and happy server. Even though we walked in 30 minutes before closing. Now the menu. It was the most extensive Asian menu I have seen, without being rice, pork, chicken 30 different ways. It contained many items I’ve never heard of, but can’t wait to try. Stuff you would see Anthony Bourdain eating in one of his shows. The food… OHTHEFOOD! Since the name of the joint is Dumpling House, I figured I’d best judge the place on it’s dumlings. I had the steamed Triple Fresh Dumplings. They were hands down the best dumplings I’ve ever had. Soft, light, with each flavor standing out and dancing on my taste buds. I also ordered an egg roll. I have searched for years for a truly good egg roll. The fry on it was down right perfect, every flavor in it stood on it’s own. There was just a very light touch of wasabi, so light it took a while to identify it, but was what sent this egg roll to the front of the class. I can’t wait to go back again, and again, and again, and…

Absolutely amazing. And many, many, many thanks to the other Unilocalers for helping me find this place. I would have completely missed this place otherwise. I just moved back to Muncie after living in Chicago for 8 years, where you have a vibrant Chinatown and Tony Hu’s ever expanding empire of restaurants. I never thought I’d find Chinese food this good in Muncie. The food here was very true to what I had when I lived in Sichuan province for a brief time. And unless I’m mistaken, this is the only place to get Hot Pot in Muncie as well. If you’ve never had authentic Chinese food, yes, it will seem strange. You’ll see things like intestine, tripe, and kidney. Don’t be intimidated. There’s a lot of amazing offerings in that jam-packed binder of a menu. Most of it isn’t intimidating or weird at all, so don’t let those few scare you off. I kept it simple this time with my first order: pork + cabbage dumplings, kung pow chicken, and honey chicken. For two people, this was way more than enough food. Dishes are served up sort of family style, in that you get a massive portion that is great for sharing. As for the flavors? ABSOLUTELYPHENOMENAL. I cannot rave enough about the food they put out. It’s a small restaurant area in the back of the Asian Market. When I was there, there were two girls taking care of the dinning area. It took a little bit for the food to come out, but when you’re making food fresh, it takes a little more time. I appreciate that, really. I’d rather wait a few more minutes than have all this frozen food reheated for me. There’s no delivery as of right now, but you can call ahead and carry out. I know for a fact I will be coming back a lot. Definitely my new favorite restaurant in the area. UPDATE: I’ve been here numerous times since this initial review and it is by far my favorite place in Muncie. Pretty much everything has been amazing. Only thing I’ve ever been«meh» on was the lo mein. But there are so many phenomenal dishes that I’m not even slightly saddened by this.

Also posted under«Asian Market»(same place). Manchurian food in Muncie! Need I repeat myself, Manchurian food in Muncie! If you’re not from a big city, Chinese food means one thing – the Americanized Cantonese food that was developed 100 years ago by the first Chinese immigrants from Southern China. Egg foo young, egg rolls, General Tso’s Chicken, etc. But China is a huge country, and its regional cuisines are as different from each other as the different parts of Italy or France are from each other. Asian Market – long ago«The Great Wall» and for the last half dozen years merely a supermarket – is once again a restaurant and is serving«Dongbei»(Northeastern) food. Dongbei is the historical Manchuria. This food features some things not ever found in typical American Chinese food. You can get lamb here, for instance. The dumplings are not at all like what you would get at another Chinese restaurant. They are more similar to pierogi/vareniki and are dipped in vinegar/soy sauce/garlic/hot pepper sauce. I had the pork and cabbage dumplings(they are better boiled) and they were excellent. They also serve«guo bao rou», which is thin pieces of pork battered and deep fried and then served in a thin layer of sweet and sour sauce. This was a little different than I’ve had in Dongbei – there was a bit too much sauce. Maybe it was just an off day, but I’m going to give it another try. So by all means, go here and try Chinese food that you’ve never had before! Adds something interesting to Muncie’s culinary scene.

Eaten here twice. The food is delicious and unlike anything in the area. The service still has some kinks, but nothing too serious. Recommend: The more authentic dishes(everything on the menu that you likely don’t recognize) General Tso’s Chicken is great Dumplings(steamed) are all fantastic! Closed Mondays.

Finally! Authentic Chinese food in Muncie! Lots of stuff you’d never imagine being served locally including tripe, stomach, pork belly, egg with bitter melon and whatever else to shock the squares. Dining with less adventurous eaters? They have some basic general’s chicken and pork lo mein and rangoons too. We had pork with cilantro over noodles and sliced beef noodle soup. Big bowls, THICK noodles. Two very filling noodle bowls for $ 16. Service was spotty, as it was their first day open and there’s more than a little language barrier. Very clean and open. Lotsa young Chinese students eating there! Can’t wait to come back with friends to try their hot pot option. Looks pricey, but where else can you get it? Oh, ask for chili oil. They might make things too mild for gringos.
